I had my dog, (puppy at the time) get some beginning training here and it was a pretty good ground work for him and for my family to get some skills to help train him. I give the training a thumbs up for most dog owners that want basics. The part that really bothered me came in the other experiences I have had since my dog has grown. I have taken my dog in to be washed and have its nails cut twice. They didnt cut the nails because they were afraid they would hit the fleshy part cause my dogs nails are black (what did I pay you for then). You could also still feel the soap on his fur in parts (they stated my dog looked so sad while being washed they tried to do it quickly) and he came back with fleas, twice. After the second time getting fleas from petco wash ( a wash that was supposed to also include stuff to kill fleas) my family has stopped bringing him. It may be a pain to wash my stubborn sad eyed dog but its better to pay $2 for water/soap at home and go through the annoyance than pay someone to half ass a job, or not do it, and give your dogs fleas.

Took my 40lb cattle dog/rott mix in for a bath and brush appointment today. The young girl behind the counter seemed more eager to check her cell phone than to check me in. I was told that he would be brushed out, bathed, ears cleaned, and nails trimmed. The waiver they printed for me to sign listed shaving as an extra $11 charge. This dog has the coat of a lab, there is NO reason to shave him. They reassured me they were having "computer problems" and that he would not be shaved, even though it was on the invoice. This should have been my first sign to grab the leash back and walk out. My husband picked up the dog later in the afternoon, and brought him straight home. They didnt shave him - thank goodness - but he was charged for it. His nails were untouched, his ears dirty, and his coat greasy and covered in dandruff. Perhaps he had been brushed, but thats being generous. We put him in the tub here at the house and the water running off him was brown. Clearly he hadnt been bathed. $32 for a cheap fabric remnant bandana and a spritz of cologne.

So I walk in wanting some fish advice. I went back to the fish tanks and thought I had stumbled upon a mass grave site. I have never seen so many belly-ups and half decayed carcasses. This is obviously a concentration camp for fish. The only ones that were alive had eaten all their friends to survive. Can you imagine the amount of trauma that caused in their little brains. My friend bought a cat there a few months ago and its obviously been possessed by an evil spirit. It bites and and scratches, then pitches an attitude. Oh wait, all cats do that... But the little creep even pees 2 inches from the litter box on purpose! An exorcism was scheduled but the priest could not touch the cat without being bitten. This store is obviously full of dark magic and animal torture. I would not ever enter those door again.

Decent prices on supplies. Staff is not helpful. Animals are not well taken care of - fish and lizards especially. Grooming salon does not do their job; when I took my dog in, his hair was not cut correctly and he still had dirt in his coat and paws.

This may be the smallest Petco I have ever gone to. Also fewer checkout stands and the lines tend to be longer. It is also hard to get any assistance for getting fish, crickets, or any other creatures. It does have all the essentials for pets though.

Got a hamster from them and it kept biting my niece so i took it back and they said it was my nieces fault who is 6 years old. They told her to her face! Never again. Just use Salem Pet Supplies for anything pet related.

The employees are nice, but just about every time Ive been here they are understaffed. Which makes it difficult to get any help. Can be annoying if all you want is to get in, get some feeder mice and get out.

Nice clean well stocked store. Animals and fish usually look healthy. Staffing is pretty low most of the time. Groomers never look happy. But never had a bad experience.
