I came here for my first tattoo but I wish I knew what a good tattoo looked like before I got one. I was setup with Wayne and the price was fairly good compared to other shops around the area. He helped me with the design and drew it up. My first tattoo was great but wasnt very detailed like I wanted it to be from the design I got off Tumblr. Sort of like a dumbed down version. I didnt know better and ended up liking it still. so I went back for two more a few weeks later and again he gave me a pretty cheap price. My mistake. The second tattoo was okay but I have dark skin and Im not sure he really knew how to tattoo dark skin, and not to mention he pierced my skin pretty deep so some parts of the tattoo is raised from scarring. If you have dark skin make sure you find an artist that knows how to tattoo dark skin. at this point it was still healing so I didnt realize until I weeks later when it was healed up and I had already got the third tattoo. Now lets talk about the last tatto I got from him which made me stop going all together. Again he gave me a cheap price for it, I wanted a black dotwork tattoo which looked pretty cool with it being all dots. He showed me the drawing and I asked where are the dots? But he said I wont draw them until we actually tattoo your arm. Well okay thats fine then. After that he completely half assed the tattoo. I clearly wanted a dotwork design but instead he shaded the areas in part way with black then faded the edges with dots. No its supposed to be all dots. So now with my dark skin it looks like I have a big black blob for a tattoo. After seeing other friends tattoos and how detailed and nicely done they were I feel like mine were rushed. Wish I knew before hand.

Im giving three stars because I ALMOST got a tattoo here. My friend and I gave our ideas to the artist that was available. My friend wanted Allah in Arabic and I wanted a Harry Potter symbol. The artist was printing what he found on the computer to pick from. Because we were walk-ins, we ran out of time describing our ideas and had to reschedule, paying $50 for a deposit. The image that the artist brought back from the printer of "Allah" did not look familiar, as Ive seen it written in Arabic a few times. I found a fluent speaker online, emailed him a picture of the print-out and he replied via email, that the word was "tattoo." Basically, make sure your have your foreign calligraphy worked out BEFORE visiting this place. We dodged a bullet. Still glad we paid $50 for NOT getting the word "tattoo" tattooed on my friends chest.

My girlfriend got pierced here and there were some pros and cons. Cons: No privacy curtains or booths. We werent offered any options for wire gage or ring diameter. (Let me clarify that we didnt ask, either, knowing we could change jewelry once the piercings heal.) Pros: Price was less than half of other places we called. Piercer was very professional and personable. Offered rings or bars as options for jewelry. Other employees went outside to offer privacy. (There were no other customers at the time.) Piercings have healed very well and are excellently placed. We were given good instructions for how to care for and heal the piercings with explanations of why. The place has a cool tattoo atmosphere without being skeezy or dirty.

I came here to get my second tattoo, the beginning of my half sleeve. I was pretty picky about where I would go because I wanted something new - a watercolor looking tattoo. Its located in NoDa across from a yummy taco place. I was tattooed by Mark, who paid a lot of attention to what I wanted and executed it pretty perfectly. The studio is clean and well lit, not too sketchy, and the prices are great. They dont make it awkward at all, and they give you good conversation, but its difficult to stay still because all you want to do is laugh. Its like theyre working for friends rather than a client. Im definitely going to continue going there for my tattoo and piercings as long as I live in Charlotte. Very happy!

Getting tattooed is a life decision. I have had many experiences, some good and some bad. There are 2 things that you must consider when choosing a shop. First, the quality of artist. Second, the environment of the shop. If there is tension and discord, you will not have a good experience and will associate your tattoo with that. At 510 Expert they have not only the best artist, but the best atmosphere. I have many tattoos, and after searching for a long time, I have finally found the shop that I call home. All the artists are at the top of their game, and the atmosphere of the shop is laid back and friendly. Its the only place I will go.

Waited well over an hour to try and get a 3 minute tattoo (was told theyd get me in 30 minutes). Ended up going back to the chair to tell the guy what I wanted, where he preceded to tell me I didnt want a finger tattoo. I said okay well lets try my wrist. I showed him a picture of what I wanted, and instead of printing it off he thought hed just free hand it. Not caring about my opinion of where or how I wanted it placed just told me how I needed it. The drawing looked nothing like what I wanted, so I ended up walking out with nothing. He was overall rude and this shop doesnt have it all together.

I flew from California to N.C. to visit my Girlfriend and she decided while in Charlotte that she wanted to get a medical alert logo tattooed on her arm so we went to 501 Expert Tattoo shop. The artist there were very friendly. After I seen the Great job that Evan had done I decided to get inked myself. I was dead set against getting any color on mine because I like black and grey style, but Evan convinced me to add some red to it and wow he was right. I will be going back for more ink!!!!!!!

My best friend and I got our second set of tattoos at 510 Expert Tattoos just after Christmas. We both went in with pretty firm ideas about what we wanted. Mark was absolutely amazing! Both designs came out perfectly even with the small details! I would recommend these guys to everyone I know (and I have)! They really make you feel like friends instead of just a paycheck. And you simply cant beat their prices! Hands down, 510 Expert Tattoo is the best place for tattoos in the Charlotte Area.

I went here for my first tattoo. It was just a shoulder tattoo, nothing too big or extravagant. After it healed the lines were super clear. Some of my coloring fell out (probably since its my first tattoo and taking care of it was so new to me) so a few months later I went back and they touched it up for free. Now my tattoo looks awesome and I could not be happier. The price is fair and the guys are great. I had Mark do my tattoo and touch up. I am more than satisfied with how it turned out.
