I ran into Ulta to purchase a few things on May 14th. The cashier, listed as "Siarra" on my receipt asked if I had a rewards card, etc., I said no. She then proceeded to go list out the benefits of the card and then got my attention when she said that you could not make any returns unless you had a rewards card. I said, "even if you have your original receipt you cant return something unless you have the card?" She said "yes, even with the original receipt - you still needed the rewards card to make a return." I said, "What kind of customer services is that?" She basically said that was store policy. And I again said, "Even if you have your original receipt?" She said yes and I said that I will never shop here again. I am not going to patronize a store that forces you to get a rewards card to make a return. She was quite taken back and asked if it was her customer service or just store policy that I didnt want to shop here anymore. And I said store policy. She gave me my bag and as I walked out, she turned around (because no one can hear you if you turn around) and started badmouthing me to her co-workers and couldnt believe my reaction. I told my husband that I didnt care if she said anything about me, but someone should have told her to at least wait until the customer is out of the store before you start running your mouth. I have shopped at Ulta for as long as they have been in the Portland area. I believe I have returned something once or maybe twice to a store. SO...all that being said, when I got into my car, I turned the receipt around and it very clearly says on the back that you CAN make returns with your original receipt. There is no mandate on using a rewards card. I would hope that cashiers like Siarra are better educated about store policy and customer service when they are the point of contact for customers.

I was in the market for a new foundation-type product and was excited to learn that this store existed and had so many of the products Id read about online. I specifically went in without makeup because I thought it would be easier for someone to help me find a good shade. Well, it was very difficult getting any help (maybe I wasnt "made-up" enough to look like a serious customer with money burning a hole in my pocket?). When someone finally did help me, they appeared to be in a big hurry to find one shade in one product line and send me off with samples as quickly as possible. When I wanted some more samples to try at home (because clearly I wasnt going to get much help trying things on in the store), I was told there is a 3-item limit on samples. When I, as a customer, feel like Im disturbing the salespeople, it doesnt make me want to shop there or spend money there. So I went to the *other* makeup store and found someone who spent a lot of time with me finding the right product and shade.

It was my wife that went in for a hair cut. The only thing moderately okay was the hair cut itself. I dont know the name of the stylist, but her attitude and professionalism is over due for a make-over. She did not listen to what my wife was asking for, and performed charged services not requested obligating us to pay. She was excessively rough with the hair brush, and was rude when brought to her attention. Strangely, when it was requested that my wife did not want her hair washed, the stylist responded with, "It will offend me if I dont." Am I mistaken or is the customers experience all about how the stylist is doing. Long story short, to call this woman a professional stylist is over stated, and all I will say is I am glad it was not me who had to endure it. Incase youre wondering the woman had red and white hair color on the forward most part of her head. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

I cant say enough good things about Hanna in the salon. She is a gem and amazingly dedicated to making sure that the look you receive is the one you wanted. She cut and styled my long, thick and curly mess into a beautiful, still long but now perfectly layered, stick straight masterpiece! Ive never before been dedicated to following a stylist but if Hanna ever leaves Ulta Salons I will absolutely be a patron of whatever salon she ends up at, shes just that good! p.s. because of my hair type and length, Im very used to being charged extra (into the hundreds) for the amount of time and effort it takes just to style it. But, Hannas rate was so low that if I didnt have a receipt to look at, I still wouldnt believe it! Thanks again Hanna, you are AMAZING!

I asked about highlighters and she showed me the most expensive one instead of the best one. They didnt have the highlighter I really wanted which was the Urban Decay Naked Illuminator. All three shades were gone. Wheres your backstock?! Its the weekend!!! She wasnt paying attention when I was standing in line so I walked over to her register. They didnt even have the free gift I was sent an email about yesterday. She barely said hi and I showed her my coupon and she offered a gel mascara instead and I declined. Who wants that?! Terrible customer service. Never will be back and I only love 0.2 miles from here! So sad. I would rather drive to Tigard! Fix your supply and get some new employees.

Never get your hair done at Ulta! I have had my hair cut and colored several times at the Ulta salon. The hair stylist, Chelsea, was nice. But each time she spent a lot of time talking to her friends during my appointment, so it took a lot longer than it needed to. After one of my hair cuts, I noticed that a chunk of hair on the under side was chopped off very short. Now Im having to grow that chunk out, which is taking a long time, and it looks really bad when I wear my hair up. I dont know how someone can accidentally cut a big chunk of hair way shorter than the rest of my hair.

It has always been a good experience shopping here, I love this location! The ladies that work here are very nice and helpful. If I cant find something they are always eager to help. The place is clean and well organized and they keep product in stock more than the other locations. I absolutely look forward to shopping here for a long time! If I forget my coupon they are always ready to provide me with one. I really like that they have a Clinique section although I wish they would have a Clinique bonus time like other dept. stores but other than that Im happy.

Since moving here 8 months ago Ive took a chance on 2 haircuts before I went here and got lucky that Chelsea had an opening. It was the best short hair angled cut Ive received so far and Im going back. I didnt notice her talking to others like another reviewer wrote. I found she is very experienced, took her time, listened to what I wanted and made some great suggestions. If you need a new cut, Id give highly recommend her.
