I had a bad customer service experience. I had done extensive research before entering the store as to what I wanted to try as alternative medicine to assist my childs tooth cavity. Among other things I was going to try Fermented Cod Liver Oil. Sounds simple enough. When I couldnt find the item on the shelf I went to the customer service desk. I asked for product by name and was asked what I wanted it for. I told them for my sons oral health. The first person I talked to did not direct me to the product but instead directed me to another customer service rep, who in turn did not direct me to the product but directed me to another customer service rep. She walked me over to the natural toothpastes, and on her recommendation I put one in my basket. She did not direct me to the product I was seeking but kept telling me that what I wanted was calcium. I did not want to get into a discussion as to why I wanted the product I did in particular, and how much calcium I already consume on a daily basis. To my dismay this third customer service representative did not direct me to the product I was looking for and requested of her and of the other two customer service reps by name; Fermented Cod Liver Oil. She also in turn diverted me to someone else: A Customer! Hey, so and so, you know about this stuff what does she need for her child, the customer just said you have to talk to my wife. The customer and the rep who had been helping me then proceeded to begin a private conversation right in front of me. Then, because I am a polite person, and was the entire visit, I told her Thank You, and began to walk away. She said Youre Welcome. At check out I did have a pleasant experience. I hope that all can see why I only gave the store one star. It was a long drive for me to get there, and it was at the recommendation of other ratings listed here that I decided to go there. I feel it is only fair to other potential customers such as myself that they are given a more accurate picture of what their experience may be like at the store. I know this is a bit long winded, but Ive worked in customer service off and on at various places over the years and I happen to know that with just a few changes, this store could be a great place to shop. But as for me, I will be driving an even further distance to try shopping at another health food store in kettering. Thanks for listening.

Bad experience with 2 staff members following me and my brother around the store in a discriminatory manner last night. Ive been shopping there for almost a year and half (since I moved here), and they know Ive spent thousands of dollars in their store. I will not subject myself to such gross mistreatment and bad vibes when Im out shopping for natural foods. There is a high concentration of health food stores within a 20-mile, and even more so 50-mile radius of Dayton, and Earth Fare, Whole Foods, & Alternative treat me in a much more welcoming manner. I do like most of the employees there and theyre very nice and helpful normally, but last night was unacceptable. Im experienced in hotel management and customer service, and I know thats no way to treat people who are in your store buying products, keeping to themselves, and being overly nice to your employees day in, day out, even looking past the weird transphobic stare downs I get from time to time (yes I do notice them, just like I noticed you following me around last night).

I come here for the bulk herbs, fish and essential oils, supplements, and the cold room. They also have a fantastic amount of bar soaps and if I couldnt control myself Id be walking out with three bars of soap per visit. I also buy canned Evo cat food here as its the best price for a retail location around here. I always get a hemp seed brownie when I go to HFU. Rich and delicious, I recommend it. I have never had problems with customer service, indeed, they are very helpful and let me pester them with questions. Theres always someone around willing to grab a stepping stool and grab a 24-pack of cans off the top of the rack as I am only 56". A couple weeks back I went there and locked my keys in my car. I went back in and asked if the police in the area would unlock cars, but the manager went in the back and brought an employee who had a car unlock kit. He opened my car in <30 seconds. Saved me from having to call a professional service! Love this place, will always come back.

I grew up in Dayton and always went here for my food, beauty products, supplements and everything in between. LOVE everything about this place. The desserts are amazing and I love their cold room and bulk nuts. There are things here that I could never find anywhere else in Dayton. I live in Columbus now and whenever Im in town visiting, I always have to stop in. They also always have the best deals compared to other stores, especially compared to Whole foods. The service has always been exceptional and every associate has always been able to locate my needs. Now if only I could have one of these gems in Cbus!!

They carry a large selection of foods, but some of the things I find there are much more expensive than what Kroger charges for the same product (like allergen free vitamins) and gluten free bread. I have also had problems with their customer service. I had a container of vitamins that had a broken seal. I didnt want my money back...just a new container of vitamins and the cashier and customer service agent were both terribly rude (it disgusted me). I finally spoke to the manager about it and she gave me new vitamins. I only go there for things I cannot get anywhere else.

Health Foods Unlimited is hands-down the best health food store Ive ever been to. Its quite large and carries everything a health food nut might want. The produce section contains a nice assortment of fruits and vegetables, many of which are locally sourced in the summer. The stock tends to be very fresh, too. They also carry a HUGE selection of herbal teas, tinctures, essential oils, bath and body items, eco-friendly household goods, cleaning products, and even makeup. I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The Dayton area is lucky to have this store!!!

Incredible health food store, truly! I travel all over the country and this is one of the nicest, cleanest, most well-stocked natural product stores anywhere. They have a cold room for all of the raw nuts and nut flours! The whole store is immaculate, and the staff are all well-informed and hard-working. In addition to all of that, the prices are phenomenal. I wish I lived closer so I could shop here more!

Health Foods Unlimited is the best place on Earth go for heath foods and supplements... PERIOD! The owers are old school and care 110% about your great health, The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are the very best in the Tri-State area! It is worth the drive folks... AAAAA+++++ :)

Everything in the store is RIDICULOUSLY over-priced! Save your money and just use EBAY, or go to a supermarket. Every item they carry can be found on Ebay for a LOT less
