I purchased an engagement ring from Benjamin Private Jewelers and was given the matching stone appraisal. Upon taking the ring to several reputable local jewelers I was told that the appraisal overvalues the stone by at least two (2) grades. And was told that the ring was worth less than half of what I paid. I asked Benjamin about this and his response was that that particular rating service (EGL) typically over values stones and that "everyone knows that". I explained to him that Im not a jeweler nor do I trade in jewelry, so theres no way for me to know that and that its something he should have told me when I purchased the ring so I could make an informed decision prior to purchase.

Ive known Benjamin for the past few years and have worked with him a lot. My husbands family has used him for years! Ive only ever seen the absolute BEST quality of work and customer service with him. He is extremely detail oriented when it comes to his work and very honest, he will not let you down. My engagement ring appraisal through a separate 3rd party (for insurance purposes) was more than double what we paid for it. Ive referred 10+ other couples to him who were looking for engagement rings. They all took my advice and I have yet to hear one bad thing! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

I went to Benjamin Private Jewelers after visiting several other jewelers in Charlotte. The difference was amazing. Here was a person who truly is an expert not only with diamonds but in understanding what I was looking to create. My fiance asked a lot of questions and Benjamin was very patient and explained all the details of what makes one stone different from another. There was never any pressure to buy, in fact we were even encouraged to take all the time we needed before making any decision. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a special experience in buying jewelry.

Extremely unprofessional... I was working with Rodney on my engagement ring that l wanted custom made.. I honestly feel that since I was bringing my own center diamond and only needed the setting made.. maybe I wasnt bringing in enough of a profitable sale for him to actually go thru the hassle so he started blowing me off...Just very unprofessional and hard to do business with .. We ended up going to Valencia Jewelers and they are AMAZING.. Wayyy better to deal with regarding pricing, customer service and availability!
