This is the worst customer service anywhere around. Two separate incidents where I was just an ordinary customer and was treated with complete disrespect. The first time I purchased their top model room fan, but after I brought it home I realized it wasnt exactly what I wanted so I took it back the next day to return it. It was still packaged and all together. The returns person eyed me suspiciously and said she, "couldnt accept my return because theres nothing wrong with it". I directed her to the receipt which reads, "return within 30 days for a full refund no questions asked". I had to get a manager who opened the entire package and started grilling me like a murder suspect. Finally got my money back, but walked out furious and embarrassed for no reason. Today I just purchased a bunch of electronics equipment, and 3 separate customer care reps either shrugged at basic questions and walked away (such as, "where can I find item X listed on your website as being available in-store?) and told me to "find someone else". Finally at checkout, the lady kept asking if I really meant to purchase some of the items because they "seemed similar" to her (they arent---cables vs. solder). She took over my "self"-checkout and messed it up 2 times and wasted 10 minutes of my time being slow and asking a million small talk type questions. Not going back.

NOT WORTH IT. Possibly one of the most incompetent group of adults Ive ever encountered. They refer to themselves as managers but have the management skills of a flee. I purchased an order online and they did not have the item in stock. So the order was cancelled and another similar item was substituted. Well when I picked up the other item i was asked to pay again as they insisted the order was cancelled and the original charge would be refunded. WRONG Three weeks later still waiting on a refund for an item I never even laid eyes on. The manager at this store, Terry, is a rude, incompetent, sorry excuse for a manager and did nothing to solve the issue, but rather mock me on the phone and act like a child. DO NOT bother with this store, not worth the headache and HOURS on the phone with home depot customer support.

Brian at service was very rude and aweful .he told one of the couple that he was going to police because they took the cart he was holding for another customer.brian told the couple he was going to call police.very rude and big fat lie .I think he had discrimination issue. He called his manager Dave night manager told couple were threatning him where they were not all .Manager arrived said he havent seen anything happen.not even once he apolozies to couple.what a lousy manager and associate.they both should quit there job if they dont like it.that is why all the survey at this home depot are so negative. Ppl like dave n brian should not be there. I over heard an employee conversation that couple should have reported to upper manager so they go away as employee have issue with them.

Called 28 days after buying a $450 AC unit as it was acting up the night prior (day 27). I live an hr away from the Portsmouth store and am traveling this week for work. Was told the unit/receipt needed to be in the store within 30 days. I explained I cant make it becuase of the distance/traveling but could scan them the receipt. I was told I had to do it within 30 days. I again explained I couldnt physically do this but had called them and could get them the receipt within the 30 days. I explained I could bring it in the store this Sunday. They said they wouldnt do that. This is the first negative review of business I have ever posted. Im furious at the lack the customer service and flat out lack of caring I was shown. In the future I will go out of my way to go to Lowes.

Overall its a Home Depot.....yes, you can hit dud salespeople, but most try to help. I think the turnover is very high, and of course if they paid a little more they might be able to keep people longer? Just a guess. No offense, but this is very often the mindset at these big Corp. Good selection, prices are competitive, but can be a tad higher than the comp. Will price match most of the time. They are close for me, so thats a bonus. Overall, its decent, but I wish they would pay......it would help their customer service/turnover....therefore the knowledge and answers would be more accurate. Very often I go in knowing more than the reps.....probably pretty common. If you get an answer you dont like, it is normally coming from on high......

I am a contractor for 45 years , Home Depot was good in the beginning but has gotten where I will not shop there any more . They are terible to their staff , they quit all the time . prices went up , quality and choices of products went down. Polices are horrible , Assistant managers had there power to think taken away . Manager Nicolas O Lapointe should be fired ,I dont know why he is there he is useless. I buy over $100,000. In stock a year. I have taken my business to Lowes where I am happy.

One employee in the wood department was nice enough to point us to another employee, Frank, who was nothing but derogatory to the extent that we would have gone to the manager if my friend wasnt fuming pissed off and ready to hit him. Heres a tip, if your job sucks and youre a lazy and agressive jack-a, quit. Talking down to two customer that know your job better than you do apparently, are smarter, and are better employed than you, its a good way to get fired

I run a small business in the area and was counting on the chipper we rented to finish a job. The machine was broken and we wasted a day picking it up and driving it to location. I recommend using a local rental company if possible. Much easier to deal with in these situations. The Home Depot employees did nothing to try and help us out.
