I took my dog to this PetsMart on Memorial Day to get her nails trimmed, and I could not believe how horrible my experience was there. I should have left the instant I walked into their smelly, filthy parlor, with puddles of pee no one bothered to clean up right by the register, but I was afraid I wouldn’t find another place open during the holiday without a long search. So I greeted them and they asked me if I had an appointment, and when I said no, I just need my dog’s nails trimmed, they sort of looked amongst themselves and finally picked a young high-school age kid to help me. When he got to the register he asked if I had my dog’s rabies paperwork… what? I told him I didn’t. He informed me that he needed it to trim my dog’s nails. I told him I’ve taken her to various locations to get her nails trimmed before and they’ve never needed it, and he just said it was company policy. So I told him I had her rabies tag; he said that wasn’t good enough since it didn’t have the expiration. So he pressed me on what PetsMart I usually go to, so he can get the info from them, to which I’m like it doesn’t matter because they’ve never taken it, but he keeps pressing me on it anyway, and he asks me who my vet is and calls them. Of course they aren’t open because it’s Memorial Day, just as I told him they probably weren’t open. Throughout all this he keeps taking phone calls and making entire appointments while I’m standing there, and my dog’s freaking out because she’s nervous and another dog keeps crying from one of the tables where one of the groomers keeps tugging his face to groom it as he tries to turn it away because he has obvious clipper burn and is in pain. The kid mentions offhand that I could go to the Banfield veterinarian attached and they “might” clip her nails for me; I just kind of give him a pained expression because this is the most fuss I’ve ever seen over a nail clipping in my life. After yet another phone call he finally informs me that they can clip my dog’s nails, they just have to put a muzzle on her. Now, my dog doesn’t need a muzzle but if they would have just told me that in the FIRST place I would have said fine, it’s only going to be a minute anyway, and I could have been OUT of there! So he muzzles her, takes her to a table in the back, and clips her nails while a dog they’ve let LOOSE in the parlor sniffs her from behind and she almost falls off the table trying to get away from him. In the end I paid $10 to be treated like crap, he did a terrible job on her nails, and I’d never seen her so miserable as when she was up on that table in a muzzle while a strange dog was sniffing her. I will NEVER go back there, and you should beware as well.

This place is horrible. Scheduled my two Schnauzers to be groomed on line. Showed up and the rude as hell groomer (Marge), was the nearest to the register. As I walked in with a smile and positive attitude, I got met with a scowl and a shaking head. She let me stand there with my two anxious dogs for 5 freaking minutes. Then she said in a rude tone, "Do you have an appointment"? I wanted to say, "No I just show up with my dogs and expect them to get right in!" "Yes, I have an appointment". So she looks in the computer for what seemed like an eternity and says, "You dont have an appointment". I said "yes I do." Now Im pissed. She said we are overbooked and cant take them. Just like that. She didnt even make eye contact. I asked for the manager. Manager came over and I explained the situation. The whole time, Marge was shaking her head. I was seconds away from cussing her out. I didnt. I pulled up my confirmation on my phone. Proof I had an appointment. Manager basically said too bad too sad. I told them their review would be coming soon. Dont go here. Bad service all around.

The customer in front of me was trying to return an unopened, unused product. The very polite, friendly, and nice cashier scanned it and the receipt came up as "too old" to allow for return. She called for a manager and the manager came to the front and didnt acknowledge the customer, didnt greet the customer, just ignored the customer like he wasnt even there. The cashier explained the situation to the manager who said, "No, then" and walked off. She never looked at what the product was, she never looked at the receipt to see if it was one day over or a hundred days over, and she never explained the policy to the customer . She left all of that to the cashie to deal with. The gentleman then asked was there any recourse whatsoever as he didnt need the product. The cashier said she could call the manager again and see if we can give you store credit. He politely declined. I suppose being ignored once was enough. Just based on that interaction Ill find another pet store to shop at. God forbid I ever have an issue that needed manager-level resolution at this one.

I really needed a shampoo for my dog. He has itchy skin and will scratch it til it bleeds if I dont wash him with a special shampoo. I went to petsmart to get another of the same bottle. The employee in the back told me I have to wait 3 days until the vet comes back. I told her Id rather take my dog to a real vet that actually cares about animals. Also was told I would have to pay for another exam. I already had paid for 2 exams. Why wasnt My pet diagnosed right the first 2 times I paid for an exam? I just needed a $30 shampoo but they want me to pay $150 for another exam as to say "we didnt do our job right the first time and gave you the wrong medicine". Very sad they act like they care about pets.

I took my puppy there for beginner and intermediate training with Renee. The training was definitely worth it. Renee is great-very helpful for all your new puppy/anxious owner questions-very sweet and good with the dogs, and always has helpful tips. She also let my dog drop in on the advanced training class for free whenever we wanted and also will board certain dogs. The boarding was comparable price with the vets boarding facilities but had all the extra love and attention of being in a home. My dog has grown up to be more obedient than I think either Renee or I thought she would be!

We brought our dog here only once. The grooming area is chaotic and small. Grooming took an extra 3 hours than was originally planned because our dog needed an extra bath after peeing from fear. The groomer was unfamiliar with the breed and gave our dog an odd haircut. The only plus is that the price is less than independent grooming stores. Would suggest a different option, especially if your dog is at all uneasy in a very frenzied envirornment.
