My husband and I went here a few years ago. Id just begun knitting and wanted to look at some high end yarns. When I went to check out, the cashier stared at me and the credit card. She questioned my identity. She literally asked me if the signature on the credit card I handed her was really mine. She asked to see my drivers license and when I gave it to her she studied it, studied me, studied the card, and then said that the signatures didnt match and asked me why. Really?? Sorry, but my signature is sloppy and always looks a bit different each time I write it. Anyway, she made me feel like a criminal and all I was trying to do was purchase about $30 worth of yarn. I will never step foot in that store again. I left there feeling so abused for no reason other than wanting to try a nice yarn and support a local business. If you decide to go, be prepared to be treated poorly.

I do agree with others about the rude owners. I have shopped here a few times and have had mixed experience with the rudeness of the owners. As for them keeping an eye on wild children running around and destroying there property, I agree with them. Parents need to keep their children under control. Its not WalMart. But, the staff could be a bit friendlier to their customers. As others have mentioned, I had the same experience with them on the credit card issue. They really dont want to take cards, but dont have much choice in this day and age. They need to suck it up and understand that it is a cost of doing business now days. They do have a good selection of items that are difficult to find locally though.

I travel from Florida to Asheville, and visit this shop each time. Cant get enough of it. I am a fiber artist and instructor, and love the variety of rovings, weaving supplies, and dyes, etc. I always have a good experience, and have received good responses to my (sometimes) dumb questions. To those who want to bring children, please keep them by the hand or leave them with a friend to go for a walk while you shop. Their tactile experience can be at home, after you have made a purchase and taken it home for them to play with. I love kids, but keep in mind that sticky hands can compromise fine, expensive fibers!

I have traveled to Earth Guild and made purchases from Earth Guild in the past ---- however my recent attempts to order on line were not successful. I ordered on 8/24 and received the expected order # and indications a followup email will provide details. Here on 9/20 (4 weeks later) and requests for updates or delivery estimates or final charges seem to be falling on deaf ears. Experiences when in the actual store were without issue --- however just a caution when ordering on line. I received no response no product --- what a shame but lesson learned. I cancelled my order.

I love this store. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and even talkative. I love the selection. They seem to have everything Ive ever wanted to play with; fiber, yarn, clay, embroidery, etc. While I was there, 2 people sat down and started reading some of the books that are for sale. The staff wasnt very happy about that. People who want to browse their books and take pictures of things should understand, this is a STORE, not a LIBRARY! However, the staff treated them very politely. More so than I would have.

My wife shops here occasionally to get crafting things she needs, but the employees are incredibly rude. It makes no sense. If you have a small curious child, best to have them in a stroller or not bring them at all, you will be scolded and scoffed at. (Im not talking crazy destructive behavior, just a kid being curious and picking up a ball of yarn or something). Its a shame they arent more hospitable to the people keeping them in business.

Ive been into the store about three times now. Once, on a weekday. Never treated anything but sweetly. A calm atmosphere but probably not a place for your littles to wander freely. Its a grown up kind of store with things you might not want them handling. Excellent selection and things I cant get anywhere else locally. Asheville trips are a luxury for us as its a 3 hour trip both ways. This store always makes it worth the trip.

Wide selection of good quality craft products but the ill mannered woman that runs the place was so rude & treated me with such disrespect that that I was furious when I left that store! I know that anyone can have a bad day so I went back a second time only to be treated worse than the first time.! I will not go back for more abuse. Thankfully she doesnt have the only craft store around!! I give the place a negative ten!

Good variety of books and tools but the rude lady working there makes the experience of this store not worth it. Go elsewhere. She was pretentious and treated me like a stupid child when i was checking out with a card and insinuated i didnt have the money to pay. Give someone more humble and friendlier your dollars.

I have been in several times, and while they certainly know their stuff, they are prickly with the customers. I got a bunch of attitude for asking a few questions. This is one of the few weaving suppliers in NC, otherwise, I doubt theyd still be in business. I go there anyway, but I dont go expecting help.

I have yet to be treated kindly at the establishment. I have a business that can benefit regularly from Earth Guild, but the prices and service dont make it worth it. I *would* pay more for good service and to support local business. I take my business online though, unless I am in a bind.

I was able to find some weaving tools that I needed, priced comparably to online retailers. I prefer spending my $$$ locally if possible, so Ill be back. Store employee was helpful and pleasant. Interesting store!

UNBELIEVABLY RUDE!!!! I seriously dont see how this place is in business with how they talk to customers. There are plenty of other places to get the same supplies. I will never set foot in that shop again!!!!!

Have no idea what that one star review is talking about. Everyone is helpful and good natured. For someone who doesnt weave but shops for one who does , its nice to have such a selection and help.

Great to have a local source of weaving, dying, knotting, kumihimo, etc. fibers and equipment. Their expertise in these fields has always been of great value to me.

I really appreciate the level of expertise in this store and being able to find everything I want to play with in one magical place. They are always nice to me!

Very poor customer service, or none at all. The selection is not even that good compared to the other yarn shops around.

No craft supplies as it says.. Your "littles" dont need to be roaming freely in ANY store!

They carry some sizes of knitting needles that are pretty hard to find.
