I am contemplating on what to say and how to say it because I am writing this review while very angry and disgusted with this place. Where should I first start off, my boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday at first to look at one specific car. I asked for ROMEO because that is whom I spoke with on the phone so I only though it would be fair to let him close the sale. Well, after looking at the 2007 Jeep Compass, we decided NO! First the car didn’t turn on (which is understandable, being that it just snowed, it’s been very cold, and I’m sure they can’t turn on every car everyday), nonetheless after getting the car to turn on, it was making this weird and loud noise from the engine and / or motor, and the Engine Light was ON! Obviously after seeing that it was a NO GO! Plus, no wonder it was being sold ‘as is’. Next we then saw a 2010 Jeep Compass which we happen to like as well, it turned on fine, sounded smooth and overall seemed like the “it car”. Only thing that kept rattling our brain was for a 2010 it had 97 and something thousand miles on it but to be honest we felt that we can deal with that! After all is said and done and we were able to bring it down to the price we felt comfortable with. ROMEO then told us we had to just give a deposit of $500 payment down as a ‘hold’ so that they won’t sell the car to anyone else! Well this is where it gets good, after repeatedly asking him, is the $500 refundable, what if we don’t like, agree or can’t afford the financing options, or even the car itself after test driving it, what then happens? Can we get our money back? HE THEN TOLD US …. We would only get $425 back because $75 is not refundable because it covers the fee charged to ‘check our credit’. After all, we didn’t have all the paperwork to continue with the financing process so we agreed to come back on Monday, before leaving though we asked once again if we were able to give it a test drive and ROMEO sort of brushed it off and said on Monday! Not to mention when looking at the car, turning it on, looking under the hood we asked him if we could test drive it. …… WELL after going there again today to finish the deal, before closing it my boyfriend again asked to test drive it, they only allowed him to test drive in circles in the parking lot!!! Right there we felt a little uncomfortable, here’s a car we’re looking to purchase and we can’t test drive it, that sounds a little funny to me. Well of course after he circled it a couple times, he checked under the hood and it had a bad oil smell, and smoky, not only that but the car ate his CD! Needless to say we didn’t feel comfortable getting the car that was only coming with a 30 day warranty, that only covered the engine and power plates and could possibly have issues we weren’t aware of. ROMEO then tells us our $500 is NOT refundable BUT that is not what he told us on Saturday after I specifically asked him several times is our money refundable! They told us we had one of two options, take the car or choose another one. BUT do they really think we want to continue working with them after all this nonsense. He then got his manager and they just fed us a bunch of BS! Moral of the story is , DON’T GO TO NJ STATE AUTO AUCTIONS IN JC ON SIPP AVE, DON’T SIGN ANYTHING, DON’T PUT ANY MONEY DOWN for a “hold”, ROMEO WAS A LIAR, THEIR THEIVES, and CONNS! I am very upset and disgusted by them.

It took me a while to write this review. I wanted to be completely fair. My sales guy was Tony. He was amazing. He was very professional, honest and patient. He wasnt pushy, aggressive or anything. I really enjoyed that part. However, my car. As I drove home I noticed that my car began making sounds when I turned corners and when I got home I could barely turn the steering wheel. Also, the same night as I drove to Advanced Auto Parts to buy steering wheel fluid, the check engine light came on. When I brought the car back to them, they said it needed a catalytic converter. To fix both of these problems it cost me an extra $1000. The mechanic, who is excellent by the way, said that they would absorb half of the costs, even though they didnt have to since I bought the car as-is. For this I was grateful, because the bill could have been $2000. I also noticed within a day of driving it that the transmission bucks when it goes into second or third gear. Blessedly we got a 3 month car warranty and the warranty covers it. Overall, I was disappointed. I enjoyed the experience, however the PRODUCT was horrible. The car has so far cost $8000. Also, something I didnt expect was that the fees would add up to so much. They have an auction fee which is $500, a registration fee of $200, and taxes which is 7% of the car. After everything a $5700 car ended up costing $7000 with the warranty. Then with the additional work the total is $8000. If they had been more upfront I would have pushed for a better car. I paid for this car cash, my only recourse after finding out that the car had so many problems would have been to cancel the cashiers check and that doesnt always work. It was a very sucky situation. I like the people that work there, but you cannot beat integrity. People will actually buy cars with problems, just because they really like the car. However, you must give people the choice. With that being said the only person I blame is myself. My advice is to follow your gut, watch out for red flags(there were several, that I ignored), and READ THE CARFAX.

New Jersey State Auto Auction is now my new place to go to for a car. I had such a hard time the last time I purchased a car that I had to get corp involved and it was a big mess and honestly I was scared of having to go thru the same thing somewhere else. I googled some locations and NJSAA came up with the 4+ star rating and their was a couple hundred of them so I said to myself I have to check this place out because it seems their doing something right and Im glad I did. My sales rep Jimmy was awesome. He was very nice and down to earth and made sure that I was content from the moment I walked in until I left with the keys in my hand. I gave him my budget and the very first car he showed me was exactly what I wanted. It was perfect. I wasnt getting a brand new car but I left with the next best thing and I am happy with my purchase. The car had normal wear and tear scratches on it and I asked Jimmy if he could try to do something about that and when I saw the car after they were done detailing it, it was like a brand new car. The scratches were gone. I was super elated. I had an issue with the insurance company because they kept putting the wrong date on the temp insurance and Jimmy seeing that I was getting frustrated took over and after like the 4th attempt, the insurance co finally got it right and I was able to leave with the car. He didnt have to do any of that and he did. He made the whole experience completely stress free for me and he really went out of his way. Hes a great sales rep and doesnt try and con you or just say things you want to hear. He actually gets the job done and makes sure that the customer is happy with their purchase. Other dealers can learn a thing or two from NJSAA. I will recommend Jimmy and Alex to all of my friends and family as they really did a great job by me and now I know why they have such great reviews, its not just hype. Its really a great place. I highly recommend them and thanks guys, Christina.
