For more than 20 years of traveling from San Francisco to North Carolina and many places inn-between, Ive searched for a place like Haywood Comics / Games. It was near a year ago that they opened up and Ive watched them grow to being the Awesome place they are right now... With more to offer as time continues to move them forward...as a Gamer, Novice Writer, Comic book Novice and Anime weirdo...and an Ex-Chef, father of 2. This place offers opportunity to the public they service with a kind and respectful & Honorable Owner / Staff...theyre friendly and helpful to many whom venture in, both the Experienced & Novice alike, to help them find or obtain what these customers are looking for. Unlike many businesses that are only for the bottom-dollar, Haywood Comics / Games seeks the human aspect of business and for much of the United States (aside of the rare "Mom/Pop" shops)......that is a lost sense of perspective. Much is bound to happen with any new place / business yet with "Haywood Comics & Games" they are willing to meet anyone on a level of Professionalism that I find is Respectful and I personally enjoy them.....NO, I professionally enjoy them. As I said; "Ive traveled thousands of miles to find this place" & Im grateful they are here... Id like to add an update to this post, pertaining to this past Friday July 14, 2017........ Among Wednesday RPG (roll playing game) night with Pathfinder / D&D (Dungeons and Dragons), Thursday night Hero Clix, Saturday night Table top / Board Games and their Coloring Book Night which is socially fun. Haywood Comics and "Games" just added their first Friday Night Magic (or FNM) to the many lists of excellent things to do at one place. Ive played MTG {Magic the Gathering of "Wizards of the Coast"} since late Beta when WotC was still young -- thats 20 or so years ago..."I feel old...lol". I can truly say that this FNM was one of the best Ive been to inn / out of my Official DCI tournaments, I had a great deal of fun but the fun didnt end with me everyone had fun. This was the first casual MTG Ive played since my collage days, some 20 years ago...it was fun because i got to see my son, his friend and others get REALLY excited to play and laugh with no pressures of the official DCI tournaments.....many friends were made that night and I really hope to have another FNM soon. Thank You "Haywood Comics & Games" for hosting this opportunity of FNM, It was one the Best moments in a very long time!

Its great to have an additional independent business that sells comic books in Asheville. There are so few of them. I have only been in a couple times, but the staff member (who also may be the owner?) is exceedingly friendly and helpful. She also makes suggestions and asks questions, which is uncommon at a lot of businesses. They may not have the largest selection in graphic novels, which is primarily what I am looking for when I visit, but they do have some great titles. I also think its super rad that they have a whole section of older video game consoles. I would recommend checking it out!

Haywood Comics is awesome! Doug and Morgan are really good people, and its a nice atmosphere to go in and geek out for a bit. Its a smaller store, so the selection is limited, but theres always a good mix of comics, graphic novels, vinyl records, toys and video games. Plus they have a great rating system... For every purchase over $10 you get a star. Collect 5 stars and get $10 off your next purchase. In addition to that, Doug usually sends out a $5 coupon at least once a month to everyone who is on the mailing list. Go check them out!

My favorite place in all of Asheville. Morgan and Doug are quite simply, the nicest people in all of West Asheville. If they dont have what youre looking for, they will place an order for you right away. Not only is their comic and vinyl selection wonderful, but they have, hands down, the best retro video game collection in town (possibly all of western NC). I was amazed to see they had Chrono Cross for the SNES there. I go to HC about once a week and I never leave disappointed! -This is Mikey, by the way. Hi Doug or Morgan!

Haywood comics is a wonderful establishment. There is a surprisingly wide range of very cool toys, video games, comics, and vinyl in a relatively small space. The store might be a bit much if it wasnt for the state of the art reference system they had. Her name is Morgan. She was enthusiastic, professional, and most assuredly the most helpful retail employee Ive experienced in a very long time. She knew exactly where the things I was interested in were and pointed me to things I didnt even know I was interested in.

Excellent small comics shop and retro game store. Mostly current issues, so no longboxes for hunting around in, but their selection of titles and publishers is wide and varied. Limited selection of graphic novels, about on par with a smaller Barnes & Noble. Decent collection of board games, figures and collectibles. The retro gaming side of the business isnt comprehensive, but its bad for the small space of the shop. The staff was extraordinarily helpful on my visit, which counts for a lot.

By far the best retro video game/comic/card shop in Asheville. Ive been to the others and those stores seem like a wal mart compared to haywood games n comics. Morgan and doug always go above and beyond to help me out and i swear i get 30-40% more in trade in value when i trad my old games to them. Not to mention ive requested items (like the new pokemon generations set) and they are getting the next wave in!!! I will only go to haywood games from now on.

WoW! Just hung out for an hour plus and scoped out the store. Second time in-Doug and Morgan Rock! Theyre very knowledgeable and friendly. Been collecting Marvels Hip-Hop variant covers and theyre totally trying to help me round out the collection. So much to look at and was pleasantly surprised by the vinyl selection! Awesome to walk in a comic and novelty shop and not get the snub. Welcome to the neighborhood-see yall soon!

I have a lot to say about this amazing store so here goes: Haywood comics is by far one of the best store on Haywood and it is only rivaled by Orbit. But what makes it so unique is its run by only TWO people! I wont give their names, but they are terrific and have run a successful store for almost a year now! Lets just say I am most certainly a regular and will not change for anything, I love supporting this store. 11/10

Great little place! Its how I got hooked into comics for myself. Always been a shy fan, but they carry such a great variety of comics, that I was able to find a few series I never considered before. This past weekend, we decided to treat our family visiting from out of town for a comic. They loved it too. Plus, a nice photo op with Batman on the side of the building ;)

A personal favorite in Asheville. The store is a smaller spot with a full selection of new issues and several graphic novels. Tons of retro game and game system options as well as table top selections. Atmosphere is very welcoming, including retro music videos playing on a large white screen in the middle of the store.
