The man who helped me get my galaxy s7 edge for Sprint was extremely helpful and kind. His name was Michael and he works in the phone carrier department. I went to the sprint store right across the street and the people there either dont know or just dont care about customer service. The people at sprint told me that I had to call to sprint HQ to order my phone with a two year contract so it would only cost me $300 instead of $700+. I also asked about the gear vr promotion that was going on and they told me it was expired and that it was only for the new galaxy note. I pointed to the sign that clearly said it was for the samsung galaxy s7 edge but he didnt bother to go over there. He just kept insisting that the promotion was not relevant and kept pushing me to call Sprint. I then proceeded to make my way to Best Buy off of S. Virginia St and went to the phone department. I was instantly greated by the gentlmen, Michael, and he provided me with all the info that I inquired about plus some. He told me that because of my phone plan I could get the phone for $300 with a 2 year contract. Which the Sprint store told me I could not do. He then told me that I could get a free gear vr with the purchase of my phone. How could someone who has to be knowledgeable on one phone carrier be less knowledgeable than Michael who has to be knowledgeable on three different phone carriers? Michael, if you are reading this review I came in about a week ago from writing this review with the busted up galaxy s5. I cannot thank you enough for saving me a lot of time and hassle. Also, Im now just waiting for my free gear vr to come in and I cant wait! I know this review is lengthy but the man that helped me out that day deserves every word of it plus some. Also, sorry for not writing it earlier because this review is long overdue! Thanks!

Ive lived all over the West coast over the past few decades. Ive had the pleasure of visiting many fine Best Buy stores (with good service) and the sad sad misfortune going to the Reno Best Buy on Virginia for patronage. If you need to exchange or return anything youre better off driving to Carson City. I went to the Reno branch trying to return a power source for my laptop that quit working after 2 months. *After waiting in a line for 50 minutes (serviced only buy one employee, "James"), when I was finally next, "James" began to service people who were behind me in line.* Needless to say at this point I voiced my complaint to "James" and promptly left for Carson. Heres whats worse: While standing in line, I saw at least two other customers ask to complain to manager "Dennis Huggins" for poor/slow/rude service. When Mr. Huggins came into the customer service area, he apologized to the complaining customers, then left -- instead of jumping on a register and trying to help out "James", who has a very bad attitude. For example, at one point I saw "James" tear off his headset and throw it aside as he mouthed some swear words -- I was a bit offended at the lack of professionalism. Further, I saw the way he was dismissive and flippant with customers who were obviously *not* pleased with the customer "service". Incompetent management ("Dennis Huggins") on top of understaffed and angry customer service ("James") makes for a truly bad experience in a store that, most everywhere else in the surrounding states, is an helpful and productive consumer market for electronics. AVOID THE RENO BRANCH LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Not the store I remember at all. Back in the early 2000s, going to Best Buy was a treat. I used to go there all the time, even just to window shop and day dream. Recently, you cant seem to walk through the store without an employee bothering you every 5 minutes. Their gaming selection is embarrassing, and their focus seems to be mostly on cell phones and home theater. Although, at the same time, their selection still leaves me wanting. Just overall, Ive been lied to on several occasions, even about the inventory within the store. I had, one time, been looking for a cheap portable bluetooth speaker to take hiking. A manager approached me and told me that Best Buy didnt carry any portable bluetooth speakers cheaper than $150. Discouraged my wife and I made our way perusing the store for some video game accessories and found a clearance rack with a portable bluetooth speaker for $15 (original price was $30). So it seems to me that their management is in "pretend mode", where they are not humble or honest with their customers and willing to give a bold face lie to make themselves "feel" smarter. Ive run into this with home theater and computers as well. Asking simple questions have often lead to lies instead of "I dont know", or "let me look that up for you". It has made shopping at Best Buy a less than desirable experience.

I dont know what it is but every best buy experience I have had in the last year or so has gone from bad to worse. This last trip to this location may in fact be the last time I set foot in this store, the reason for this is that it took forever to get an associate to help me get what I wanted (a ssd for my computer) then since I wanted to price match it (it was 10$ cheaper somewhere else) they needed to get a manager to approve the markdown. The manager was only about 30 ft away and was with a customer, so when he was done the associate I was with called him on the hand set and asked him to come help him. As the manager was on his way to the registr he decided to go the other direction to try to help someone who was just browsing through the computers, I was so upset because I had been waiting for so long and they could care less about my time that I just walked out. Just because we are in a store to buy something dose not mean our time is not valuable. I can understand some waiting for something like that but for him to have no respect or regard for his customers time says to me that he is a terrible manager and needs to be replaced.

The worst customer service in Reno. A reasonable selection of stuff with terribly overpriced accessories (HDMI cables for $98??!) And they PUSH their stupid insurance on you, including making misleading statements about what the manufacturers warrantee does not cover - which is fraudulent inducement and should be illegal. I recent bought an LG LED 47" "open box" TV. The label was expressly marked that the package was complete. I asked two sales associates to confirm this meant that it has all the parts and cables as I live at Tahoe, a 90-min round trip drive. Both assured me that indeed the box was complete. Of course, when i got home the package was missing the power cable! I called, they can do nothing over the phone. I returned to the store a few days later - they didnt have a LG cable and they would neither ship me one nor give me the universal cable they sell for any TV. Their singular suggesting was "come back later and see if we have it in stock." Thats the worst service Ive received in an electronics store in memory.
