I am giving this Home Depot 1 star! the starmeter is not working! I sent the following letter to the CEO, the Regional manager and the VP of Customer Service and External Affairs last year. Not ONE of them responded to my letter. I guess this is why the customer service sucks...leadership doesnt care. For my torment, read on: Although my husband and I have bought our washer and dryer and several other appliances from your establishment, my husband used your stores to renovate his clinic in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and we are Home Depot credit card holders, we have been on an “I Hate Home Depot” stint for a while. This is because over the past 5 years, we’ve both noticed that the customer service has gone down considerably. At any given day at any store in Manhattan or Brooklyn, I’ll go in and will most certainly have employees look me in the face realize I probably need help and run in the opposite direction so as not to have to assist me. However I broke down Saturday, May 3, 2009 when our designer couldn’t find the lighting she wanted at Lowes and insisted I go to Home Depot (she hates the Home Depot experience, too). Reluctantly, after calling and getting confirmation that you carried some Malibu Black low voltage floodlights in your Bed Stuy store, I relented and went there for an emergency run. We are having a photo shoot for a Moroccan garden we’re having installed in our Brooklyn home, and needed the lights for the area being designed. When I walked into your Brooklyn store, sure enough, several of the employees wearing orange aprons looked at me as if I had leprosy and ran in the opposite direction. I looked down at my hands to make sure I didn’t have anything resembling the plague, and forged ahead, determined to find what I needed. I finally found someone who looked like they were working. A woman by the name of Mariam, who works in lighting, was on a ladder and dug through dozens of boxes for me for about 15 minutes. She even tried looking at several other items to see if those would work for our landscaping project. After several valiant yet unfruitful attempts, she suggested I ask someone around the corner to help me pull stock from another place. I walked around the corner and ran into yet another hard-working employee named Janine, but she worked in Flooring. She was with a client and asked another associate named Kwesi if he would be able to assist me by checking stock in another area. I will tell you honestly that I could not believe his reaction. He looked at me, looked at Janine, and did an about-face and walked away from us both in the opposite direction without saying a word. We both stood gap-mouthed. I told her that was one of the reasons my husband and I and many of our homeowner friends now avoid Home Depot at all cost. In any case, Janie finished with her client, came around the corner to where Mariam was and together, they found the lights in back stock! I was SO overjoyed that I would be able to get the lights installed in time for our magazine shoot. Another employee, Mohammed, who had a long line of people waiting to ask him questions (so at least you have 3 employees there who DO work) helped me with general questions about bulbs, and he was very helpful and because of him, I’ll buy several more of the lights for our other projects. As a person who works in client care I know the importance of client satisfaction. I hope you will give proper and due kudos to the employees who were SO VERY helpful and went above what anyone else was willing to do, and also, give proper counsel to the other employees who treat the customers like enemies, including “Kwesi”. I can’t believe that in this economy, Home Depot can afford to allow people unwilling to assist customers to spend their money in your store.

You really have to just laugh. have to preface this by saying Im like a kid in a candy store at home improvement stores, so my review will be coloured through that lens. but make no mistake, this is a tacky and consistently underwhelming home depot. Ill give you an example: last week (Jan 30, 2015) I had visited the home depot to pick up an order Id placed online and made available for in store pick up. needed a sheet of pine cut in addition, all and all was meant to be a 10 min trip. I arrive and NO one can find the lumber associate, as in ever, as in, he decided work was over at 9:40. in the meanwhile Im at the customer service desk waiting behind a woman inefficiently funneling her order via telephone through the customer help associate. When the funneling was through, Im led on a wild goose chase through the narrows of the cust help associates computer trying to locate my order, only to be told it was found, but could not be opened. no explanation, no promise of an answer, just the impending 10pm get out of our store close. I asked her to cancel the order and refund my money, she assured me she would, lo and behold 2 days later home depot is asking me to come to the store and pick up my order which was meant to be canceled. We never did find that lumber associate. made that long and hurried trek to home depot for not. PS: went to the Fort Hamilton store (Jan 30th) which closes at midnight following Nostrand Ave store fiasco, and got everything on my list PLUS 20% off for the rubbish service at the Nostrand Avenue store. Saved 30 dollars. Fort Hamilton Home Depot = WONDERFUL!! BedStuy Home Depot = Laughable/Pathetic

The store is well stocked and always has what I need, but the staff is really useless! Last time I went to the store trying to get help and not one person had enough knowledge in their area to answer even the most basic questions. They caused more issues than help! The staff never seems to be around. When they are, they seem annoyed to have to help. One time a staff member even hid when I came to ask for help. Another time I was trying to find help in one section, but again couldnt find anyone. I had them paged by some other staff member and no one showed up so I was directed to the manager. I spoke with the manager whom gave me attitude, tried to make it my fault and said that I should look for the people that worked the section. I told the manager I didnt see anyone and found out the reason was because the staff member wasnt wearing a uniform. My last time I was there I spent well over an hour trying to get the correct help. Honestly I was bounced around to perhaps at least seven different people just to get a basic wiring question answered. The paged three different staff members and not one showed up! I have never left a review about anything online ever, nor do I ever rant or complain, EVER, but the staff at this store needs to realize that they are there to help and that the are doing a HORRIBLE job. They should be grateful for the fact that they are employed because there are tons of people that are need of work that would be happy to provide a better service! And honestly I could say so much more, but I decided to hold back some.
