Someone recommended Home and Hearth to me so I went with them but I cant recommend them after my long, unpleasant and drawn out experience. They are mostly interested in SELL, SELL, SELL. No customer service whatsoever. Once they have your money you are on your own! I wanted a wood burning chimney insert and to make sure it was done before the cold weather came I ordered and paid for the product in the middle of August. From then on it was like a comedy of errors. The young man who ordered the insert didnt bother to measure or make sure what he was selling me was the right size for my house. After waiting a month I called them to see what the problem was. I was told the item was sitting in their warehouse and had been there for a while. Once I was told it was in they never bothered to schedule delivery-even here I had to call them twice to finally have it brought to my house. I took a day off to have the insert installed but I wasted a day because it was the wrong size (the guy who sold it to me offered to knock out a few bricks in the fireplace to squeeze it in but I declined because it probably wouldnt pass inspection--they wanted $300 to knockout the bricks!). Wasted day two. I had to take more time off to go to the store to order a new smaller insert which cost $500 more than the previous larger one. I then had to take another afternoon off to receive the delivery. When the installers returned a few weeks later (now mid OCT and another morning off from work) they discovered they were missing a few parts and couldnt finish the installation (it seems they didnt check before beginning the job). I had to wait another week for the part to come in and I had to take off another morning to have the job finally finished. The most disturbing part was my conversation with the owner. Ed, the owner, was pretty matter of fact in his indifference to me. I told him how annoyed and frustrated I was and he told me he was sorry and said hed have the installation done soon. When I told him that time was money and having to take off 5 mornings or afternoons was unacceptable he said "I know. Time is money for us too". Pretty amazing since the errors were all on his part. He offered nothing for the inconvenience and trouble--no discount nothing. Not only would I not recommend Home and Hearth Id never buy anything from them again. They were and are very unprofessional. Avoid them.

We purchased a Harman wood pellet stove from Home & Hearth and just had them install it. From the beginning of this transaction H&H didnt give a hoot about us, but they sure did take our money quick enough. Ill try to be brief. I check other retailers closer to us, but after doing extensive research I really wanted a Harman stove. H&H was the only one that had them. (Actually, afterward I found a retailer in Connecticut that sold Harman.) We went to H&H and looked around for about 20 minutes while 3 employees chatted with each other. I had to excuse myself and asked if one of them would help me. I later learned that Mike, who assisted us, co-owns H&H. I had to apply for a permit to install the stove. I learned that H&H had not filed the annual insurance paper with the Town Clerk. To expedite the process, I assist by giving them the fax number to the Town Bldg. Dept. One H&H employee told me hed fax the insurance papers over. The next day the Bldg Dept did not receive the fax. I called H&H and spoke to Mike (the co-owner). He told me the Bldg Dept does not accept faxed so I needed to pick up the paperwork. So, the next day, a Saturday morning, we went to H&H. Mike now said he didnt have the documents and didnt know where they were. They tried to call the secretary, who was off that day, but she didnt call back. So Mike said hed fax it on Monday. (Didnt he tell me that the Bldg Dept didnt accept faxes?) After installation of the stove, I realized two important pieces were missing. I called H&H and, after blaming Harman for the missing pieces, I had to go back to H&H to put up what was missing. Didnt I pay heavily for delivery and installation? So why am I picking up and installing parts myself? Home and Hearth simply does not care about the customer. They do have a great selection, but let buyer beware. My recommendation is to go elsewhere. Horrible service at H&H. If my stove ever needs repair. Im obligated to call H&H due to the warranty. I shudder at that idea.

Very Mom & Pop! I recently had custom made glass doors and screen installed in two fireplaces (nearly $6G). One of the screen doors has come off (it happens). However, in phoning about the issue, there is neither a sense of urgency, or even ownership to say, "oh, sorry that has happened; well have to correct that quickly" Rather, they can never seem to get out of their own way--instead I got "oh no, we wont be able to get there until the middle of next week." Whats more, they didnt even look at the calendar to make specific the date they could come! Its left wide open, for phone tag, and revisiting the conversation that they had in hand when they picked up the phone. Poor client relations management; weak sense of urgency pertaining to their own work; poor ownership. It is noteworthy that their laborers are very focused, committed, and do good work (despite the faulty screen); ironically, the installers excel at customer service; but the management is not worth the work it takes to get commitment. (Note, the repetition of reviews on the pellet stove [Harmon] are advertisements; consider all the service reviews as a trend.)

I called John and had a service appointment to fix my gas fireplace. Lets just say its still not fixed. I called back multiple times and sent an email and still havent received a response. I feel compelled to inform anyone who is even thinking of purchasing from this place to STAY AWAY! First off id like to say this place is EXPENSIVE. A place being as expensive as it is you would expect exceptional customer service. This place doesnt even have that. When I called a few times, a woman answered the phone and she was the only nice person in there. Every other time I called an older gentleman with a very mean aggressive attitude answered and I felt that I was "bothering" him. I just want this fireplace fixed so I never have to deal with this incompetent ignorant arrogant idiots anymore. All they want is MONEY MONEY MONEY. I hope the owner sees this because he needs to change this business before it goes under. All they need is competition with competitive pricing, a nice showroom and great customer service and this place is GONE. STAY AWAY! Take a ride up to Ashleighs in Poughkeepsie. It is by far worth the ride, time and gas.

We purchased our Pellet Stove from Home and Hearth in 2007... Ed, John, Joe and Cindy have always been very helpful with our needs. We also purchase the pellets from them...and...the stove is serviced and cleaned by Home and Hearth as well. When we went to the town to get the permit..the inspector asked who was doing the install..I told them Home and Hearth... the inspector stated that Home and Hearth are a quality business, have been doing this fora long time... and that they will do a great job. Thunder Snow 23. January 2012 Earlier this year, my husbands co-worker asked us for information about our pellet stove and asked where we purchased it. We told him Home and Hearth. After shopping around and getting a lot of BS, he came back to Home and Hearth for the purchase, install, and pellets. The co-worker was so impressed, he told two other people about his purchase.
