Ive been going to The Exchange for over 20 years now. I remember when this particular location was across the street closer to the mall. Maybe, its the nostalgic side of me, but this place has lost a lot of luster for me over the years. I remember when trades were actually fair and made you want to come back and not hesitate to trade some more. Now? You barely get anything. And, not just on older stuff, but newer stuff as well. And I get it. Times change and to stay competitive you have to change out of necessity, but when you trade in an item and see it displayed for damn near 3 to 4 times what you got for it? That to me is just being greedy. I remember when you could negotiate a little. Say you were looking forward to getting a newer game. Ive been to multiple locations that would up your trade value if it was reasonable. Now? Theres no budge, no sympathy or kindness. Again, I get it. Times do change and the employees can only do what they are allowed to do. So, I know its not their faults, BUT! A thing I started experiencing at a few locations is this Clerks like attitude. Where the costumers are the inconvenience to the employees. I remember a instance where I literally stood there waiting for my trade to be called, but they were in the middle of what formats were better on DVD to worry about it. When I asked what the status of my trade is was? The one huffed, looked at me and told me that theyre still working on it. This was pass the 15 minutes they told me it would take. As a matter of fact it was around 25 when I finally caved in to ask about it. The shame of it all is it can still be a great place. The huge positive is the set up. The displays are always well kept and organized. I find myself going inside just to check out all the vintage toys, games and memorabilia, but the one thing that is always constant with me when I walk out and thats when I do? Its empty handed. And, its pretty much because I am educated on what items I am looking for. When I know I can get it cheaper somewhere else? I am going to get it there. Recent example would be the new Hitman game for PS4. Keep in mind I had zero intentions on getting it at The Exchange, but when I just bought it brand new at a competitor for $29.99 and see it used for almost $40? That just tells me that the care is not there at all. If youre going to sell it for that price? It should at least be new. That I could understand. Smaller businesses have to to compete. Lastly, and I kind of touched on it already. Is whoever is running this business? You need to understand that your costumers are well educated on the value of not only what items are worth, but on how much an item should go for too. Ive been personally collecting music and movies for a good chunk of my life. I know whats a good value and whats not. You have to take the Internet in account. With sites like Amazon, Diabolik Dvd, Deep Discount...etc. People will pay the extra as long as the service and price is fair. Also, you have to take in account social media. Facebook alone has constant feeds from distributors like Arrow, Criterion, Scream Factory...etc. Letting them know where they can get the best deals and when products will be available. Youre target consumers know whats up and you should be able to appreciate that fact. The reason I took the time to review this company is because I would much rather go to a physical location than online. I still believe there is hope for this to happen. Youre still in business. Make it happen. You have the potential to do so.

By and large one of the better retail chains catering to your oldschool game, music, and equipmemt needs. I have been here numerous times, picked up a number of rare and exceptionally good quality games for systems ranging from Atari 2600 to modern consoles. The staff has been friendly and courteous at all times, knowledgeable, and willing to look in other stores within their chain (even outside the state) to find games and other items of interest for you. As for the detractors, its the same as any other place that deals with movies or games. If you give them an overage of common games or movies that they may already have in stock and have to move (IE sell), you will not get much for them because of the costs involved with inventory and the fact that they are a larger chain with a lot of overhead. The price you get is relative to the items in question: if you want more cash, sell rarer items. Its that simple.

This store is terrible. I brought in a box of 45 CDs 10 DVDs and 5 Wii and Xbox games and they only would accept 3 of them an offered me 2 dollars for them. Its a bunch of crap. The CDs were in brand new condition, no scratches, no cracks on the cases and they were current and popular artists and bands. And the movies and games were current an in brand new condition and they told me they cant accept them due to the condition. I dont get it. Dont waste your time going to this place to sell stuff its not worth it. On the other hand I you go there to shop for stuff I think its worth it.

i used to come here often before the remodel and it was a good 3 star place but last time i went about a year or 2 ago to CHECK an offer It took almost an hour and not alot of people were in the store. The people there looked like 2004 hot topic and were edgy and rude. also overpriced buybacks is better but the one over here is closed. even the bookstore by this place is a better deal on games smh

A lot of stuff to buy at a great price and all but id have to say, the coustomer service is actually pretty rude. Especially the blonde chicks who talks like a robot to everyone and gives off a vibe that she is just so superior to everyone that asks her a question. Just makes me wonder who pissed in her cheerios or maybe I must have caught her at the wrong time of the month.

You will get more for your items and have a much better experience selling on Craigslist or Ebay. Save yourself the time and money and avoid this place. Most items can be found brand new on Amazon for less than the exchange is selling them for used. They make their money off people who are in a rush and dont know what their items are worth. Complete ripoff!

This is the best The Exchange in the area. The workers are pretty cool and are more than happy to help! I can get interesting items here at anytime. They will even look in their database and order items from other stores for you (EVEN STORES OUT OF STATE!). This is a great shop for almost any music, movie, and gaming needs!!

dont go here they are rude and do not care, regarding to Record store day , they dont find the need to order all the titles involved , will never step a foot in their shop again. Hiring subpar low paid employes reflects on their business. Again dont spend the time to give these folks your business .
