I have been going to this store since I can remember, 18+ years. It is the only pet store in the area where the staff are knowledgable about the animals they sell, knowing exactly the best diets for them as well as what size they will grow to (I have had an employee at another local pet store tell me that oscar fish which grow to be 12+ inches stay at their baby size of 4 inches if kept in a ten gallon tank. This is of course not true). Be aware that while they have a great selection of animal supplies, for any pet you can imagine, if you want to buy an animal from them they will be ethical. They take care of their animals very seriously there and will not sell to people who will not be able to care for the animal properly and do not wish to learn how. Such as if you want a chinchilla or ferret they will ask what cage you have set up, and if it is not an appropriate cage for such an animal they may ask you to reconsider or get a different cage. they will then show you what cage would be good, what food is best etc. Again knowledgable, friendly and ethical staff. What more could an animal lover want?

Reading these reviews I feel like I must be missing something...I walk around with a permanent smile when communicating with sales staff anywhere...Ive lived here 3 years and not one time have I left CC without saying to myself how miserable everyone that works there must be. I stand around waiting for assistance or have to interrupt conversation to get fish or other help and most of the time the employees are aloof or have an attitude...its your job..do it and do it well without the sourpuss tude. The last few times, the person whos gone in with me has made the same comments and even got annoyed when trying to ask about a price because the *manager* had mislabeled the product and acted as if he should have just known it was wrong...what?? So it was our fault for assuming the labled price was right. I started going here for the food bonus because I purchase multi bags a month and they also have the aquarium supplies I use but after my trip last week I actually threw my CC card away and will make the trip to tractor supply for dog food and Amazon for aquatic needs. Both are cheaper anyway. Oh well.

Horrendous Customer Service! Asked to speak to the owner concerning a customer service matter I was not pleased with. Store Mgr reported he was out of town, but would have him call. He called me the next day, panting, ready to do battle before the conversation even began. Stated he was 5 feet away from the initial discussion I had with the store mgr, (so much for being out of town, so that was a lie). I could tell my conversation with him was going to go no where, so offered to end the conversation right then, but he stated: he wanted to know what the problem was, when I began to relay that as a CUSTOMER, I felt that I was not treated in way that I felt I should have been, hoping we could have a mature, man to man discussion, he was not interested in the slightest to what I had to say. Instead his reply was: "Go back to WalMart!". I urge everyone to go elsewhere where your business is sincerely appreciated. BTW, bought the same item at Tractor Supply in Vestal for 20% less than at CC. Sad, where has the commitment to customer service gone in this Country?

After having adopted a stray kitten I found, I was determined to give this kitty everything good in life. I went to Petco (by the mall), Petsmart (by Target), and Pet Depot (by Walmart), but none of them had the grain and by-product free foods I sought. I noticed Creature Comforts while I was in the area and decided to give it a shot. Not only did they carry the brands I was looking for (Wellness, Canidae/Felidae, Innova), but they had a wide variety of other natural pet foods with an array of different flavors and sizes to choose from. There is a plethora of pet supplies suited for all types of animals. They also have a shoppers card which entitles you to a free bag of pet food after buying like 6 bags of the same brand and size. I found the staff to be helpful in providing advice and opinions and they were very, very friendly. Will definitely be a regular customer here! Also, there were separate displays for male and female rodents when I went. Perhaps theyve fixed this problem that an earlier reviewer mentioned?

Best Petshop in the Area. This is my go-to pet store if i have the time to get out to it. The selection of foods, aquarium supplies and terrarium supplies is great. The frequent buyer program has been a main reason why i return again and again. When i get a free flat of cat food cans... thats 40$ saved. The staff is almost overzealous in helping you. I inquired about an uncommon item... the manager was in earshot and he immediately ordered 3 of the item. I do not buy live animals from pet shops, but this place has the best selection for supplies. their reptile/terrarium supplies are among the most varied and best in the area.

I called for a simple question about food for my chinchillas. I noticed the only difference between chinchilla food and rabbit food besides price is banana and raisin... which I give my critters daily as a treat anyway. He lost his professional tone and started berating me because the two things are allegedly "ENTIRELY DIFFERENT INGREDIENT PANELS" ... No, theyre not. Either the man was pushing the chinchilla food for the effectively $25 markup per bag or he is just illiterate. Or both.

The selection of fish, birds and reptiles is definitely the best in the area. However, most products are extremely overpriced compared to other pet stores in the area. The employees are usually polite and knowledgeable. I love looking at the fish but there are usually injured/dying fish in the tanks with other fish in the tank biting at them. They keep fish in the same tank together that really should not live together too. And the fact that they sell dyed/tattooed fish is upsetting.

While they have a large selection of animals, they dont take the best care of their rodents. Firstly, they keep males and females inside the same area together so you might come home with more than you expected. Secondly, while they might be handled more, they arent as healthy looking as other selections from different pet stores. The staff general doesnt know too much about rats either, with the exception on how to tell a male apart from a female...which is rather hard to miss.

Every time I have bought fish here they have ick. I bought a hermanns tortoise here for my mother. Was sold to me as healthy. He died about a month later. She took care of him exactly as directed. There was something wrong with him from the start. Hardly moved, and was very tiny. Temps were tight. Humidity right. Food right. Correct lighting. Nice store. But pass on the animals. I should have gone to a reputable breeder.

This is a seriously great pet store. Its small and privately owned, so dont expect Pet Smart, but their animals are clearly better cared for and happier than any big store (and there is a surprising collection). Id rather source a pet from here than anywhere else in Binghamton. And of course, the staff are wonderful, helpful, and very knowledgeable.
