REVISED: Though I hated my first experience in the store, I liked my experience with the manager and how she resolved it. I will give Once Upon a Child another chance because of her. I spoke with the manager, Emily, and she was wonderful to speak with and responded quickly to my review. She was completely understanding of why I felt the way I did after my first experience. I learned more about their process and I was also able to express my concerns as a first time customer. I think we both learned from this experience. I feel like the situation is resolved and my feeling of frustration is gone. Though the situation happened as it did and mistakes were made, I am at peace with the fact my concerns were acknowledged and the manager did everything she could to make things right. I really appreciate our conversation and I do understand there are just off days for all of us. Thank you, Emily, for taking the time to go over everything. I now know the steps I can take as a seller to ensure my peace of mind. For example, I know now that I can request an itemized list for the potential purchase and I can request my outfit sets to not get pulled apart. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Selling items there is not worth the gas money, or effort. My stuff came back completely tossed around and I truly dont know what they took because things werent where I placed them in boxes/ tuberware containers when I brought them in. I had everything by size, girl/ boy, clean, organized, etc. A box I gave them was not returned to me, or paid for. I was so frustrated with the situation, I will call it a donation, and be thankful for what I did get. It made me uncomfortable that they had to look around to find what I brought in order to return the items they didnt purchase. Very disorganized and bad way to do business. I was shown a blue tub of what they purchased, it was so random and difficult to see what was purchased. When I began to look through the items purchased, the lady asked me not to mess them up. Ultimately, I would have preferred to stay with my items while they went through them. I was told there would be a list of what they purchased when I brought the items in, but there wasnt one given to me. I had brand new, name brand, clothes and was paid about one dollar each for the items they chose based on the number of items and the amount paid out. It was my first time trying it out and it was bad experience. Worse, when I got home to actually see my returned items, they took apart outfits, BRAND NEW, Carters! They took the tops and left the bottoms!!! It will be difficult to sell them now, or donate them even. My stuff is A MESS!! IGNORANT.

Update: I was very impressed by the efforts of the store to right things with me in this case, thank you again! Good place to go if you are buying clothes, some items are in just ok condition, especially toys. (While they claim that they have a standard of condition to consign.) I will probably never sell clothes/items to this store again unless I can wait on them. No store employee said anything specific to me about their donation policy while I was signing their agreement with a squirmy 11 month old in my other hand. (I understand that you need to read what you sign, but it is hard to read something in that situation.) Unfortunately, I was ill the following evening and was unable to go pick up my items, which was the majority of my sons wardrobe from birth, my 31 tote, which was not for sale, and $22 is all I have to show for it, great! The other thing is that the store staff said it only would only take 15 minutes to check my clothing the following day. We were there shopping for more then 15 minutes that night and the store was probably open for another hour, they really dont put the customer first, but what do you expect from a discounted merchandise store I guess? Lesson learned!

I just tried selling my gently used childrens clothing here, for the first time; I dont think I will ever come back. 90% of my items were returned back to me, for "wearing and some staining". There were items returned to me with the tags still on them - NEVER WORN. All of the clothing Id brought in, was in great condition and fashionable. Ive consigned regularly throughout the years, and this is by far the worst experience Ive ever had, in doing so. I even questioned the person that sorted my bin. The example she gave me: a pink pair of Levis skinny pants had "wearing" on the knee area; in reality the pants had never been worn, and had been purchased that way. Every item I pulled back from the bin, illicited the same response; with my being told, they CANT resell anything worn out, etc.... however, when perusing their aisles, MOST of their items are faded, there are distressed items, and I saw a lot of white garmets being resold with yellow discoloration. All in all, a VERY disappointing experience.

I love shopping her for my 3 children! There is always a new selection each time I go. I agree that a few items may slip by and make it to the rack that I would not buy (in matter of condition) but overall, Id say they have a great selection. Im glad I signed up for e-mail so we can take advantage of as many sales events as possible as well. The store can be pretty crowded at times; however, Ive moved around a lot and been to many different OUAC and they are all like that. Ill just be happy that that means they have a ton to offer! Staff was very friendly a week ago when we sold our bike and winter jackets. Wish the jackets would have been worth a little more; but, its better than trying to organize a yard sale again!! We also bought most of my sons back to school clothing there (esp jeans as he grows so fast!!) and my husband was pleased with final bill (not an easy thing to do). Overall, very pleasant experience and will return for buying and selling purposes.

I love this place when it comes to shopping for my infant son. Consigning, however, completely different story. A month ago, I consigned a bunch of clothes to them, Disney brand, Carters, koala baby, and a few other brands. A lot of the clothes my son either never worn or were only worn once to a handful of times, they didnt take at all. What they DID take was the tops and not the bottoms. The one outfit was sesame street and clearly matched, yet they only took the top. I let it go as a fluke and decided to see what happened next time I tried. I go and consign again, an entire box filled with Carters, gap, gymboree, all he outgrew and, once again, only worn a select few of times. They took NONE of the Carters (looking through the box and every thing looks in good condition to me, as I take care of my sons clothes) they took a top that had a matching onesie, but not the matching onesie and every thing was thrown in the box so I have no clue what they even took.
