When I purchased car number one in 08, the salespeople were much more wiling to take the time to listen to you and consider what you wanted rather than just pushing off what they had on the lot that day. The service department was quicker and the cashiers were just a little bit happier to help you when it came time to pick up your keys. The detailers even cleaned the car better then they do now. 2016- it’s all different. I purchased car number five in May of this year and it was a very different experience. I had a new sales person who seemed from the very start to be more concerned with moving vehicles than about finding the car I wanted. After the paper work was signed and the car was home issues revealed them selves such as a cracked bumper that had very obviously been covered up recently and quickly with spray paint, a chipped windshield, a tire that had a screw in it and went flat within an hour, an air conditioner that smelled like mold, and a obviously cigarette infused interior stench that had been covered up with air freshener. A long list of issues for a car that was a “Certified Pre-Owned” vehicle that under went a “160+” point inspection prior to being offered for sale. I was given the following excuses regarding these issues: -bumper: supposedly this was a known issue and the car was appraised as such. Funny how that didn’t come up when I asked about any issues with the vehicle prior to even test driving it. The salesman actually said “you look pretty handy. I’m sure you can take care of it.” Holly crap, that’s service! -chipped windshield: according to the salesman, “it must have been missed by the inspection mechanic” and there was no way to be certain that it didn’t happen on the way home. It was a 1.7-mile drive from the dealership to the house, all on back roads with a maximum speed of 30 MPH during which nothing, NOTHING hit the windshield; it didn’t happen on the way home. I was offered a number that I could call to have the windshield repaired. “Just tell ‘em Rahal sent ya”… awesome. -tire: again, “could have happened on the way home”. It didn’t. The head of the screw that was in the tire was worn off completely. It had been in there for a while. I had repaired enough tires on my own to know what these looked like. -A/C: “sometimes that happens when a car sits for a while.” Neat, fix it before you offer it for sale. -the smoke scented interior: The salesman swore up and down that the smell was not from cigarettes. He assured me that he would be able to pick up on the scent since his parents were ex-smokers and he was familiar with what a car smelled like that had been smoked in. As a former smoker, I was well versed in what cig smell stinks like and what it smelled like after someone had tried to cover that stink up. This was exactly that, poorly covered up cig smell. After multiple phone calls I arranged to drop off the car and have these issues addressed. To the dealerships credit, they fixed the windshield, replaced the tire, and “Serviced” the A/C. As for the bumper, not their problem and the interior was supposedly re-detailed to eliminate the cig smell… it still lingers to this day. When I bought the car I also purchased an extended warranty through Toyota. $1700 for this warranty and the paperwork would show up in the mail in four to six weeks. Six weeks went by and no paperwork. I called Toyota Financial to see where my stuff was and the friendly agent I spoke to informed me that they had no record of receiving the application. He then said, “I’d call the dealership if I was you.” I called Rahal and talked to the finance manager who informed he’d look into it. He called me the following day to say that he had submitted the application that morning. When I asked what had happened the first time he said “I have no idea” which was not at all assuring. The paperwork did eventually show up after that call but one can only imagine what would have happened hadn’t I inquired about it. Screw it, it’s only $1700 right?

After researching for weeks to find a good Toyota dealer service for a recall. I decided to take my car to Bobby Rahal. While I was there, my husband and I looked at a few SUV because I needed a winter vehicle. Found a Highlander and fell in love with it but couldnt get it till end of this year. However, the service was great and recall was completed in a timely matter. The service desk team was very helpful too. I had another issue (totally different issue) Ive exceeded the mileage on my car and was working with Toyota Corp office and Bobby Rahal to get an odometer since May. Bobby Rahal service desk called back in June to cancel my appt because the part was back ordered. So, rescheduled and cancelled again. Finally, we decided not to reschedule until the part arrives. I called back on 6/21, was told the part should be here at the end of July and someone would call me. Yesterday 8/8/17, I called to find out whats going on. I was told "the part was cancelled twice and the supplier no long makes the replacement part". Looks like no one followed up on the part till I called. They were not honest and upfront with me when they knew the issue but kept telling me the part is b/o. Now, they want to try and place another order..... um hello? You didnt follow up on the first two orders and if supplier told you they dont make replacement parts anymore what good is it going to do by placing a 3rd order. Please notify and be honest with your customers. Dont give them the b.s. because it aggravates them when they find out the truth. Also, it looks like yall just dont care about your customers as much. Ever since I moved up this way, it was hard for me to purchase a new vehicle. I have to trust the dealer to spend my hard earn money. Makes me wonder what would have happened if I bought the Highlander and if there were problems with the vehicle.

I would never buy another vehicle from this dealership. I purchased a 2007 Toyota Solara convertable from them brand new, and have faithfully taken this vehicle to this dealership for all maintenance and service needs. This is even knowing that I could get the routine maintenance done cheaper at other places, because I wished to keep the retail value of the vehicle as high as possible. When I went in to see about possibly trading the solara in on another vehicle 6 months ago they said my solara was worth $17,000 and in excellent condition. When they finally received the car I wished to purchase, I returned and during the dealing process I mentioned that I would be able to get the Family and Friends employee discount on the new vehicle. After they found this out they changed the trade in value of my excellent condition Solara to $10,000. Nothing has changed with the condition of my Solara, other than the dealer doesnt want to loose their apparently large profit margin when I apply the employee discount. The salesman treated us like we were stupid and didnt know what we were talking about with the trade in value. Save yourself the hassle and buy your toyota from another dealer.
