Short version: The manager, Angie, is great, but some of the employees REALLY need to work on customer service....Jane, the cashier. James is cool though. He helped me carry out Cocos food and played with her while I was dealing with what was going on at the register. Still not coming back though, Ive never had any problems at the petco in Eugene and Ill drive the extra time to get there too. Long version: Everything was fine until I got to the register. My dog, Coco, and I were getting dog food, treats and some Frontline. I wanted a single dose but didnt know that it wasnt sold in pet stores but I could get it at the Vets office. I wasnt keeping up on my total while shopping because coco was loving the attention and I thought it was cute. I dont get to shop with my dog often so, of course I was distracted. My total came to $105 and some change so I swiped thinking I had enough, but it said Insufficient Funds. Which is fine. Im 22, Im not rich so I dont even freak out about it anymore. The cashier couldve just left it at, "Im sorry, it says Insuffient Funds would you like to try another card?" And I would have said, "Nope! Thats all my money, Lady! Im broke!" And we wouldve laughed and laughed and then returned some stuff. Easy. No. She starts talking to the manager, Angie, who is in the middle of a transaction with another customer. Not really talking but yelling, almost. "Wow, yeah it only took part of the transaction! Ive never seen that before! Angie have you ever seen that before? Why did it do that?" I was just in disbelief. Who does this?! Its already an awkward situation telling someone they dont have enough money and people already dont like hearing it, but this woman is broadcasting it to the whole store and I cant stop her because Im actually frozen and I cant even find the words to make her stop. She went on like this until Angie was done with her customers and could politely answer me. And I wasnt even waiting for answers, I already knew I was going to return the frontline and go to my favorite dog washing place for a single dose (Suds em Yourself). So Angie answers all of Janes questions (the cashier), and by this point Im actually really embarrassed! Pretty mortified actually. Ive never ever, through all of my declined transactions, ever been on the verge of tears because of how much I wanted to punch her in the face. Like, right in the face. So I cant help but get a bitchy tone going. By now, she has completely embarrassed me. Yelled so much about how broke I am in front of her coworkers and customers shopping in the area. I wouldnt be surprised if the whole store heard her. So she basically told me Ill be broke for the next 6-10 business days, I wont get my dog her food, her treats or her medicine, and wasted my whole day... Um, yeah effing right! I am a manager so I know what there is to do for the customer in these situations, so I said, "cant you just do the refund and give me cash?" I used my debit card so its not like Im trying to cheat them out of their money, its mine. They agreed and I was going to be refunded 56.79 or something like that, and she proceeds to give me my change in 10s. Since she made me so freaking angry and I couldnt punch her in the face, I started being the difficult one! I asked for 20s knowing that I was going to be giving it right back to her for Cocos goodies. So they check 2 registers and find my two 20s give them to me, and I finished off that transaction by giving those two 20s right back to her. I totally won that one. I hope she was even as annoyed by me by the end of that. Long story short, Angie was great, very sweet, professional and helpful. And great with coco. James was helpful and didnt make the walk out to my car with Cocos food awkward, I did though. I lost my car and then walked right by it. And he was also good with Coco. But Jane should work on her customer service and how to handle those situations. Because she really sucked at it. And I would like to think that Coco didnt like her either.

I had originally called the customer service line because I needed to make a complaint. After I had taken my dog home, I had noticed that they had forgotten to express his anal sacs. I had to do it myself to make him feel more comfortable. I was dissatisfied at spending the $46 for a bathing and simple facial trim. They also had not trimmed his hair around his buttocks. I live out of the way so getting into town in a big pain for me. When I had called the location, the manager was not in. Hence the reason for calling the national line. I spoke to a woman about my complaint and she said she would send a message to the manager there and that they would be getting back to me. I got a call about 4 days later from the Eugene Oregon location from the manager who I could tell was ready to defend their honor. She went into a story about how she would have seen it if my dog was bleeding and would have seen the blood and didnt notice anything. Rather confused, it took a good 25 minutes on the phone (I work at a call center myself so I understand) to sort out what the miscommunication was. She offered me a free dog bathing, but I honestly dont know when Ill be able to make it into town again, and I can bathe my own dog from home. I dont know how the phone rep would have heard a complaint about an accidentally snipped dog from a lack of anal sac expression. Thats beyond me. But I have to say, Im very not impressed and will have to take my business elsewhere. It seems like no one really knows what they are doing at both the corporate and local level and I dont feel like throwing my money around to not have a job done. Thank you for your time.

I Love the people who work there. Time and time again, they go out of their way to help you. I buy all of my dog food there and she is a picky eater. They have always refunded and suggested another type. Theres only one thing I would suggest which is they should have free sample bags of their pet food so you can find out if the pets will eat it before buying and opening a larger bag. Since writing this review, I have started using Petcos Online Services. Folks, you can order from the comfort of your home using the Internet and your order will be shipped directly to your house in just a short time period. The best thing that I like is that I can choose when I want the next order to ship. I can also use my points to bring the balance down and you also receive pricing below what it is in the stores. (As well as saving gas and time!) They have a great staff who are more than willing to help you find what you are looking for or whatever it may be. I always get extra points just for calling in! These are sent to your email where you can load them onto your card and use either in store or online. Thanks Petco! You have certainly helped make my life easier!
