Worst (complete lack of) customer service. I was in the store today looking model paint. Didnt really know what I needed and had a few questions. As soon as I walked in the store there are three gentlemen sitting in the back talking I walked right by them to the paint area two of which look directly at me and none of which acknowledged my presence. Mind you I was also holding my one and a half year old daughter. I stood there looking at the different types of paints 4/15 minutes and not once was I asked if I needed help or even approached by anyone. During that timeframe two other customers came and went and we both probably greeted and assisted. I can only assume this was because they are frequent customers and knew each other by first name. Once I decided I couldnt make my decision without help and they are total lack of willingness to assist me I decided to leave. Even on the way out my presence was still not acknowledged. No goodbyes no did you need help with anything no have a nice day. I personally like to support local businesses but this experience totally turned me off to this place. I highly recommend you visit the other two large hobby stores in the area at least there youre greeted with a smile and asked if you need help with anything. So unless you know exactly what you want where it is I I would avoid this place at all costs.

I went there a couple of years ago and inquired about rc submarine type vehicles. I waited for help while the employee was helping another customer. I waited for well over 20 minutes. Not too big of a deal since I had never been in there so I would look around and circle back to the employee to make my presence known, wait a minute or so and look around again. The store was nearly empty that day so I was hoping to get some kind of acknowledgement. Did not happen. I decided to leave, but was intercepted by another employee. I told him what I was looking for and he showed me what they had. It was a small submarine that only went down when you propelled it forward, otherwise it floated to the surface. This was not what I was looking, but this is by no means their fault. The fault was in not helping beyond that. "Sorry, thats all we got." Thats what turned me off. Fast forward to today (Sunday 2-2-14) and the story was the same. I was looking for a fast ready to run rc truck and let them know I was a newbie and what I thought I wanted. He pointed me toward something comparable and immediately abandoned me to a customer who obviously knew his stuff. Oh, he never came out from behind the counter to help me, but walked all over the store with the experienced customer. I hope I dont forget this experience and end up back there.

Went to the RC show at Seagate Center on Saturday and brought a DFD F183W drone. Battery was not charging completely so I went to Hobbytown the next day. I asked the clerk if he carried the battery. Never acknowledged I was talking to him, just took the battery behind the counter. I followed and asked if he could test it. NO he shouted over his shoulder, never bothering to even turned around. Within 5 seconds he pronounced the battery was obsolete and could they did not stock it. Never offered to order it. There were probably 40 different batteries and Im pretty sure he never gave more than a cursory glance in the 10 seconds he took to look. I decided to look myself when another employee said I need to get out from behind the counter. You cant really tell if you are but OK. You think he asked if he could help look for the battery? Nope. Just walked away and complained to another employee about what a pain it was for all the RC show people showing up and wanting parts. This was my third time at Hobbytown and all 3 times the service was rude and ineffectual at best. Never going back to that store. EVER. Neither are my 8 yr old twin boys. I wish I could give ZERO stars.

Got into the rc hobby and thought this place would be my meca...DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! They mark up their product 10% and say for every $100 you spend you get $10 back. Makes you feel good! But really its false judgment. Also....i purchased a stampede at this store and they sold me a crappy charger that didnt even have the leads to charge my battery. Then i went back and wanted to buy an xmaxx and they wouldnt let me use my 10% on a $1000 truck and batteries. So i walked out...got everything cheaper and delivered to my doorstep from Amazon. I want to support the stores and the community but will not put up with poor service and pricing trickery. Hobby town usa will be out of business soon if they dont treat thier customers better and match online pricing. Go to thier store and look at their pricing online....everything is marked up instore. Online has different pricing...catastrophic.

Getting back into R/C cars (after a 30 year absence) and was looking for a good, trust-worthy, local hobby shop. Little did I know, I found this place about 10 miles from home. I stopped into get some Nitro Fuel (as it was a premium charge to get shipped from California - what a crappy state - so I decided to try to find it locally here in Ohio). Anyway, the prices are very comparable to online prices, and the staff was excellent. They even suggested some more options and I purchased them without hesitation - as the prices were right. The sales associate was even helping me while soldering a kids R/C buggy that broke. The store had a lot of traffic for a Tuesday at noon - was really surprised and glad I found this place. They dont stock everything (like the glow plug for my Kyosho), but a very good selection indeed. Ill be a repeat customer!

I will never shop at Hobbytown USA again. Every time I have been in there I have felt I was bothering the workers by asking for help. The people are not friendly. This was not a single incident. It has happened every time. In fact many of my co-workers whom have visited the store have been treated the same way so I know it’s not me. They tell me they will never shop there again too. I use to go to Hobbytown before the moved across the road (airport Hwy) in Springfield. When they moved I thought I would go check the new place out. I needed a prop anyway. Same crap again. Guy behind the desk was so rude. One other point, there stuff is priced on the high side. You are better off shopping on line. I will wait for shipping before I step foot in there store again.
