Id have to agree with the over-priced and pretentious atmosphere. They have little selection for the attitude they give. I mean, come on....four pairs of road shoes, half above the $250 range. The people at papa wheelies are friendly enough and quite honestly, when you can actually get service, they are knowlegeable. The problem is, when you walk in that store, the only good greeting you get is from the two dogs. I asked about a bike and was seriously in the market for a very expensive tri bike and got sluffed off by one of the guys I always see in there. I had to wait a half hour just for that reaction....I have never had a problem with peak performance or exeter cycles like this before...try either of those first.

One of the best shopping experiences anyone could have! I came up from Long Island looking for a bike shop that actually carries options of quality bikes. I spent several hours looking at bikes, riding them, and asking questions. These guys were so good that I traveled back 2 weeks later just to buy a bike from them. The guys in the shop all ride in a variety of settings so they were able to answer all of my questions. They were extremely patient and made me feel very comfortable. In the end, they helped to find/create the perfect bike for me. The trip up was well worth it! Their selection is excellent, the price was awesome, the service was even better, and the bike is crazy sweet! Thanks guys. Bruce from L.I.

Came from out of town to another lbs "swap meet". When I asked about the used bikes, I was told, "Were trying to focus on our new bikes." So I left and went to Papa Wheelies. Unfortunately, I got there about an hour before it was scheduled to open. A gentlemen asked me outside if he could help me. When I told him what I was looking for, he opened the shop early! I was tickled pink to find a Surly long haul trucker in a small frame size, tried it and loved it. He helped me with all of my questions, did a complete bike fitting right then and there. After that he helped me find some other accessories I needed. Thank you Josh for your awesome service!

Best bike shop in the bigger Boston area. Ive shopped at Papa Wheelies and Backbay Bicycles, and both stores have very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I bought a Cannondale road bike there recently and was going back and forth between two different frame sizes. After trying several, I took the smaller one, rode it at home, and when I realized it was too small, they took it back and exchanged it for a bigger size, no questions asked. They have competitive prices on closeout bikes and a great website, so you can browse the inventory before making the trip. I should have bought my mountainbike there as well. Will do that next time.

I would suggest to those shopping for a nice bike check out a few internet on-line bike sites, and then compare the features and price to this shop. Its your money! When you get a bike on-line it is just a matter of putting on the pedals and tightening a few bolts and you are good to go! I bought a city bike on-line 4 years ago that people still are commenting on, and it was $200 with helmet and free shipping! Unless you race, you dont need to spend a fortune on a bike. And learn to keep it running...bike maintenance is not rocket science. And finally, keep it out of the rain!

Honestly, I dont know why I punish myself with going anywhere else for service. The techs at PWs are clearly the most knowledgeable and skilled in terms of the level of performance they can squeeze out of your bike. Over the years, I have had several problems pointed out to me that were actually caused by incorrect service methods. I will continue to use PWs as my go to for advice and repairs. Their know-how with integrated systems and parts, as well as their eye for detail, put them above the rest.

Awesome group of guys to deal with. They took my Cannondale Rise in and they help me with warranty even though I didnt purchase it from them.. I was so impressed with their service I purchased a Specialized Epic 29er Carbon from them while Cannondale tries to figure out what to do with my warranty.. I highly recommend the shop, The tech people are very knowledgeable and understand bike setup better than any shop Ive been at so far... Anywhere...

Worst bike shop in the seacoast area. I never went there due to bad word of mouth. However, I went there today to buy a $30 part for my bike and was denied service because I wanted to pay with a fifty. They said they have had counterfeit problems. Oh well, I was able to spend it at another store in Portsmouth five minutes later. Basically, dont waste your time, go somewhere else first.

I LIKE to bike shop, and went to all the local shops. These guys seemed very laid back and let me take multiple bikes out for spins without any pressure to buy. And not just a pedal around the parking lot, I went out on the tracks and really got a good feel for the bike. I had a couple of small changes which they did no charge and also gave me free tuneups for the year. Great shop!

The doors on the street are blocked and you go in around back. Its not easily accessible by wheelchair on the inside as there are a few tiers, but its easy enough to pull yourself up if you have the upper body. They replaced by wheelchair tires quick for a fair price.

Great Shop!!! Super knowledgable staff and great mechanics. Great Selection and the best service policy on new bikes. They will take the time to get you fitted, set you up to test ride some bikes and get you rolling.

I found that even after apologizing for my lack of knowledge, I was treated pretty snidely and more like a pain in their behinds than someone they felt like helping out. Im going somewhere else to find what I need...

My wifes SPD cleat lost a screw on our ride. They gave me a replacement for free, and offered to lend me tools for the fix. Nice guys! Glad we broke down near there!

I have been doing business with these guys for three years now. They know what they are doing, are service oriented and have a sense of humor. Need I say more?

Always friendly, helpful and fairly priced. I had a problem with a tire i bought there, not their fault, yet they helped me out financially to buy another one.

Walked in, was asked if I needed help and in about 10 minutes was paying for my new bike, that needed to be built. Friendly and willing to help staff.

Outrageous pricing for parts and repairs and horrendous service, employees were rude and cocky based on multiple occasions. Never going there again.
