I am so indebted to Scott and his mechanics. Id originally taken my 93 Virago XV535 to another shop (boo!) that specialized in high performance race bikes because I knew one of the mechanics through a cousin. It was leaking full synthetic oil (from an oil change before I bought her) and the forks were mushy. The original mechanic tore the bike apart and wanted to order really expensive unnecessary parts and totally redo the forks, which would have cost me hundreds. Instead I pulled the bike from him and took it over to Fastbikes. Such a wonderful decision. Scott spent a lot of time with me on the Saturday morning that I brought her in. He didnt want to go off of someone elses work but wanted to be sure by having his guys access it from the beginning. He lectured me about oil and the fact that my bike doesnt need full synthetic. The bike got put up on the lift immediately and he called me, as promised, on Monday around noon for a progress report. They couldnt find the leak and so reassembled the bike and put the right oil in it. He called again before 5 to let me know that my fork seals were in great condition. I went by to see for myself. To my surprise there was no leak whatsoever, no matter how many heatcycles they ran the bike through. Turns out it was just the full synthetic running out of the older bike like water. (If Id left it with the first mechanic, he would have put full synthetic right back in it and I would have had the same problem, maybe worse, and be out $600) I was astounded. When I came to see for myself Scott sat down with me for 30 minutes to looked at the bike and talked to me about what oil my fork seals should have. Again the next day he called to say that the bike still wasnt leaking, that they would test drive it, and that the fork oil would be going in that afternoon. The bike was checked in on Saturday, was on the lift by Monday and finished by Wednesday. I truly appreciate the time and honesty of these guys. Their rates are good too! I wont be taking my bike anywhere else in Portland. Thank you Scott and Fastbikes for the lessons, good service and for not taking advantage of a beginning, female rider.

Almost a really good experience.....I went in for a new tire and oil change thinking I was just gonna sell the bike. Scott helped me to see I should keep the bike if I just had some adjustments done. Despite having a quote of $25 less for tires elsewhere, Scott told me there was no other tire that is cheaper that would fit my bike. After a few weeks, I came back as advised to have things tightened up. I tried 3 times to ask him exactly what I would have to pay for on this return visit and he was very vague and said 10-15 minutes of work isnt going to be much. I was grateful that he was able to sell my old muffler to another customer but when he asked me for a cut I was a little taken back...I thought I helped in gain another customer that he then could charge for the labor to install it but he wanted a cut Plus $125 for the supposedly 15 minutes of bolt tightening. When I asked why it went from 15 minutes to 1hr and 15 min he became irate, turned red and almost started screaming at me as if I should know why. I had just paid him $1000 two weeks prior and we had set up $400 worth of work to do in the following month and then he flips out and treats me like crap for asking why the difference in time estimate. Last I knew, I was the customer and customers have the right to inquire what the workers do during the time they charge. Other reviews show Scott as taking advantage of people...I definitely felt that. I was the dummy and he was pulling the strings. That little freak out he pulled cost him my future business and hopefully that of those I tell.

I brought in a bike that had some charging issues. Scott told me he would have his wiring guy do it. He asked for an $800 deposit because "some people leave bikes and never come back". He called a few days later and said I needed my carbs cleaned, which I knew to be correct, so I said go ahead. He called and said I needed a reg/rec which I knew but I had already got one to replace the old one so I asked him to finish the wiring and I would pop on the reg/rec after having received the bike. Picked up the bike, paid $200 to close the balance, took the bike home. It was doing the same thing it had done before I took it in, so I stripped the bike and discovered it was only a burned out kill switch that had been leaking power and that Fast Bikes had not touched a single wire on my bike. I could not find a single fresh piece of tape, solder, nothing. Also, only one carb out of four had been opened and cleaned. I couldnt believe it. Scotts response was that I should have paid them to do everything, so it was my fault. $1000 dollars to get one carb cleaned seems a little much. Ive never reviewed a place before, and fully admit that this incident was several years ago with my first street bike in many years, but I cringe when I go by that place and I couldnt stand it when they came up when I was looking for a place to get something.

Absolutely the most unprofessional experience in my 25 years of doing business in Portland. And being a Publisher of a National magazine affords me the luxury of dealing with several local and national entities. Not only did I have to wait over 3 months to have my bike service with 0 communication...the $600 I spent to apparently "rebuild" by bike carbs was unsuccessful. This bike gets stored 3-4 months out of the year and I was given specific instructions on how to maintain service over that storage period using Sta-bil. Fill the tank, run the bike and let it mix they said. This is exactly what was done. When taken out of storage...same issue and no running bike. I contacted Fast Bikes and was basically, and in a extremely rude manor, told that its not their problem and that apparently I didnt put the Sta-bil in correctly. Suddenly additional instructions were added to the conversation that were not given upon pick-up. The instructions given upon exchange of my $600 were followed exactly. In short...Fast Bikes took this $600, didnt fix my bike and is offering no solution to the same issue I had when I originally dropped it off. This shop needs to brush up on its customer service and at least offer to fix what was paid for.

A prime example of customer service - I highly recommend Fast Bikes! My story: I was traveling cross country and my rear tire was down to the wear bars. I called Scott a couple days before arriving in Portland and he immediately ordered the tire I wanted and told me he could switch it out within a few hours. I arrived 2 days later and in about 3hrs I was all set. Scott was nice enough to let me leave my bags in his shop too. He inspected the rest of the bike, cleaned my chain and checked my front tire pressure. Price was reasonable and as expected.
