My 1st experience with petsmart was in 2010, I bought a female guinea pig here. She was beautiful, intelligent, easy to handle/train, loving, communitive. Long story short.. she lived 5 years, average - long years for GP. If I ever want another GP.. Im coming here. Now, Ive started back into the Aquarium hobby. I purchased 2 oranda goldfish and 1 Ryukin here. Its been little over a month and they too are friendly, beautiful, active, healthy. I am suspecting a mild internal bacterial or patasite infection... (the orandas have white stringy poo) But.. here is the thing.. pet stores purchase fish in bulk from breeders who typically breed and raise young fry in ponds or something similar. It can be little tricky keeping up with parasites n such. So.. hmm its little expected that a cheap baby goldfish might come with a problem like this. Its just way it is. However, it would be nice if petsmart ran a 2-3 week quarantine on all new fish, and also treated them with API General Cure over the period of guarantine. This would elimate any internal parasites as well as gill flukes. This is only reason Im rating 4/5 stars. I am currently treating my goldfish w API general cure. Hoping that it will clear up whatever is making their poo white n stringy. If it doesnt.. then I will try medication aimed at internal bacterial issues. Nonetheless.. the fish are incredibly active, happy, eat so well! Honestly.. I would still recommend petsmart to anyone wanting a GP or fish. Note to anyone setting up fish tank: Google "Cycling your aquarium" long before you even buy fish for your new tank. Fish need an environment rich in bacteria... not super clean. Set up your tank.. with water.. filter.. everything.. start up filter... add little fish food everyday .. but NO fish. Let your tank sit like this for at least 1-2 weeks BEFORE adding fish. Any kinda fish. If you want to speed up the cycle... add some Tetra Safe Start. This is basically bottled bacteria LOL. Seriously. It jumps starts your new tank with the good bacteria all fish need to help them have best life with you in their new home :) Hope this helps! Amy

I decided to go to this particular Petsmart for a few reasons. Here are some pros and Cons. Pros 1) Ive been shopping around for a new pair of Dumbo rats. Ive looked at breeders, petcos and Jaqs. I just couldnt find anything I was interested in. And I was told to stay away from petsmarts. 2.) This Petsmart seems to be VERY knowledgeable with their live animal section. They had proper bedding for the rats, a good water and food source, a hide out hut, and the tanks werent over populated for the small space. They housed about 4-5 rats a tank. I understand youre limited room, otherwise Im sure the tanks would have been larger. 3.) You had a good selection in rat based product. In fact, I got almost all of my ratties habitat items there at a great price. Food, hideouts,hammocks, wheels, ect. 4.) I was helped right away by a nice young girl with a ponytail. VERY friendly and was VERY patient with me while I made the decision. 5.) I was given a 14 day guarantee and the helper explain it all to me in detail. Cons: 1.) Again, the tanks were a little too small. The glass tanks that are used have been known to cause respiratory issues in rats. Which made me nervous at first. 2.) I wasnt given an age of my female dumbos. But Im guessing to be about 5-6 weeks. 3.) usually petsmart rats come from mills which always makes me nervous.

I dont like the Grooming Dept at all. If you take Ur animals to be Groomed, id stay and watch. But of course they will be sweet to ur animals while you are there. But, Ive watched for months and months to the point of calling and complaining, which did No Good. Like for example the last two days Ive been there this big tall and kinda on the heavy side being very rough and screaming at the dogs, like today a little Yorkie had knots in its hair and shes just yanking and yanking and screaming at him. You dont have to take my word for it just stand in in 1 of the Aisle one day and just watch and dont do it just for one day, do it a few days. Im not saying all PetSmart for this way but the one by the Dayton Mall I wouldnt take my eyes off of these people while they take care of my animals, just my opinion Im entitled to it. But Ive done everything else and this was the last resort as far as posting on their website. I feel so bad for some of these animals that get groom there that I just want to run in and grab them out of there period again just my opinion. We shop there often. We go usually twice a week between grooming, the vet, obedience, or buying supplies. Everyone is super friendly, always helpful and some even know my dogs by name. They go above and beyond to care for my pets and the trainers are always willing to offer advice without paying for a class but we have because my rescue puppy was a little trickier to train because of abuse before we got her. The improvement has been amazing and we are getting ready to sign up for another class. My dogs now recognize the store and cant get inside fast enough. The prices can be high but we are willing to pay more because of the selection and the amazing people that care for my babies so well.

Sales associate criticized and rudely remarked about animal and products purchased for animal. Store was dimly lit and birds were very sickly looking. I own several birds and was very sad when looking at the birds they had and their health. Birds were squeezing into nests that was not big enough for the amount in the cage. Cages were dimly lit causing them to not have much light and warmth. Several were sleeping and shaking. Prices were very high for rabbit supplies and very little to choose from that were on the shelf. Not interested in going back to this location. Very sad to see this.

Normally shop here for all my fish and dog needs. After today, I believe I will take my business elsewhere. Dan helped me out at the checkout by first not scanning my pet perks card but scanning a generic card. He said it didnt make a difference what card was scanned, it wouldnt change anything. So why do I have a pet perks card if employees are going to scan whatever card they want. Then after telling him that something was priced 3 dollars cheaper, he wanted to argue more. Wow!! Total lack of respect! My shopping days with them is now done!

Ive worked at PetSmart since the beginning of last month, and have become incredibly passionate about this company. Not only do they care about their pets, ensuring all are checked out by the vet and maintaining cleanliness and comfort for them as well, but the staff is friendly and eager to help out anyone, human or animal, who needs assistance.

We usually go to this petsmart, the employees here are friendly and helpful. For the questions we have asked, the staff seems knowledgeable and willing to assist. We have gone to the groomer section quite a bit too, they do a fantastic job...only downside is that almost anyone can pick up your pet.
