Ive always had my eye on Doughnut Plant. Every time I walk on 23rd Street, I always pass it but have never had the urge to actually stop by and check it out. However, one of these days, I had just finished up my workout at the gym, and what better way to top it off than a doughnut? Doughnut Plant itself isnt a big spot, but they do sure have a loyal following. When I stopped by, 8pm on Sunday, it was pretty dead. That was quite pleasing because of the fact that this place is usually pretty hectic during the mornings. Unfortunately, the downside of coming late is that the popular doughnuts are sold out. That was alright with me because I just wanted a Blueberry Yeast Doughnut. Choice-wise, they have some serious flavors here. Broken down to either a yeast or cake doughnut, you can go with flavors such as: Creme Brulee, Tres Leches, and Blueberry. At $3 per doughnut, you really have to want these, because its 3x the price of a regular doughnut at the corner deli. Ive had some crazy premium doughnuts before back in the West Coast at places like Psycho Donuts. I must say though, Doughnut Plant is pretty legit. First, the yeast doughnuts are soft and fluffy. Biting into them is effortless and theyre pleasantly chewy as well. My blueberry doughnut was a little tangy, and I could definitely taste that fruit flavor. On top of that, I also got the Creme Brule doughseed. This guy comes filled with sweet goodness. This thing is epic. On top, you get that amazing creme brule crunchy glaze! Definitely an amazingly pleasant surprise. Next time, I really have to go early and try out some of the other flavors because these 2 doughnuts blew me away. The staff here is nice, the shop itself is clean, and the doughnuts are amazingly tasty. Sure theyre $3 each, but youre also in New York. Plus, you get what you pay for!

Doughnuts (a.k.a. donuts) can be average comfort food but in the right hands it can be transformed into creative pieces of art. Doughnut Plant. For 20 years, the doughnut plant team has been cranking out sweet doughnuts. On entering their Chelsea location, there was not much of a line. We arrived at a small lull during a busy weekend day. The doughnuts are in a little jewelry box style that you can see what you will be ordering. There are a few types ; special doughnuts, yeast doughnuts, filled square donuts, cake doughnuts, doughseeds and etc. The types are relatively self-explanatory. The doughseed are a small doughnut filled with different crèmes. The classic favorite is crème brulee and the new special donut is the pokeseed filled pecha berry. Now, pecha berry is a pokemon special theme crème which exists in the pokemon universe. For ordering these little sweets, it was difficult only because I wanted to order everything. We got a crème brulee ($3.80), pokeseed with pecha berry ($2.95), wild blueberry cake ($3.65) , peanut butter & blackberry jam ($4.00), peanut butter banana cream ($4.00) and White Out Cake ($3.85). We paired the doughnuts with Blackberry Lemonade ($4.00) We only had the crème brulee in the store and took the rest home. I would say that the doughnuts are pricey but you are paying for quality not quantity at Doughnut Plant. I hope to come back soon or to their other locations.

Ahhhh.... The Donut Plant! This is one of my favorite spots & too among my frequent haunts , I highly recommend these establishments. Like always Ill review with my personal PROS and CONS. CONS: - This place can become VERY crowded (at all open hours) - The Price of a Donut can be quite pricey. - Can Be fairly hard to get a Seat -The plant can Sometime come of pompus being (certain crowds get treated like they dont belong there) for EX. nerds/geeks, Lower income, imigrants - If Your not not fond of the Melinial Hipster (young who pretend to be hipsters) may not be a place you like. -somewhat hard to locate when scaffolding is up. - NOT friendly to people with PEANUT ALLERGY PROS: - Their amazing array of Donuts , Pastries & Coffee - The Coffee (according to my girlfriend) is Literally one of the single best Cups shes had in her life. - Never will your oder be cold or Cooling (weather dependent) due to the way they sent out orders. - Very clean and stress free environment - Even When closed the Plant has A wonderous Smell that it emits - The staff is quite Friendly although Busy - Customers are fun to talk to (you can get insite on the other flavors you havnt tried) This is a great place , one of my few reccomendations.

Well, these are certainly the most delicious donuts Ive ever had. They are delicious dollops of doughy decadence. Fresh ingredients and small batches make these irresistible guilty pleasures addictive and worth the price tag. My personal favorite might be the carrot cake donut. I feel that its worth noting that they have 3 different types of donuts: cake, filled and regular style donut. All are epic in their own right and I have yet to find a donut I didnt like. You have a mini sensual journey of taste as each donut reveals its several levels of flavors on your tongue. For those moments, while youre decoding the sweet and fruity flavors, are pure baked bliss. The 23rd st location is a lot more convenient that the Grand st location and has a much more polished and cosmopolitan feel. The line looks a little daunting but it moves fast - and that little wait makes you all the more hungry doesnt it? Youll need that time to decide which donuts youre getting if its one of your first few times there. DEFINITELY come earlier - the closer it gets to closing time, the more likely that the daily specials and favorites like crème brûlée will be sold out. As far as donuts go, I cant recommend Doughnut Plant enough.

At this location, they have the ordering counter to the right, and seating area to the left. The space more long and narrow, but it had good amount of seating. Since it was my first time at the Doughnut Plant, I wasnt quite sure what I wanted to order. Thankfully, they had all the doughnut they were offering right at the ordering counter on a display! Really helpful to know what they look like before you order. We bought Crème Brûlée doughnut to eat at the shop, since it the kind thats best when eaten fresh. I also heard that it is their most popular doughnut, and guess what else? The worlds first Crème Brûlée doughnut was invented by Doughnut Plant! We also bought 5 more to take home with, and every single one of them were pretty tasty! They are not cheap, especially for the size of most of them, but you are paying for the high quality and creativity of the doughnuts. Staffs were friendly and helpful. I would be going back for more yummy doughnuts for sure. Read my full review of the store and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

Gawd! Theres just something about that creme brulee doughnut that I still dream about now being back in Toronto. *brbcryinmafaceoff* When I came here, the music was ridiculously awesome that you couldnt help but to sing along or dance to the music while lining up. Everyone was doing it. Felt like I was in some uncoordinated flash mob dance just voguing and doing some knee-bending action to save myself of fomo. True story. I also caught glimpses of the staff enjoying the tunes just as hard and they were truly friendly and genuinely helpful when deciding on flavours. It also helped that the doughnut-designed pillows on the wall added to its chicness factor, especially for great selfie shots and aesthetic snobs. Would definitely come back and raid their creme brulee batch for the day and probs try their matcha green tea latte! Issa date. Scaffolding itw tho which is kernda lerrrm. Anyway, just fyi in case you may find it hard to locate underneath all that metal if this be your first time going. Gotchu fam.
