My experience with this shop was horrible. A friend and I were interested in getting a very small and simple tattoo design (essentially the outline of a heart with a crown). Typically, I know its best to make appointments, but we decided to take our chances as walk ins that day. I called the shop and asked if they were busy and could take a few quick walk ins and the receptionists said yes. When we got there, the shop looked dirty and there was only one artist and a receptionist, who had her kid running around. They were very friendly people and the artist said he would be able to get us in as soon as he finished with his last client. Despite my initial nervousness about the condition of the shop, I decided not to let that sway me since I have been to amazing shops in the past that didnt have the nicest appearance. However, it didnt take long after that to realize we had made a mistake. When the artist was ready for us, he called us back and asked if we had a picture of what we wanted. Upon saying yes, he had his receptionist pull up the picture online to print it out and trace it. She pulled it up in a word document and proceeded to stretch and manipulate the image to the point where it didnt even look like the same one. When she printed it out and attempted to trace it, the results were terrifying. It was supposed to be a very simple heart, but it was lopsided and looked like the kid had drawn it. She complained that the picture was a weird shape. The artist came out after hanging up the phone and explained that he would fix it and we felt better momentarily since we overheard that the receptionist was new. While the artist traced our image, he complained to us about the lady he just hung up the phone with and started bashing other tattoo shops around the area, saying that the artists were always shooting up drugs. When he presented us his traced image, I was stunned. It was just as horrible as the one she had drawn. There was no way I was getting that on my body forever. I apologized for wasting their time but explained that we needed to leave suddenly. To which the artist responded, "I can get you both done in ten minutes." Please take my advice and make an appointment at a more reputable shop. I am amazed that this shop is still in business when they couldnt even draw a simple heart, talked badly about other shops, and would have done quick, sloppy work. The people were very nice, and I cant say that enough. But I am appalled at their "artwork."

GOT BETTER TATTOOS IN PRISON than at this b*llsh*t place!!!!!!!!!! My fiancé and I went here in June. It was my first tattoo. My man has lots of tattoos, he has a lot of lettering from when he was locked up.... We got writing on our pinkys. (All the shops we spoke with warned that the lines may bleed, some fading... so we expected that.) What we didnt expect was that after a MONTH, some of letters were hardly there! They were cool when we got our tattoos. The dude who did them said if we needed them touched up, come back and hed do it for free for the 1st touch up. We both heard him say that, that was one reason we liked this place...at first. Mine was alright, a little shaky on a couple letters.. but my fiancés had uneven lines, some lines were thicker then the others, and shaky. We took care of them just like dude said. (My fiancé has tats on his hands and they arent faded, arent shaky, and the lines are ACTUALLY even, this is from when he was locked up!! ) After a couple weeks my fiancés faded so bad, you can hardly see some of the letters. Now mine needs touched up. This is only like 1-2 months after we got them. So since the owner said, "come back and well give you a touch up for free".... we thought "sure", since he didnt do well in the first place. We made an appointment and went to get them redone. The dude who was supposed to do them wasnt there, but one of his little friends was. He said dude tried to call us a couple times that day. Which he didnt. (we checked the phone for 3 days back, no phone calls from them). NONE. So that was a lie. His little friend at the shop said it was going to be $30 for the touch up which is b.s since he did shoddy work to begin with. Plus, he told us before 1st touch up is free. He never said a price when we went in to make the appointment. So what happened was dude lied, was greedy, incompetent, and a P*SSY since he wasnt even there to tell us himself...... Do yourselves a favor and go to someone who has TALENT, BALLS, and POLISH, b/c you wont find it here.

I called and made an appointment with Big John (who was very polite) for Tuesday at 5:30pm. On my way there I was feeling optimistic until I arrived and found a note taped to the front door that said," Went out for dinner, be back at 6". So I waited outside for an hour until they returned (at 6:30). At this point I was a little upset for having waited, and I attempted to negotiate the price. A woman who I assume was the owner, replied to my offer, " Hell no, you can go back to the basement for all I care." My 1st offer was low because I was negotiating, but after her response I walked out, and they chuckled as I left might I add. They were an hour late for my appointment and then proceeded to be rude and insult me. I have never had such bad customer service ANYWHERE. I now have an appointment with Jack at Artistic Demographics for $20 more than what I would have paid at Steel City Ink. But I would pay $20 more to be treated like a person, any day. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where they appreciate their clients. No respect.

both my wife and i have gone to hollywood ink and were both very happy with the results. we are both teachers, and have always felt welcomed and "safe" at hollywood. i know these reviews are usually friends or even employees, but my wife and i are not, and honestly the only reason im even writing this now is because i took a personal day off tomorrow (because WOO HOO ncaa tournament!) and just tried to call them and come in for a quick, small tattoo and they didnt answer/were closed....but since i found this site looking for their phone number, i figured i should at least give them the positive review that they deserve. the husband/wife owners are always there and will make you feel comfortable if its your first tattoo experience or your 10th. im pretty sure my real name will be used in this review and im okay with that, as hollywood ink have given me several tattoos and most likely tomorrow i will be going back.

I went in today to get a tattoo and it was a great experience. It was my first tattoo and John was very nice and friendly with my friend and I. The place was clean and everything checked out. Ive been wanting a tattoo for years, but could never find a place that I thought did good work until I found Steel City Ink. They did a fantastic job on my lettering and a fantastic job on my friends shading. Will definitely be going there again and will recommend to all my friends.
