I gave the Ulta Beauty store located in Exton Pa a one star rating only because it seems to be an ongoing issue that a majority of the ladies that work there do not have a clue how to treat a customer. Ive been shopping at the Exton location since they opened. I canot afford to shop there very often because it is an expensive place to purchase beauty and hair products. Im guessing that the attraction for me is the unlimited selection, the fact that they stock so many items that I always find what I need and if I shop their clearance shelves or have coupons I will always come away with a great deal. This brings me to reason I wanted to write this review. Everytime I go through the checkout line the cashiers are having a hell of a bad day. Im made to feel like im creating an imposition on the girl by checking out and forget about asking them questions because that messes them up and dare they go out of their way to get an answer. If I would have ever treated a customer so rudely I would have been fired from my job. It makes me so angry to experience the lack of energy, the disrespect and overall unwillingness to do their job. These are suposed to be young ladies representing a very large company that provides beauty products to other ladies and there is a certain responsibility of making other people look and feel better about themselves. The fact that their attitudes reflect such a strong feeling of negativity is a reason for Ulta to get rid of the employees that feel as if theyre too good to wait on someone else. It is a shame because there are a couple of employees that are more than willing to help a customer but thats not the norm at the Exton location. I was there as recent as a week and 1/2 ago. The young girl that was cashing out my items was awful. First her repesentation of the makeup she was wearing was terrible and showed a lack of experience with color and application. Lip liner should not be detectable or applied a 1/4 of an inch above your natural lip line on the top lip. The color was a tangerine orange and it was awful. I really wanted to ask her if that was the reason she was acting so rude but I kept quiet. Secondly I explained that I signed up for the Ulta birthday gift online and to date I still havent received anything. When I asked her about it she said it should come in my mail either on my birthday or the day after. She didnt ask when my birthday was and I knew her answer was just made up to shut me up and get done with my sale. Coupled with her lack of interest and her rude demeanor knew it was time to bring this issue up in a review.

Wow...went in to find hair extensions to use in my hair for my wedding. The stylist showed me where they were, and I asked for clip-in, and a recommendation for color. (Ive been to another place, and they had been able to match me with a solid color--not a blend. They just didnt have the right length.) First I told her my stylist said to get human hair...but she pointed me to a synthetic that can be curled, and didnt really listen when I was trying to say Id prefer the human hair...which they had. She was showing me a color that was a blend (several different colors...similar to highlights), and I said, "This one looks like its different colors-- Im looking for one solid color, since my hair isnt highlighted." Her answer? "Well realistically your hair isnt one color." My response, "But my hair doesnt look like that (meaning what she was showing me)....would someone with my hair wear a blend?" (I mean...I dont know anything about this, so a legitimate question). Her response, "I was just opening this box to show it to you"...but said with the most RUDE delivery I have ever heard from a sales associate. Then (annoyed) she went on to say, "Didnt your stylist tell you where to go or what to get?" (I thought Id been clear I wanted human hair...a solid color...which they did have...) I started to leave...we talked a little more (about where I could go)...then I left...in a hurry. Went in at 11am on November 12, 2015...wont be back.

Salon workers are excellent- every experience Ive had with them has been very nice. However- the customer reps from companies and employees are some of the rudest employees Ive met. Lady who did my brows once rubbed my face without asking as she did not like the color of my blush, another refused to serve me once I said that the foundation she selected was a much too dark and pink, making me look sunburned. I finally went in to get a different foundation matched on a different day. The woman refused to help me (as well as other customers). I simply asked if a foundation would be recommended for oily skin from customer and employee experience, she held up the package and declared it did not say oil free, even though the foundation had it clearly marked on the cover, and that I clearly did not know how to select foundation. I said that I did not ask exactly about the oil free label, as I just returned a foundation claiming to be "oil free" but in fact made me feel quite greasy. I asked nicely if she could match me, she claimed I had unblended foundation ( I was bare faced) and walked away, chatting with her friend in the corner instead of helping customers.

I try to avoid this location because Im pretty sure my daughter and I were subject to racial profiling by a white salesperson. I asked her to help me find a foundation suitable for my daughter and I pointed to the Lancôme makeup. She pointed to the other side of the store and said maybe we should look there for the more affordable makeup. Wow. That wasnt what I asked at all. I said if I wanted drug store makeup I wouldve gone to CVS. I walked away and found someone who was more accommodating to help us. Honestly it was like the scene in pretty woman when the stuck up Rodeo people told Vivienne there was nothing for her in their store. At another visit-Tuesday before Thanksgiving- it took me 5 minutes to find a salesperson to ask where a certain brand of makeup was that I wanted. When I finally found someone she was helpful. Thank goodness! If the makeup I want is available at Sephora, I usually buy from there instead.

I love the product lines Ulta carries. Sometimes I go in and know what I want, but if I do need help its hit or miss with the customer service representatives. Yesterday I went Im to purchase a Chi flat iron and could not find a rep to help me. Eventually I found one and was snubbed. I love Ulta as a company, but the reps need better customer service training and empathy for their customers at the Exton location. Also, the online and in-store prices do vary at times and they wont match online prices. I was pretty disappointed with that revelation as well. Hope that changes in the future.

Rude ladies, lady with bright purple/blue hair. Followed me around the store after I told multiple girls I didnt need any help I had a Nxy lip stick in my hand thinking about if I would like to buy it or not. She came up to me asking me if I wanted a bag for my merchandise I said no. Then a second time asking me if I wanted one telling me I needed the bag that it was store policy but there was no one else with the bags and people walking around with merchandise in their hands. Rude customer service. I will not be coming back if Im going to be harassed.
