Great place, service here was amazing. Went in to discuss a tattoo and to get my nose re-pierced after having to take the last one out years back. Talked to a gentleman about my tattoo and got some information on it. Even had him suggest a second opinion to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. Then once that was done got my nose pierced. Seth who did my piercing was great. Talked me through everything. Even helped with picking a piercing that didnt shock the boss whos been used to "clean cut librarian" me. He helped me pick the small starter piercing I got just to break my nose in plus pick the next one that will be permanent for once the boss settles in to me being pierced and tattooed. Cant say enough great things about the process. Seth talked me through everything, explained every step of the way. He stopped after every bit to explain what he was doing and show me everything. The piercing was very quick, as painless as one can hope for and much better than my first one in some dingy place in Camden in London. All in all I suggest going here to anyone looking for piercings or tattoos.

Got a nostril piercing done in 2014. Awesome and professional experience - everyone I spoke with was very welcoming and friendly. They took time to talk about the piercing procedure as well as show me lots of options in terms of jewelry. The guy who did my actual piercing was awesome. Ive had my nose pierced in the past and he recommended changing the nostril piercing just a bit, moving it higher up along my nose so that it would be better placed with the shape I have. The fact that he took time to actually look at the shape of MY nose on MY face and work out the best location from there is just stupendous - it really speaks highly to the level of professionalism. Every tool he used on me was in a sterile packaging, and the room was very private. Even though I was only getting a facial piercing done, it again spoke to the level of professionalism and respect they have for their clients. I was given great cleaning instructions and told to come back in a few months to have the stud resized. Everything from the check-in to the piercing itself to the aftercare - all five stars.

I absolutely loved my experience at Dogstar. I went to get my nipples pierced and Shea was my piercer. My friend came with me and got her conch pierced. She originally wanted to get her industrial but Shea explained to her that her ear structure wasnt ideal for the industrial to look right, and showed her a few piercings that would look better on her. He was very informative, and definitely knew what he was talking about. I follow his work on instagram so I knew that he did a great job, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well he did ! He talked me through my piercings the entire time, told me step by step what he was doing, and made myself and my friend feel very comfortable. The piercings all came out great and I definitely recommend Shea to anybody who wants to get pierced :) My friend didnt originally want to drive the entire way to Durham from Sanford, but as we were leaving afterwards she told me that she was very glad we had driven further because he did such a good job and knew exactly what he was doing. Dogstar is amazing !!!

I dont often feel the need to take the time to write a review, but Ive got to say, Shea is awesome. My friend and I went in about a half-hour before closing time and found most of the staff outside. I told the front desk I was in for a piercing, and he went outside to fetch Shea. A couple of minutes later, Shea was inside and more than happy to provide advice, help, and a thorough, non-condescending explanation of the piercing, possibilities, jewelry, and procedure. After we got into the piercing room, he continued with excellent demeanor and continued to explain exactly what would happen, what was happening, and what to expect during healing. Piercing was quick, easy, and fluid, and despite keeping him past closing time, I never once felt rushed out the door. Even my friend commented that he would recommend Shea to anyone, and he wasnt even being pierced! I would happily point anyone in his direction for a piercing.

First off this is the first review I have ever written. I went to Dogstar because my normal tattoo artist was unable to schedule me for a week and I had the tattoo itch in a bad way. I called to see when they would have an opening and was scheduled for later in the day. About 30 minutes later the owner called me back and said they had a cancellation and to come on in. The caliber of people milling around outside may sway people away from this parlor but I was greeted with nothing but professionalism. My artist was Al (Alen Lott) and he was great! I needed minor fixes to my own design and I could not be happier with his work. A friend and myself both got tattooed that day and he agreed with me after when i said that it was the best tattoo experience I had had. That was 4 months ago and the tattoo looks amazing. THANK YOU SO MUCH AL!!

Look Ive had 5 tattoos before getting to the beautiful state of NC! I read a couple bad reviews which look like just some bad, drunken, stupid nights someone had....honestly go for yourself. DO NOT JUDGE BASED ON RETARDED STUPIDITY! I got my tattoo here of a complicated fellow that I asked them to draw for me.....they did an amazing job and the artist was incredible!!!! They are clean, they show you the needle theyre going to use and are very professional.....I LOVE THIS SHOP...Ive been all over in NYC, Cali, Fla, and this is my fav shop thus far...GET USED TO IT...THEY ARE AMAZING ARTISTS!!!! so stop being a baby just cuz they dont talk to you thru the tattoo....just ask a question if your curious....theyre not ur baby sitter!!! LOL.... I LOVE THIS PLACE AND WILL GO BACK AGAIN SOON!!! AMAZING ARTISTS!!!

Came in to check the new place out since i used to come here years ago when it was on 9th. Its a pity that the new shop is so nice, it seems that every time i have been in here the staff is different and often the new ones are worse than before. The last time I went in the counter girl/piercer was a joke and made out that she was doing a favor by even acknowledging my presence. The guy there now at the new place is a bit sketchy and he made me uncomfortable. The quality of artists has definitely decreased in the last few years, especially since they moved but Zeus has a decent portfolio worth checking out. Curious why so few artists want to stay. The new place is a bit hard to find even if parking is way better but I still wouldnt want to leave my car in that neighborhood at night.

I have gone to Dogstar for a couple of years now. Three piercings and a tattoo and they never fail me. Seth has done all my piercings and has always taken great care of me. I have my belly button, my nose, and my industrial cartilage pierced. My industrial bar is perfectly placed and both that and my nose are healing very well. Seth is very knowledgeable, has 20+ years of experience, and always makes sure the customer is comfortable and relaxed. He has always taken great care of me so I highly recommend going to see Seth for anyone looking to get pierced, especially first timers. He is a very calm person which is much appreciated.
