Broke Ass Retro Gamer
Long Island is a hard place to run a business and i totally get that, you have to pay the rent each month and what most stores pay i dont even know how they stay in business. I really do like this store and the selection is fantastic especially if your in the market for retro games. It blows the Play N Trade thats by me out of the water. I have heard things from other people about the owner being a little condescending towards customers, i have only been in the store a few times and i have met the owner and i did not get that vibe off of him at all. And the rest of the staff i spoke with seemed nice and knowledgeable as well so i have nothing to say about any of that. So the main reason for my score of a 3/5 is due to the prices. You can find a lot of the games sold at the store cheaper elsewhere but its not like the first game you look up on Ebay is going to be cheaper then the game sold in the store, what im saying is that i can find the same games cheaper but usually you have to search and scour the internet for a while to find the same game for a few bucks less and that isnt always the case but more often then not it is. Retro games are not cheap anymore and renting a brick and mortar shop is not cheap either so i feel for the owner of this store. He is trying to make a living selling retro games which is a much smaller market then the current video game market. I can only imagine how hard it must be to stay open and make money doing this. But the fact is when you can save a buck or two by going online most of the time without leaving the home it makes it less likely i will spend the gas money and time to come into the store. So yes i love this store and its fun being surrounded by my past but a lot of people (myself included) wont get passed the prices. I want this store to succeed and i would love to see another one pop up in my neighborhood in East Northport. Good day to you all.

I had a terrible experience here trying to trade an old Playstation 3 system at this store. The owner boasts that he can beat Gamestops trade in values however is only able to provide you the same deal or worse. In my case I traded a 120 GB PS3 with approximately 10-15 games along with 3 controllers for only a copy of Destiny and Forza 5 for the Xbox One. However, later I decided to do some research and found that both these games together only cost $80 at Gamestop at the time and that my system and games combined would have yielded me a $120 credit at Gamestop leaving me with $40 extra credit if I had done the trade at Gamestop. Feeling discontent with the trade and being that this is a local business I thought that the owner might sympathize with the situation and consider a renegotiation, so I returned to the store with the two games later that day. Since we had already performed the transaction I understood that the owner was in his every right to deny a renegotiation of the trade and was prepared for this scenario. However I was not prepared for the owner to take my discontent with the trade personally, lose his temper in the middle of the store, and then yell at me to leave the store. I found the experience to be quite unpleasant and rude. Perhaps The Revolution should consider canceling a few of their bland tournaments in place of some anger management sessions for their ill-tempered owner. In other words, just go to Gamestop where they at least rip you off on your trade ins with kindness.

The Revolution is an absolute paradise for any gamer. Ive been going here since the first week it opened and have personally seen how this place has grown and its incredible what can happen in such a short time. You walk in to this place and immediately feel the sense of community, even from people you dont know. Everyone there has a common passion for video games that you can hear in the way they talk and laugh, and no one is left out because of their commitment to bringing gamers together. The tournaments are structured to guarantee that everyone gets a lot of playtime, so even players who are still learning can compete, get better, and be part of the community. As for the people complaining about pricing, Ive seen how much care is put into restoring the old consoles and games as well as selecting hardware that meets the quality standards of the Revolution and will last, so all things considered I think the prices are more than fair. You can walk out knowing your purchase is guaranteed to work and has been thoroughly tested. The owner is extremely knowledgeable, and if you ask is always glad to be transparent about his practices. He founded this place so that people can experience the full rich history of gaming from the beginning up till now, not just whats put in front of us as the latest and greatest.

Mike is man I respect almost as much as my own father. He built this arcade from the ground up. Mike is a friendly reasonable guy who will keep it real. The customer is not always right and he stands for that. I respect that man because he cares about his customers. As for the other employees. they are like older brothers to me and they treat me like that so I treat them the same. The hospitality given to me by them makes me feel at home. Ive been going to the revolution for about 2 years now. just about every Saturday for tournaments. so if you complain about the game prices, find some other place that has them (have fun with that). simple. I chose the revolution because theres never a dull moment, the price is right, and if you need a place to clear your head....you know where to go and if you ever go there....read the article on the first pillar when you walk in..... -Nicholas Alexander Ramos October 20, 2014

This place completely renewed my faith in local business. The staff is incredible - knowledgeable to the point of being almost-robotic in their ability to systematically deliver answers to the most specific questions imaginable. Theyre so passionate about what they do, and theyre incredibly polite and friendly. I went in for the first time Friday night (11/25) and came back immediately Saturday, and met the manager, and he was just as pleasant and accommodating as the staff from the night before. They have just about anything you could be looking for - no matter how obscure or specific, and their prices are amazing. Both nights I was given a handshake from everyone who worked there as I was leaving - and within those two trips they earned my business for life. Revolution is a half-hour drive from me, but Im not going anywhere else again. That would be absurd.

Retro games, great atmosphere, friendly employees and great customer service. I dont know what more i could ask for from a video game store. I brought my destroyed Super Nintendo Entertainment System in for repairs and I could not believe my eyes when i saw my SNES, it looked brand new. they even cleaned the electrical contacts between the game and the SNES motherboard, so now my games work first time every time. This place is amazing, the employees are so kind they treat you like a human rather than walking credit cards. on top of all this the store is riddled with games from wall to wall youll be taken aback if you were at all into games in the 80s and 90s. I will definitely be returning here for all of my gaming needs and purchases.
