I went to masterpiece to try & get a custom tattoo. I saw Dan who appeared to be the proprietor. I showed him a picture I found on the internernet that was as close as I could find to what I wanted, to give him something to go on. I tried explaining further what I was looking for and he said, "have you gone on our website and seen my worK?" I said yes. He replied "dont worry about it, itll look real" BTW $175.00 deposit was paid. I shouldve known and gone with my gut. Dont take my word for it, look at his portfolio. Some of the work is good but do you see anything that sets him apart from anyone else? With his inflated ego apparently he does! after I told him I didnt like the sketches we went back & forth a little and I said Im concerned by looking at this very crude outline that this is going to be what I wanted. He said "its just an outline that I work off of, not the final tattoo" I said I understand that but Im not an artist and I cant envision this being anything like I was trying to convey to you by the looks of the sketch. He went on again about it being a rough outline and it wasnt the final product, I said well if you put that on my arm I want it to look realistic. He said, well I dont know if I want to do it now because you want be happy with anything I give you. So I said where does that leave us with the deposit. He told me it was for the time he put into it. at that point I was pissed and said $175.00 for that?!? it looks like a kid drew it!!! end of conversation.... I may take him to small claims just so he knows he cant do this type of crap to people! If I could give less than one star I would!

Horrible experience! I went into the parlor today to get a tattoo done. When entering I talked to a man who has previously done my piercings with questions about pricing on a new tattoo. He refered me to a rude older women at the desk. I had the tattoo on my phone and the lady was so annoyed that I didnt have it printed. I asked her if I could email it so she can print the picture or show it to someone who could draw it ( its a small swahili symbol size of my THUMB that was to go on the back of my neck). She rudly said her printer didnt have ink (its a tattoo parlor, where photos are printed and traced on many times!!) she then looked at the picture on my phone for half a second and said it will be 125$, For a symbol the size of my THUMB! ( with this rediculous pricing, one would think customer service would be great, and thier printer would be running with ink) She decided to justify her pricing by saying that the Chinese symbols on the wall (almost the same size) are $60 and since the tattoo placing is on the back of my neck it will be 80$... So therefore its 125$. Im sorry but I still dont see the logic in any of her pricing and how rude she was. So I left and got my tattoo done at Eds heritage for $60, with GREAT SERVICE! Masterpieces building is clean and located perfectly, but they need to clean up thier staff. They lost a client and Im sure with her, they will lose alot more.

I honestly wouldnt even give them a star. I walked into the shop and was first greeted by a man who was just rude and looked liked he hated life and his job. Nevertheless I said that I wanted a small five word quote for my boyfriend and I. He then looked at me sideways as if I had two flipping heads. I then asked if I could have a piece of paper because my boyfriend and I wanted each others handwriting to be the tattoo itself. $5 a letter and it was located on my boyfriends ribs. $125 total. Seriously? I got a 47 word tattoo that fits my whole side for $250 at Tattoo Fever in Pelham, NH. It took the man about 10 mins to do my boyfriends tattoo. I refused to get mine because of how rude the tattoo artist was. He blatantly made fun of my boyfriend because of being nervous for a tattoo and then made fun of everything else after the tattoo was done. He was rude and did not make the experience of getting matching tattoos a good one. Hence me not getting mine. I will gladly wait 3 weeks to get a beautiful made tattoo at a reasonable price at Tattoo Fever instead of getting a walk-in crap hole experience at this place. Not worth it at all.

I thought that I would try a place outside of Boston, and maybe it would be refreshing- but man, was I wrong. At first sight the place seemed amazing- incredibly clean, organized, classy, private rooms, etc. My design was fairly simple, but custom made and meaningful- black and gray/blending work only. The tattoo work done by Matt started ok- the outline was tight and sharp; but as he went on he seemed bored, grumpy, and started rushing- and in the end the gray/blending work was pretty shoddy. What I thought was going to be an hour and change of tattoo work turned out to be under 45 minutes- and charged me $190! What a jip- I would have gladly paid the $$$$ if it were truly a Masterpiece but dang- I ended up getting a Half-terpiece. I still like the tattoo ok, as the symbol it represents means something to me, but I would feel less like chump-change had my 14th tattoo been as good as the last 13. Guess thats why some of my favorite shops in Boston and Cambridge have been booked solid- and Masterpiece was damn near empty... If youre going to stray from a solid shop like Pino Bros- you had better do your homework!

Let me start off by saying that I was planning on going to Masterpiece, down the street. However, after reading some of their reviews I was a little skeptical that I wouldnt be able to get it done there, because some people said they showed up and the piercers were no longer there. Despite having called ahead, and having driven for over an hour to get there, I walked in and the woman at the front desk asked a guy, who was doing a tattoo, if he would have time to squeeze in a piercing, since he was filling in. Im glad he said no, because I didnt really want someone who is just "filling in" for the regular piercers to pierce my nipples, one of the more sensitive areas of my body. I guess it was a blessing in disguise because that lead my to try Eds Heritage, right down the street, and Im so glad I did! Firstly, they were much more friendly on the phone, and in person. My piercer was super professional and down to earth, making be feel very comfortable exposing my breasts to a complete stranger.

First off I have to say I have over 50 hours worth of tattoos and have been in many shops across the country. This place is a joke! For one they have all their prices listed on the flash on the walls, this angers me, I have never been in a reputable shop that does this. Their prices are also off the wall! Most of the low quality 5x5 tattoos were priced $300-$400 dollars. These tattoos shouldnt take more than an hour or 2. I can see paying this when you have custom work drawn up by the artist but not for some generic flash picture off the wall. I was there on a Saturday night which is usually a busy night at a tattoo shop but there wasnt a single person in there. None of the artists came out of their rooms to greet us or ask what we were interested in. I just did not get a good vibe from this place. Take your money to a better shop, there are plenty within an hour or 2 of this shop. Remember this is permanent, you dont want a place thats just in it for the money to do your tattoo.
