Went today to purchase a rifle. Lazy and rude employee at the gun counter. Greeted not with a "how may I help you", instead with a "what do you want?". I asked to see the display model of a rifle I was interested in. So he goes and unboxes a slightly different rifle. I asked again to see the rifle on display, but he rudely asks me "why, they are the same". (they were the same model, but I was interested in a short action caliber, but he keeps giving me among action caliber. He spends several minutes unsuccessfully trying to assemble the rifle when I finally ask again to see the display, he walks over and grabs once again a different rifle. Fustrated, I went and informed the manager what was happening and why I would be driving up to Edmond to spend my cash. Drove directly to the other academy and bought the rifle. I will never shop there again as long as they employ jerks.

Stopped in today looking for plinking rounds in .40 and .223. At the service desk no target rounds, just a few boxes of defense and match grade rounds. Head back to the gun sections so my wife can look at the handguns (shes looking for a new carry weapon) and see TONS of .40 and .223 target rounds in the cabinet behind the counter. So I ask for 2 boxes of each, and the guy tells me I cant buy any...that its only for folks who purchase weapons. He then tells me I need to go up front. I explained there were no target rounds up front. He responds "Sorry dude, this is only for folks who buy guns". Weve bought several guns and lots of exercise equipment from them in the past...but wont in the future. Im staying "Mom and Pop" local from now on. Might pay a bit more, but not having to deal with BS "policies" will be worth it.

I had bought a pool for my family and we put the pool up but we were having problems with are pump. Called academy and spoke to Matt in pools explained the problem I was having . He said no problem we can exchange pumps I will have one waiting a customer service for you. You can come and get a your convenience. Not only am I impressed with awesome service but this is the first time I have bought a pool from them. The quality of their pools far surpass the ones at Walmart. I usually buy my pools there, and the service usually stinks. Academy is my go to place for everything now. THANKS FOR HAVING GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

On March 16, 2013 my wife and i were shopping for a handgun. We wanted something for her because she wanted one of her own. We were interrogated at the gun counter when we asked to see the first gun. The service rep. got really impatient with us so we drove to the academy store across town where we were greeted and treated with reapect needless to say my wife got her gun and she "twisted my arm" so i bought one for myself;) and i didnt have to leap over any counters and slap anyone.

The people at Academy are always polite they seen always in a good mood theyre always helpful and if they dont have a product in-store they will order it for me at no extra cost and have it sent to my home and it doesnt get any better than that customer service has it been this good since 04 years and Im not talking about Academy Im talking about all over theyre just theyre just great at least it my store over here and Northwest Highway and 63rd so anyway thats all thanks.

Just in the parking lot when I realized that the golf club which I purchased was supposed to come with a headcover which the cashier was supposed to give me.....insteaf she let me purchase one for $15...aftet returning headcover....checked my receipt and noticed I had neen overcharged on two items by a total of nearly $50 bucks....boy talk about scre#@$# people for $....and I thought that was supposed to be illegal....wheres Chris Hansen when you need him....j/s

I just left Academy. There had to be 30 employees on the floor. Not one person asked me if I needed any help. I walked around the store a few times. No one greeted me when I came in or when I left through the check out area. This may be why so many people find it easy to steal ammunition and 30 paira of sandals. No one is paying any attention. I did not find what I came to purchase :(

Salesman was very anti police. Had to talk to a manager after hearing one of the firearm salesmen telling a customer about his personal anti police opinion. Such a controversial opinion has no business being shared by an employee of a national chain store. Better to keep those opinions to yourself instead of alienating customers. Waiting to hear back from corporate....

Update: February 6, 2012. I visited over the weekend and have to say, Ive finally seen some leadership at the gun counter. Tom, the manager went out of his way to help me and seemed eager to go the extra mile for customers. Good job. Changing my rating from "hated it" to "liked it."

Saw an online ad for a queen air bed for $29.99. Went to the store and the associate said they could not sell the item for that price. Made me pay $39.99. Not nice. Customer service later said they do not have to honor the online advertised price. What an absolute ripoff.

This location usually has what Im looking for. I dread going because the merchandise is packed so tight its hard to look at anything thats not eye level. Even the main walking aisles are packed with racks and displays. I get clostaphobic just thinking about going.

Great place to get outdoor equipment, and supplies. This is the Wal-Mart of outdoor stores which can be good, and bad. Reasonable prices are a good reason to keep coming back. On the whole, the staff is okay, but they are not super helpful...

Sorry I didnt get his name, but the man in the gun section showed me several different rifle bullets. He took the time to explain the benefits of the various hunting rounds. Customer service is hard to find, but he took the time.

I always liked Academy but I stood by the counter for 5 minutes and the guys behind it never said a word to me. They just talked to each other like I wasnt there. They have a lot to learn about service.

Went in to look at compound cross bows. Lee was very helpful. Academy does a price match and we saved an additional $35 for a Walmart match! Great deal! Friendly staff. Always find what we go in for!

This place has good employees there alway really nice and help me find what i need.. But its been over crowded with stock kinda makes it hard to just browse the store thats my only dislike
