Thrift King on Rodi Rd in Penn hills, this is the worst charity thrift store I have ever been to. What makes this intolerable for me is the fact that I just moved into the area at the same time they were just opening up, and was so happy to not only donate over a dozen boxes of household items I didnt want or need, but a place in the neighborhood to shop. So lets get to the issue at hand that has me so angry I called KDKA News Investigation on this place. So I bought a Hoover vacuum cleaner priced at 29.75 from them, I tried it out there before I left because it was dirty, but it picked up the debris that was on the floor...great! I also bought a jewelry box, so because my hands were full, I declined a bag, the employee Dan who cashier my purchase put the receipt in the jewelry box drawer...I never read it, and I left the building. A half hour after I arrived home I started vacuuming the carpet in my family room and for 5 mins it ran, and all of a sudden turned off on its own, I thought maybe it was my plug and tried another plug connected to my tv...it still didnt work and when I bent down to check out the vacuum it was extremely hot. So for the next 20 minutes I let it cool down and decided to clean it up a bit and thats when I found out the hose was clogged with a bunch of debris and cat hair, so I cleaned it out...this whole process started up my allergies. Any way I tried the vacuum again and it still didnt work...it was 3 pm at that point, so I took it back to the store. Dan was still there but his shift was ending, so another employee name Scott waited on me, I told him the vacuum wasnt working and I wanted a refund, I had the receipt with me. Scott started interrogating me like I had did something wrong by buying the vacuum and taking it out the building and taking it home, then said all sales are final I cant get a refund...that pissed me off, there is no way this place is going to sell me a bum product and not give me a refund, or an exchange, or even credit....youre basically stealing. I told him to get his manager, he comes back and says the manager is unavailable. Scott was rude and shrugged his shoulders like who cares about your problem just leave. So I did leave because my mother who has dementia was on her way back home and I had to be there to meet her and also take care of my family. I am angry and I will not put up with this type of treatment from a charity based thrift store who was given merchandise to sell to the public but offers no charity in return to those who have help keep them in business

The new store in penn hills sucks! Poor customer service and their used items that are donated to them for free are priced like ebay and higher than retail stores! This is like my 5th time going in there and they always have an issue. First i went and found 2 wooden pictures that were taped together, well the tape ruined the top picture so i asked if they could be diacoubted since i could only use 1, they said no the tape was placed there on accident (mind you it was taped around so they would be together). The 2nd time i came in there i found a barbie that my daughter really wanted and it didnt have a price tag she took it off of me and said i couldnt buy it. Now my daughter is upset why couldnt they just sell it to me for what other barbies were being sold for? I wanted a blue glassware set behind the counter ofcourse it was priced all seperately and was expensive i asked why the prices were so high in a thrift store and the lady behind the counter got rude with me. I just dont get how a place where you get items for free are being priced higher than what they are in the stores brand new. Last week i was there and there was a monster high doll for $20 i can get that same doll at big lots up the street brand new for $12 to $15. I was so excited for this store to open however just the few times i went here i do not like how its run so i probably will not be coming back and my friends and family wont either. So much for a thrift store when the prices are high.

BAD Customer Service is the biggest reason the Penn Hills Store is so empty in comparison to the Jeanette Store. The mystery owner to the chain is a guy named Chris Brown (not the singer) and he is extremely tough to contact. My bad experience came with a digital scale purchased 12/19/2016 for $8.75 which is nearly the same price a new one would go for. I asked the manager if this was tested and she said all it needs is a battery. However the truth was that this was NOT TESTED and is a door stop because it does not work. A call to the store and the lady manager went on offense saying that all their stuff is no return and she would not even give a store credit for their mistake of not testing the item. The only GOOD thing about shopping at this huge store is there are no other people around shopping and plenty of parking as Penn Hills people and even East Cleveland folks like myself realize the prices and customer service is way below acceptable.

The prices here are phenomenal. If you miss what Goodwill prices used to be like, try this place. Its huge, and they get some interesting stuff. There are self-serve fitting rooms, and public restrooms downstairs. When they first opened they were pretty badly understaffed, but this has improved in recent visits. Their policies are strict and a little unforgiving, so read the big sign on the wall to prevent future struggles! I have no doubt the strictness is what lets them give such good deals, but it can still be a bummer. For example, if you find a treasure with no pricetag, youre out of luck: they cant sell it. Be wary of this, and youll be leaving happy with arm-loads of goodies for what might get you a single outfit at Goodwill.

BEWARE! I bought clothes at this store for the first time this week. I was hesitant to buy items since the tags were put on with staples. When I got home and carefully took them off I noticed they made holes on the clothes. (2 items still had tags and now have holes in them). I should have followed my gut and walked out. Upon calling the store no manager was available. I was told they have a no return policy. I basically just wasted my money and need to pitch the clothes now that they have holes. I WILL be filing a complaint with the BBB also! Ridiculous!
