I love how well kept Brooklyn Fare is. I must agree some the the employees are a bit short on customer courtesy, smiling and walking customers to the items. Walking customers is very important to me because I shop in there to find ingredients I can add to a dish. Sometimes I have no idea what I am looking for but the name of the ingredient. I find myself not buying the item or going somewhere else for the (new item ingredient to me) because I get "I am busy or its down there". That means Brooklyn Fare lost a sale. Besides that, fruits and vegetables are always fresh, smells good in there, the butchers are always professional and smiling, and prices are great to me. cashiers and sales floor employees need to step up. UPDATE: SO THANKSGIVING DAY JUST PASSED. I MUST SAY EVERY EMPLOYEE WAS CHEERFUL. I ASKED 5 DIFFERENT WORKERS FOR HELP, THE FIRST TWO POINTED TO MY ITEMS BUT THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND SAID "LET ME WALK YOU" WOW. THANKS. I AM NOT SURE IF MY REVIEW WAS READ BUT I AM GLAD THAT CHANGE HAPPENED. BROOKLYN FARE IS NOW MY FAVORITE GO TO GROGERY STORE FOR MOST OF MY ITEMS.

Impressive website but it promises more than it delivers. The prices are upscale although the entire selection is not. But my biggest gripe is the attitude of the employees. For the prices they charge, I do not need to be responded to with a grunt - by the manager, no less - when I ask for someone to slice 1/2 lb off a 3lb cheese block and I do not feel a simple "Please" and "Thank you" are too much to ask for at the registers. They need to put as much effort into simple customer courtesy as they do into their website. Until then, it stumbles - actually falls flat on its face - far short of a 5 star rating. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Feb 3, 2012. UPDATE: I happened to drop by Westside Market on 14th St and 7th Ave in Manhattan. I think Westside is what Brooklyn Fare would like to be compared to but Westside has a better selection, better quality, kinder, gentler staff, and prices which, while not cheap, represent a good value. I think Brooklyn Fare management should spend a couple of days there some afternoon.

I have my share of foods that I truly enjoy purchasing from Brooklyn Fare, a place filled with warmth friendly staff. I am always greeted with a smile on entrance and before I could grab hold of my shopping basket all of my favs peeps, are alerted, "trouble is here" so happy they know me to the Tee, often times Ive made personal recommendations to stock items that other fellow customers will also enjoy and within days its added to the stores inventory. I travel quite the distance to treat myself to the deliciousness on every corner, shelves are always neatly stocked, produced are fresh, and items are always discounted. I will remain a patron for years just continue stocking all my goodies.

Convenient. They picked a great location for this store. Theres no nearby competition. If you want a wide variety of groceries and organic products in near Fulton Street, this is where youre going to go. Yes, theres Millennium Market near Metrotech, but their selection is limited and I feel that their produce doesnt stay fresh as long as other places. Both stores have an impressive selection of beer. Millennium Market does sell individual beers, and Im not sure if Brooklyn Fare does too. Also, Brooklyn Fare offers a loyalty card. Ive been shopping there steadily for a few months and havent reaped any savings or rewards with it yet. I find that a bit odd.

This grocery has a wide selection of fine foods, staples sold in bulk and useful household items. Youll likely be able to find that fancier brand of food or shampoo or beer that you like but also the inexpensive versions sold at bodegas. They also have one of the best deli and prepared foods section in the area - the breakfast and lunch deals are crazy. The prices a higher here which youll notice right when you walk in but they have a decent loyalty rewards system.

They have the best coffee in Downtown Brooklyn and some excellent selections for produce and cheeses. My issue with Brooklyn Fare is that their quality has definitely gone down since opening, especially in the prepared foods sections. You can tell that they are trying to squeeze as many pennies out of every dish they can, such as the quality of the bacon on the breakfast sandwiches to selling only obviously heavy items at their salad bar.

Im rating the store, not the restaurant. When it comes to the groceries, while the prices can be a bit high I feel like certain sections are worth it. I have been impressed across the board with the meat and seafood I get from their butcher, with reasonable prices to boot. Nice craft beer selection, interesting fruits and veggies. Mostly worth it to go here for special items, not your sugar, flour, etc.

Good selection of healthy, organic, nutritious foods, but icredibly expensive, and $13/lb food made me sick immediately! Workers wear shirts that say they know the store inside and out, but when I asked where the PB was (because isles are poorly labled), one contemplated it, then sent me to the wine isle. Cashier was unfriendly, and a deli man called me sweetheart. I do NOT appreciate that from men.

Great grocery store with probably one of the best chocolate croissant you can find for a decent price (<$3). They have an on-site bakery which makes really good pastries and French baguette. For the rest, good selection and they carry some European products not found in other stores, but some items are really overpriced.

A nice grocery store with good organic and international food. Its another business that in true NY style packs a lot into a little (space). Also you have to navigate a maze ( like Fairway in Red Hook). I love their coffee, and produce. Prices are typical ( a little high) but they have sales. Checkout is usually quick.

There are a lot of great restaurants in Brooklyn but Brooklyn Fare is at another level. After each dish, youre eagerly anticipating what the next surprise will be, wondering if the parade of delights can sustain itself. Great restaurant and service, but dont be late b/c they dont wait for anybody.

I am disappointed that you are selling old cake and cheesecake with mold ! If I lived closer I would have given it to you because it is to throw away! I hope that from cheesecake I will not fall apart - because too late I noticed mold! Shame that old things you sell !!!

This is an upgraded supermarket, probably closer to Fairway or Westside Market. Unfortunately, the draw of those two places is their large selection of prepared foods, while here there is not nearly that kind of variety or options. A great place for frozen items though.

I love this grocery store. The beautiful woman that manages this place is flawless and her staff could not be more genuine, friendly and helpful. Great fruit and vegetable selection, fantastic beer selection, never a long line, and super convenient.

Have been going here for 5 years and have got to know the staff very well. They remember my name and always ready to recommend new produce. I wouldnt go anywhere else! Its like family here with fantastic food selections and service. Top shelf!

Very expensive and do not buy produce here! I caught an employee removing "bad" strawberries (with his bare hands) out of plastic containers and replacing them with more desirable looking strawberries. I cant believe they think that is ok.
