We love Spielwerk toys for our classroom and our family! As an educator I shop at Spielwerk for my classroom and know that the materials I bring into the classroom are at the highest level of quality we can find. The warmth of the hand carved wooden animals, fairies and gnomes draws children in to investigate and wonder. We love the open-ended possibilities that we find when we go to Spielwerk. Every item in Staceys shop fights the stereotype of branded, commercialized characters. We know that the faces of the animals and woodland fairies invite conversations of, "what could these creatures be encountering in their experiences of your play." It is a joy to shop at Spielwerk. The shop is always welcoming and warm. We love each and every person who works at Spielwerk. The staff are always been so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They feel that what they do as liaisons is to bring the work and wonder of children and adults alike into todays homes and classrooms. Our family shops there for every birthday gift. There is no childs birthday I ever attend without a piece from Spielwerk. It brings joy to both children and adults!

We were nearby at Lark Press, and the kids spotted SpielWerk, so, of course we had to make a quick stop in! When you enter the toystore, youre immediately confronted with a beautiful, Waldorf-inspired play area for the children- its designed like an ampitheatre, with one set of stairs and a heavy door to the outside, so its no sweat to let your children play happily while you shop, knowing theyre really unlikely to get into any trouble! This ended up being the perfect arrangement, because it afforded me the opportunity to purchase a couple of "Hanukkah Goblins" (Waldorf-style bendy-arm wooden dolls) without the kids knowing! The prices are high- its a spendy store, but you definitely get what you pay for. Its not the place to go for cheap plastic that wont last past Christmas morning- but more a place where you go when you want an heirloom toy that will last for generations.

Im an Autism Specialist, and purchased 3 items from SpielWerk Toys to use with a client. Goals for this client changed, and 2 of the 3 toys werent needed. It had been about a week since they were purchased, and they were NOT used even a little bit. (In fact, they were still in their box, and the box was still in the shopping bag.) I took the items - with receipt - back to the store to get a refund. Unfortunately, the store only accepts exchanges or credit. Considering how much I paid for these toys, Im quite disappointed. I wish this return policy was advertised at the time of purchase. I never would have bought them in the 1st place if Id known I couldnt get my money back in the event I needed to return them. I will not be bringing my business back here again.

The woman working at the counter there was extremely apathetic and unhelpful to my inquirey, and rude at times, saying that I was putting "too much pressure on her" by asking for a book reccommendation? If you work at a store it seems like that would be your job to be familiar with the products and help clients with what they are looking for, but clearly that is not a priority here. Their toys are good quality but overly priced. I will not be going back.

Best toy store Ive been in without a doubt! Yes its a little more pricey but you get what you pay for. The toys are all high quality, mostly made of wood and other natural materials. Up front there is a little play area where kids can try out some of the toys for sale which is really nice! This is the only place I feel comfortable taking my daughter to pick out a toy because I know its not made of toxic plastic and chemicals!

Spielwerks stocks hard-to-find European toys and keeps the plastic to a minimum. Kids can play while you shop. Great place to shop for toys that wont end up in the giveaway pile (or garbage). Anyone can find cheap junky toys on Amazon.
