first of all- the photo listed is NOT what the inside of this store looks like. Ive lived in this neighborhood for 4 years. I have a cat and the only thing I will buy are litter filters if I am in desperate need. Normally I would love to support local and be willing to pay the overhead prices, but the owner of the store is a scam-artist and incredibly rude. The only reason he has been in business for so long is because some relationships with locals and there is no larger pet store in the area. They used to have puppies- which I assume had to go because they were not licensed to sell. Now they specialize in birds. On several occasions I have brought to their attention sick looking birds. My current experience that causes me to review this awful establishment is they have a Macaw- which they have had for a month, who appears to be at LEAST 5 years old but they claim the person they got her from says she is 2. Her beak is not in great condition and she is missing a claw. I personally bought a toy for her and asked them to put it in her cage because she looked extremely unhappy. They were honest about the fact that she bites and came from an abused home. When I asked how much they really had the nerve to suggest $1200! This is the cost of a 1-2 year old Macaw in better health and that is TRAINED. You cannot even handle this bird and they were also open that she is a biter. I offered to pay $800 CASH to rescue her. I expressed that I have owned birds in the past and am knowledgable in their upkeep and commitment. The owner was a complete jerk about my offer and very rude. His son, who is the only saving grace of this institution because he is actually friendly and understands customer service seemed uncomfortable. I stayed with the bird for an hour, trying to bond- fed her grapes that had fallen to the bottom of her cage because they did not cut them for her (they do not eat the skin and they are too slippery so they fall) and I played with her and the toy. The sons owner was very impressed that she did not try to bite me, but instead was licking with her tongue affectionately. As much as I would love this bird, I would do anything to find an organization to assist in purchasing and rehoming her to a RESPONSIBLE bird owner. My advice is DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. And DO NOT BUY THIS BIRD unless you know the lifelong personal, emotional and financial commitment it takes to own a Macaw- which clearly they do not. $800 CASH was an EXTREMELY reasonable offer for this Macaw, especially since I am purchasing her with the intention of giving her a good home. The owner of this business is clearly interested in money and not the quality and care of animals and exotic pets.

Absolutely terrible customer service & not helpful in any way, shape or form. Called about the availability + price of a specific brand of dog food and the response was a very rude and dry "we dont give prices over the phone" and then the man who picked up hung up. Wanted to shop here due to the good reviews Ive read about customer service and ended up greatly disappointed. Luckily 3 of my aunts shop here and I was able to find out the price. They always buy the 24lb blue buffalo wilderness bags of dog food every couple weeks for their pitbulls. They supposedly give them this deal where they buy 10 bags and they get the 11th free... except they charge you $70.84 for each bag. I let them know and now this business has lost not one but 4 customers. I like to support small, local businesses, but this just completely turned me off from ever shopping at this particular location. This is what makes people shop at places like petco, petsmart or online. If youre ever looking for good priced dog food and good customer service, you may as well resort to these chain stores. petco, chewy and amazon sell these 24lb BB wilderness dry dog food bags $55 with tax + free delivery. #SOLD

You know I hate to see someone give bad reviews on a business that is well-established especially when there are two sides to every story. I was there two days ago just to check out the store itself after reading bad reviews. I went with my wife and kids and I got to tell you this is our new store to shop. honest as a family felt nothing but love from the owner and the workers that are there. The prices for the particular items we need it were very fair compared to the big businesses. I mustve feels very offended by the bad reviews when this store has nothing but greatness. Im actually on my way to buy an aligator gar. This place is definitely my new place to shop and will Refer to this place to friends and family

This place is HORRIBLE. The store owner was rude and ignore my questions (by walking away) and then to top it off they sold me a kitten with SERIOUS ear mites that have yet to go away 2 treatment options and months later. The kitten also suffers from severe wool suckling which I am told is because she was taken from her mother too soon. PLEASE do not support this petshop in selling these sick babies that were taken too soon. You will end up with a sick pet with both physical and mental health issues.

The best pet shop with amazing service. 5 years ago my mother and I bought a female poodle, a cream colored little thing, a year later a black and white male who loves to prance. They were so happy and healthy, unlike other pet shops where the animals have a depressed glow. We went by very recently to see their customer service had not changed, they were still attentive as ever. The prices are fair and for the space, they keep it very neat. I recommend them as well.

The owner is really rude, I asked him a simple question and he almost escalate it into an argument in matter of seconds for no reason. Kind of like "are you here to buy or ask questions?" Then he turned his back and walk away . I had no idea what when wrong. Really a bad experience. But this is the only store in the area. If you live around there you are stuck.

I dont know about these guys selling infected fish, but these gentlemen have always served me and my tanks well! Not to mention the amount of knowledge you walk away with. Its obvious to anyone that walks, that youre surrounded by knowledgeable, caring individuals. The owner is always trying to give the best deals possible.

Best pet store in the Bronx. They have a great selection of supplies and accessories for everything, from cats and dogs to lizards and fish. Ben, the store owner with over 20 years of experience, is very helpful and knowledgeable about all types of pets and the great staff reflects that as well. Highly recommended!

I love this pet store. Its very clean. And all the animals look great. They all look healthy and active.The owner and staff are very polite and respectful. I felt welcomed and right at home as soon as i arrived. They have a huge selection of pet supplies. And a very nice selection of diifferent kinds of animals.
