Grocery = 0 stars / Lunch = 5 star Grocery: Ive been doing my grocery shopping here for a while simply for convenience - its the closest to my apt. Definitely a little pricey but thats not what makes shopping here so unpleasant. They usually dont have simple things like cans of black beans, the smell of the seafood section is so off-putting (and is slowly permeating the rest of the store - clean it up, seriously!!) and their employees are so unfriendly. The guy at the butcher and seafood counters (yes only one for both which makes for long waits) is super unfriendly. The cashiers are the slowest people ever and have clearly never received training as they put your delicate items on the bottom of the bags and your heavy items on top. Theyre also unfriendly and couldnt care less about their job - they pause ringing you up to chat with each other or on their phones. Zeytuna really needs a new manager.... The downstairs area for lunch on the weekdays is such a different story. Awesome salad bar and lots of other choices including pizza, sandwiches, soups, sushi, tacos etc. Lots of good heathy options. Cashiers are super quick so the long lines go really fast. Highly recommend for lunch!

Roach in my food!!!! Friday, May 13th I was having lunch with my coworker. I had the Tilapia, sweet mashed potatoes and steamed mixed veggies. Surprisingly the mash and veggies were cold but I was too hungry to go back to the counter. Although cold if was tasty as I got to the bottom of the mash I saw something brown at first I thought it was seasoning but then I realized there was nothing else brown on my plate I turned it over and saw the legs. Ive been a loyal customer for four years. I privately told the manager and he said where did this come from? I said it came from here he said I know but oh my goodness this has never happened before we are working on it?????? Well if it never happened before what exactly are you working on. I will no longer dine at this facility. Yes we got our money back.

It seems like there are goood food days and bad food days at this place. I work near Zeytuna and have a chance to eat there a lot. Twice i bought tuna fish there, once it had a small roach in it, the second time it tasted very very old. Yuk!! Once i bought a few pieces of salmon at their salad bar. It was very very salty and old. I had to chew it over and over again. They do have great coffee, i agree with some other reviewers, but it does not take much to prepare cooffee. I woud rather them clean up their salad bar act. About a year ago they had former employees marching in front of their market with nasty posters how Zeytunas food is old, and that they have roaches ( which i learned was true), and so on. To good for the store either. I would limit my visits to Zeytuna. Thanks.

Zeytunas is an upscale, mediterranean grocery store with possibly the most creatively designed downstairs market and seating area in New York. The colorful mosaic tree at the entrance way to the market, looks like it belongs in Park Guell in Barcelona, with its Gaudi-esque features. It feels fun to go to eat lunch there. The seating ares is large, however the seating sections change...near the soup section, its Japanese themed, with paper lanterns, then it changes again to turquoise tiled tables with old-fashioned stained glass hanging overhead, and then again to a retro-diner theme with red leather booths and black and white checkered floor...it makes you want to stay there to eat your sushi or salad just to enjoy the scenery.

Zeytuna is a food mecca for this neighborhood. They have everything you could possibly want, as long as you have $$ to spare. Salads, pizza, sandwiches, desserts, salad bar, soup, everything! Make sure you come before 2:30p as its basically a dead zone afterwards. I took SO here and we spent over $30+ for lunch. Hot food plate and a drink each. He nor I were expecting this price point, but were happy to say the food was delicious. Cant say much about their market upstairs, but have tasted cookies purchased by coworkers (yum!). Ive heard you do need to be careful with expiration dates though, as baked goods are known to stay out past their shelf date. Listed in: Yelp 100 v2013

I bought a carton of half & half on September 10. The expiration date was October 17. I put the carton in the fridge within 15 minutes of purchasing it. By September 14, it was spoiled rotten. I went back and asked for an exchange. "Sorry, no refunds or exchanges without a receipt." Apparently, Zeytunas management is too smart to fall for my sinister plot of defrauding them out of $2.99 by buying spoiled half & half from another supermarket and exchanging for a fresh one at Zeytuna. For such a high-end expensive supermarket, youd think their customer service was at least slightly above gutter-level.

So much stuff to find for any occasion here! I have met a friend for lunch in the downstairs area and had some very delicious food. I also really like to stop by here on the way to work to pick up snacks and other things for during the day! I love the selection of pastries and prepared salads. The staff I have interacted with are friendly and always helpful when I need help finding something specific. Dont be intimidated by the lines around the noon hour - it goes really fast and you should be able to easily find a seat in the large dining area!

I like the decor - very unique and fanciful. The upstairs is a full supermarket, including deli, fishmonger, packaged goods, pre-made foods, etc. The downstairs is the true multi-strat eatery with brick oven pizza, sushi, kebabs, by-the-pound (~$8/lb) salad bar, and separate nook for udon/ramen/soondubu/bibimbap. I tried the salad bar. I got mostly the cold food items. Everything was all good, but nothing really special that sticks out. Plenty of seating, but around 12:15 it starts filling up fast - which I guess is a good sign.

Man working in the deli every day wipes/scratches his nose with gloves on multiple times when preparing or cutting food. I am finding it disturbing. Today, he gave me the wrong ham! Double check your order but be patient as he scratches his nose again. I love it because it is convenient and I get fresh fruit from there. But this one aspect is SO disappointing. And when they cut the meat they did not wipe off the cutter enough so my ham had seasoning from God knows what. It tasted bad even after I wiped it off.

Prices are more expensive as whole foods. Store is impossibly small and you cant even navigate the aisles. I was shopping using a reusable grocery bag which Ive done there at least 3 or 4 times before, and an employee followed me around...then at the register I got accused of stealing for using my bag. Havent been back since. All the cashiers are extremely rude and seem to talk about you in Spanish to each other. Seriously, just save your money and sanity and go to Jubilee or CVS.

Great for fresh prepared food, exotic candy, and weird specialties like olive oil soap. Hopeless as a grocery store. If your shopping list has more than three items, theyll be sold out of at least one and youll have to go somewhere else. They routinely run out of such obscure items as tomato sauce, baking soda and paper towels. But you can choose from a wide selection of things like Turkish garlic taffy, artisanal toothpaste and wildly expensive boutique ice cream.
