Unfortunately this place has been getting worse. Its supposed to be a neighborhood boutique quality food store. But too often Ive discovered that the products I purchased where gone bad. From the most recent spoiled purchases where fruits, vegetables, jello, sushi. The most unfortunate part is quality of customer service. Besides 2 people, you wont ever hear "Hello", "have a good day", "thank you" or "let me help you". In fact me nor people I asked about it, dont even get a Hello or thank you back at cashier. The tall dark skin guy who runs around the store is beyond rude and unfortunate discriminatory openly and nobody seems to care. Not sure if he is a manager but he sure acts like it when disrespecting customers. It really saddens me to write negative review for this place, but in a nowadays competitive market its shocking that this doesnt get fixed. Especially considering the expensive prices. Now the reason Im leaving 3 stars instead of 1 is because there are three good workers there (out of everyone) and their kitchen food is delicious including all hot meals, soups, packaged meals and sushi (besides three seperate instances of spoiled avocados, tuna and rice, mentioned above) I truly hope that someone who works there and cares about Westside Markets future reads this, and place will get better. I heard it was nice, quality and friendly back in the day.

Cashiers do not listen, managers show no sympathy, staff unenthusiastic, prices *VERY* high. I very clearly and politely requested that my items be split between two cards. The cashier verbally acknowledged that this was possible, then proceeded to charge the entire bill to one card. There was no offer of recourse. The manager in the lane next to hers confirmed "yes it is possible to split between two cards but because she already processed a card, I cannot do it." Yes, frustrating manager lady, you can. There were only 10 items. You refund the items, reprocess, and split the bill between two cards. This is symptomatic of the entire store. The staff are inattentive, lack communication skills, and, quite frankly appear to be stoned out of there ******* minds. TO THE OWNERS AND MANAGERS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT: Train your cashiers to listen. Train your managers to show respect. Train them to at least offer an apology when they make a mistake. The uncaring, unsympathetic attitude is a strong contributing factor for the single star. A simple "I sincerely apologize, this will not happen again" would have gone a long way. If my mother, dying of pancreatic cancer with three months to live, did not love the lemon bars they have here, I would never shop here again. Oh, and they were out of the lemon bars.

The prices arent the best you can find, but there is a pretty good (albeit densely packed) selection and its a convenient stop on my way home from work. More specifically: they have Pink Ladies apples and vanilla beans, which arent always the easiest to find. They also stock our favorite: blueberry pomegranate juice. However, the pricing isnt always honest (weve seen them mark up small packs of chicken to make the family packs look like a better deal, when that was actually the original price). Further, being short I have difficulty reaching items on the higher shelves, which they stack to the ceiling to make the best use of their space. Its still a pretty classy store overall, and they run enough registers that the waits havent been too bad even at peak times.

I frequent this store in the morning to pick up breakfast on my way to work. One of the chia pudding cups I purchased had gone sour, but I didnt realize it until I was at work. I went back to the store the next day with my receipt and explained what happened to the manager. I asked if I could get another chia pudding cup as a replacement and he was very rude. He said because I didnt bring the pudding back he couldnt confirm that I wasnt lying and refused to accommodate my complaint. Am I supposed to carry around a rancid item to confirm Im not trying to steal a $6 pudding cup? Im very disappointed in their customer service and will not be returning if I cant trust the product to be fresh or the company to help me when the product is not.

I moved into the building above Westside Market and at first was very excited since I love to cook. However, it took less than 3 months for me to decide to never go back there again. Not only is it outrageously expensive, the people are rude and most importantly, nothing is fresh. They say thier prepared foods are prepared fresh when Ive seen them bring in large frozen generic boxes of prepared items. Thier dips and such are outdated. You can sometimes pull back the stickers to see the original dates of when it was prepared. And above all, please stay away from thier fish. The only saving grace is the cheese shop but quite frankly, with so many great options nearby, I just cant see going back there.

Produce can be good-- but look carefully, they will keep old and sometimes even moldy produce out, especially lemons. I have also bought unusable frozen brussel sprouts. Stale popcorn was may last purchase. I only buy here if everything else in the neighborhood is closed. Once I tried to return half a cantaloupe that had been cut and packed in plastic at the store. When I got home and unwrapped it, I found the skin side was moldy. I brought it back and the manager told me that I should have looked more carefully before buying it. Ultimately he gave me my money back but it took more time and effort than it should have.

Cheese! This place has one of the most impressive cheese collections, options, whatever you want to call it, they have plenty. Whats best is that they happen to be very reasonably priced. The location is large but they have placed a high amount of aisles and sections in the place, good for variety, bad for ease of navigating. It requires patience and some acrobatic skills to move around especially during rush hour but that is a trade I would make any day. There is deli and a generous beer selection as well. Some of the things are more expensive than elsewhere (dairy and fruit) so dont go there for that, go for the Cheese!

This market sells great foods, cheeses, fruits and vegetable, and prepared food (except with rare exceptions), but the staff are very inconsistent. Orders must be repeated again and again to get them to understand, and we recently had to call 3 times to find anyone who could competently take a catering order, and then did so gruffly. It is remarkable how bad their customer service can be at times, and its a shame when their products are excellent. Well, they finally came through by delivering the catering order intact, on-time, and cheerfully.

High priced, but good quality produce and prepared foods. Fish market is also decent, though the poultry/meat section is terrible. The place is a maze despite being small, and until you get to know your way around you might find yourself entering on 14th street and exiting on 7th avenue near 15th. Theyve got weird security guys who just stare at you (or at least me) and ask if you need help even if Im focused and directed. This happens to me every time I shop here.

I love Westside market, but I was not happy to hear the cashier talking on the phone with her manager. She mentioned that she has been working for 9 hours and no break. This is sickening how they treat workers. This is serious and my cause medical problem. All I want them to do at least to send their cashiers to breaks after 4 hours. We do not want unhappy at the registers. I hope they change as soon as possible cause that is insane
