I had the utmost disrespectful and unpleasant experience I have ever had at a tattoo shop, it started by a pleasant mid 20s man who gave me and my friend somewhat consideration and then when he went to go get the artist MOLLY ! It went downhill form there so at first my friend wanted a rose and a goat on the top of his hands done, and then she immediately told him no I wont do that, you dont have full sleeves why would I tattoo your hands, WITHOUT EVEN ROLLING HIS SLEEVES UP !! He had long sleeves on as well as I did and the combination of the both of us we have 20+ tattoos so for her to tell us what we can and cant get on our body is the utmost of disrespect. And after that my friend said okay well this is what I want on the top of my arm and it was a picture of a gothic style building and she again immediately told him absolutely not and that there would be no tattoo artist that would take that job and after that he felt instantly insulted and as was I. After the hostile attitude she showed twods us I was hesitant to even ask to get my tattoos but as she was walking away she turned around and asked if I wanted anything and I had relied yes I did have intentions of getting two small ones. I had wanted my dirt bike number on my hand on the inside of my left had from about inbetween the inside of my wrist to before th start of my thumb and then a Rosery wrapped around my wrist and she had again in a hostile tone replied "no, I wont tattoo your hands either" so either her lack of talent and her piss poor attitude was enough to drive is out of this hell hole we immediately took out great sums of money and went elsewhere because no amount of money is worth being talked down on in the tattoo community and having to deal with MOLLYS poor attitude so Im sorry for all the fellow artists who work there but my friend who has received all of his 10 tattoos from hand of doom will no loner be going to the shop. And as for someone who has never been but herd very good things about the stop, I will rate this place 1 star and not recommend anyone to go here, and will stick fatheful to the wonderful plsent attitudes and warm inviting soles of HYPERION TATTOO and recommend anyone to go there for welcomed walk ins and present and friendly people. I highly dont recommend the bitter and hostile attitude of MOLLY at hand of doom tattoo

To be honest, Im shocked that there are any poor reviews on here. I have gone to three different artists at HOD, and every bit of the work Ive gotten is amazing. Josh is an incredible and original artist. He has worked with me on several large pieces and they all turned out amazing. I also have work from Chris. His style is totally unique and he creates beautiful work. Several of my friends have work from Jon, and I must say that calling him a master is not an overstatement. He is an incredible artist. The third guy I used to go to here, Dan, moved. He was also amazing, so Im sad he had to go. I do hope to eventually get more work from him at his new shop in New York City. Every one of them is a nice, trustworthy guy and a great artist. Even the desk help is friendly and professional every time. They really work hard to make their patrons comfortable and confident. Im about to have a baby, but Ive had 9 months to stew over what I want next, and I cant wait to get back in the chair with these guys. You might pay a bit more than at some of the other shops around Elmwood villiage, but for artwork that will stay with you for life, take that as a good sign. With tattoos, you usually get what you pay for and these guys are so skilled they can afford to turn away someone who isnt serious about getting a fantastic tattoo.

I had been disappointed at two other area shops while shopping for the place to get my first tattoo. I immediately felt welcome coming into H.O.D. They were warm and friendly and understanding that I was nervous and a little picky about design. The guy at the desk made me my appointment and introduced me to the artist that would be working on me the next day. He was SO nice and didnt have any of the biker or haughty "Im an artist" feel to him. Just a regular guy. (My artists name was Josh.) They didnt mind that I hung around a while and looked in all their books. The next day, I brought him my design, he sketched it, and we got to work! He was professional but not overly invasive or chatty; sort of let me call the shots. He did a WONDERFUL job and the most amazing thing is that theres barely been any flaking, scarring, and it doesnt itch AT ALL. They must use excellent ink and methods. I HIGHLY recommend Hand of Doom!!! You should know that the artists there have a unique "style"...more cartoony instead of photorealistic, with wide outlines and vibrant colors. I brought my own design and he duplicated it well, but look through their books if you want a custom design. (He even modified mine a little afterwards when I made a suggestion.)

Where do I even start? You walk in and are immediately welcomed with a smile and all attention is on you. I went in for my first tattoo ever, Im 18, and they loved the idea. Everyone I interacted with was helpful and understanding, and my artist, Kyle Sajban, was having a good time telling me about his years in tattooing and keeping up good conversation with me even during my wincing (it was my first time just keeping it real). But above the spectacular service I was provided during my visit; my tattoo. I went in with just a sharpie drawing of what I wanted, a design I had found and made my own with only a slight bit of bolding. Just a simple black and white line piece. When I tell you I could not be any more satisfied with this beautiful piece of art, Im being serious. Thank you so much to Kyle, Josh, and everyone else at Hand of Doom Tattoo for an awesome experience and a wicked, permanent, awesome tattoo!

I am rather experienced in the tattoo department and was avidly going to another shop- but lets just say they were getting to be a drag even trying to get in with 3 months. Anyways- Jon Mirro, the owner took me for my appointment within a few days, sat me down, had a consult, drew on the table than on my skin and said, you ready? That is service. He was so detail oriented, unique, creative, had great energy and made me very comfy. It was pleasant to also get tattood the same day and not come back to have (another shop) loose your art and/or appt! The only tiny thing is that you cant just call to get in. You have to in and make a deposit... and the guy on the phone was a little stiff about it.
