6.5 out of 5 star service @ City Mac AVL on Tunnel Road I want to take a moment to point all you tech-sophisticated, but maybe not so tech-savvy about the inner-workings of you MacBook Pro to an invaluable resource in our community--City Mac. After several hours of google search and YouTube videos, a few choice expletives, and my blood pressure escalating to stroke level, I decided to pay a visit to City Mac for some much needed help. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by two guys (Hagen & Andy) ready to help. I cannot say enough about these two. They both have this very disarming and patient, high-touch people skills that puts the customer at ease and reassures the customer that they are going to do everything in their power and knowledge base to help solve the problem. Oh and by the way, they do this for EVERYONE. I watched several customers come in, all receiving individualized, non discriminate attention. They took their time with me and worked through a multitude of trouble-shooting options. The long and short of it is that I walked out with my issues resolved, my stress levels at a peaceable calm and feeling like the future was bright. Not to mention, I also left with a few new mac techie skills/resources to use later down the road. When you decide to pay a visit to City Mac on Tunnel Rd, be sure to ask for either Andy or Hagen. They hopefully are in line for some much needed promotions and may even be running the store by the time you visit, but youll be in the best of capable, friendly hands! Thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU Hagen and Andy! You did something I could NEVER do for myself. I am beyond grateful. You guys have been a household topic, we are so appreciative for your brilliant tech talent and delightful people skills. Well be back, hopefully just to say hi, but you never know ;)

Pointless. What is the benefit of purchasing something in a brick-and-mortar store if they dont actually stand behind what they sell you? I bought a Magic Trackpad here less than two months ago, and it is faulty. Constant phantom clicking that makes it impossible to use. I brought it in, with receipt, and even though they were able to reproduce the problem immediately in-store, I was told Id have to deal with Apple corporate directly to get an exchange. So I called Apple corporate who confirmed that because I had the receipt and the product was well within the one-year warranty, it should be no problem to get it exchanged. They gave me a case number and told me to call City Mac again. City Mac once again said they could not help me unless they received a call directly from Apple Corporate confirming that they would be covering the item. I called Apple support again, and one of their people called City Mac directly to help me with the issue. The Apple support person then called me back and said that City Mac would not exchange the item unless I took it in, waited for Apple to ship them a new one, and then went back in to pick it up (note, they have brand new ones in stock sitting there that they could just give me). Instead, Apple support offered to just ship me a new one directly. So even though Apple confirmed they would cover the item, and City Mac has them in stock sitting on the shelf, I have to wait three to four business days for a new one to be shipped to me and will not have one to use for work Monday morning. Highly frustrating, highly unprofessional, and City Mac will certainly not be getting any more of my business.

Billy - CityMac is a lifesaver. My power adapter died the night before and just to have a store down the road from my house was wonderful. With in a half an hour I had a new cord, covered under my warranty, and am able to use my charged computer again. While my computer was processing Gregge took the time to talk about my needs as a MacBook user and set me up with services to help manage my professional life through my Mac better. He even went so far as to explain the benefits of an extended warranty (I asked) in a way that did not assume that I would buy it. He really made sure I understood what was happening. When your lively hood is stored on a computer that won’t turn on it is blissful to hear that everything is ok. To put it in perspective I had a similar occurrence happen with an old Dell and after 45 minutes on the phone with a guy in another country I had a new adaptor ordered that would arrive at my house in 3-5 day’s. I can’t even imagine what I would be doing right now if I owned a PC, go back to BestBuy!! I can’t say enough good things about CityMac and their service staff, Asheville, we are lucky.

my wifes iPad quit receiving signal more than 10 feet from router. Took iPad by CityMac on Tunnel road for diagnosis. they said the software was working well, but since the iPad was so old "4 years" !! they could not replace the "internal antenna" without replacing the entire internal parts of the iPad and would be at least a $300 minimum cost. Soooo.... I stopped by the "SmartPhone" repair shop in Brevard NC by the Barber shop and asked Robert if he could replace the internal Antenna, since CityMac could not. He said "sure I can" .... I left it with him for a few days, and when I picked it up it worked perfectly... just like it had the last 4 years!! Thank you Robert....and "Shame on you CityMac"...the cost was $30 dollars.... thats "thirty dollars" ....not $300!!! and better yet my wife is happy ....playing her games on the couch after work!!

Me: Heres my mac repeatedly crashing, then I couldnt reinstall the os. CM: Ok, we reinstalled the OS, here you go. It passed all the hardware tests. Me (a week later): My mac is doing the same thing CM: Ok, we reinstalled the OS, here you go. It passed all the hardware tests. That will be $90. Me: You didnt fix anything. CM: Ok, well waive the fee, but next time well charge you. I then take it to Charlotte Street Computers Me: Heres my mac repeatedly crashing, then couldnt reinstall the os. CSC: It passed all the hardware tests but we can replicate what youre seeing well try replacing the logic board. Me: Great. CSC (a week later): Ok, replaced the logic board fixed most of the issues, we then reinstalled the os and restored your data and that fixed it. Me: Great, thanks! I would have given CityMac one star, but the people were nice.

The staff was friendly & helpful...my only complaint is the length of time, both dropping off my I-phone for repair & picking up my new iPhone they ordered, I was at the store. Dropping it off & picking up I was at the location over an hour both visits. However I will say, they worked diligently in setting up a loner phone for me, when I went in for phone repair, until my phone could be properly checked and/or a new one ordered (which is what had to happen, as mine was beyond repairing). Thank you to all the staff for making a horrible situation more bearable & pleasant. To the lady who ran me over (literally) while she was running, that broke my phone...stopping and saying "Im sorry! Are you ok?" Is polite & simply good manners, dont just keep running after you hurt someone!
