My opinion of the Hawthorne store changed today because of one person. Ed Ruiz. He is what an associate should be and what I believe was what began the Home Depot and DIY companies, a place to come in, ask questions, get help and find the materials you needed. Mr. Ruiz is a smart, kind and professional gentleman who knows the merchandise where to find it and how to treat customers. Mr. Ruiz did not just assume because I am a woman I didnt know what I was looking for, much less how to use the tool. He immediately began to look for what I needed, pouring over the bins of tools. After a while, I was just about to stop him, I appreciated his effort but it was becoming obvious the search was futile. Then he looked up and smiled with the tool I needed in his hand. It was a great experience to be able to walk in - get REAL help - and be on my way to tackle what was important, the job I needed the tool to complete. Mr. Ruiz should be the mentor/instructor for every HD stores. I sincerely hope he is recognized and honored for his work and service. HD is indeed lucky to have him. I just hope they know it.

If you think that customer service is bad in the store try the phones! If you wait long enough you might get someone to answer. If so, consider your lucky. To get an answer on the phone would be a miracle, not that I would know as it has yet to happen. Someone does eventually answer but then get put on hold again or disconnected. Seems they just have phones to aggravate potential customers. This has happened more then once to me and in conversation with a neighbor it happens to others. Great prices mean limited customer service but I know they can do better at this store. I think I know where items are located better then many sales people. This level of support is not as bad in other Home Depots and I have been to many Home Depots. How about answering the phone and taking the customers phone number, getting an answer in a few minutes and calling them back....it just might work if they tried it instead of suggesting call back later and getting a dose of anther frustrating interaction! . By the way, I never add comments, but it does feel good to state how I feel!

Hardly have good experiences in this store. The people at the customer service desk are great, unfortunately I wind up there all too often. Today I was picking up an order that was bought and paid for. Of the 2 toilets I was picking up, one of them was clearly opened before. Upon opening it and checking it, I noticed the bolt packages were opened and pieces were missing. This type of thing happens all the time but it never should. Waited over fifteen Minutes for Robert from the department to come assist us. He was paged three times. When he finally showed up he said, "what do you need Im in the middle of something". The lady from customer service explained the situation to which he replied, "go help yourself" and he walked away. Wow. Thanks Robert. You should be fired. Sadly this behavior is all too common at home depot. Its usually a split of nice, kind, and helpful people and rude, unhelpful useless people. Robert is a useless person. Time to make the switch to Lowes.

I am building a house in Florida and the architect down there was useless. I went to the Home Depot in Hawthorne and its the best thing I ever did! I needed to get a plan of the kitchen I wanted and I was lucky enough to get Charlie Beier. He had the best ideas and took the time to show me different ways I could configure the space for optimal use. He even fixed other parts of the house plan that I wasnt happy with that the architect couldnt seem to do. I live in the Bronx and believe me it is well worth the trip to have someone so knowledgeable and helpful! I cant praise this man enough! This is the 2nd kitchen that Ive had designed with Home Depot and I would definately recommend Charlie Beier to anyone that needs any home design done! 10 stars! I have been going to this Home Depot since it opened and I have NEVER had a bad experience! Everyone is always helpful and friendly- even walking with you to other parts of the store to show you where something you want is located.

Shockingly-bad service. I called three times to get a price for a size 00 Phillips-head screwdriver. Was disconnected twice before someone finally took my call with the intention of answering my question. Employee first demanded a sku number, and was annoyed that I didnt have one. I asked if he was able to go to the aisle with screwdrivers and tell me what was on the shelf. (rocket science, apparently.) Upon reaching the section, he told me, "I have a screwdriver here for 99 cents." I asked if it was a Phillips-head 00 and he told me repeatedly that he didnt understand the question. I explained once again that 00 is a size. After some more confusion he found a set of screwdrivers that included the size 00. The set is $11.99, if anyone wants to know and visit this location. I am going to go to Lowes instead.

This has been my 3rd trip to this store, even though I am far closer to the one in Yonkers, and frankly, its been great experiences all 3 times: the customer to personnel ratio has always been 10 times better than any other Home Depots I have gone to. Staff is extremely courteous and knowledgeable-if they dont know something, they will get someone who does (wait time...usually under 3 minutes); they have had everything I have needed (1st trip: curtains/ rods. shelving and hardware; 2nd trip-plumbing supplies for a clogged sink; 3rd trip-material for a deer fence, including hardware, netting and lots of advice which matched my research on the web). I am puzzled by other reviews...that is why I waited until my 3rd trip to write something. Lots of parking as well.

This is the worst Home Depot in the county. Inventory is frequently haphazardly on the floor. I am always at the threat of being run over by empty fork lifts. Staff is not knowledgeable. Someone in the tile department told me I could use whatever notch size I liked to install 12x12 wall tile. I have to youtube that one when I get home. Inventory on shelves is missing or damaged. I once had a whole pile of from pieces fall on me because it was precariously leaning on an open shelf. But the best was when the aisles were so blocked by boxes, and staff that a customer plowed into me and stabbed me with a piece of crown moulding. Avoid this store. Go to New Rochelle or Danbury Ct

Came to purchase a wifi thermostat and was told by the plumbing dept...what you see on display is what you get, even though the website told me the store had 31 items of the specific thermostat i was looking for. The website told me the location of the thermostat and another sales person, (not from plumbing, helped me out). She was great till the end and she deserves the 5 stars. Went back to the store the next day to see if i left my debt card and i was told that the person in the office is going on meal....so shop around and wait. Really?! I just wanted to know if i left my debt card. I shop here all the time and Im sent all over the store just to buy one item.
