I highly recommend this eye doctor! I came in mildly stressed about visit because I needed contacts for my upcoming wedding in less than a month, and I was coming in without insurance. I chose this doctor because of reviews online, and I can honestly say that every great review here is accurate for this office. My first impression was awesome -- friendly desk staff, and a clean facility. Then I was greeted by the technician, who was so awesome! She was very friendly and informative. The office was running a bit behind on their appointments and because I was without insurance, they gave me a free upgrade to get my eye check done without dialation. This was so awesome for me because I not only have to be cost conscious, but I also loved that I could go to work after my appointment without having my eyes dialated. Then the eye Doctor came and apologized for his delay, even though I didnt even wait long. The doctor was very informative about everything, which was so impressive to me because I had services provided that I had never experienced at my Georgia eye Doctor, like the 3D imaging. By the end of my visit, I got two different sample contacts within minutes. This was amazing because I was mentally prepared to have to wait for my contacts. Also, this was great because I could test out two different types of contacts to choose the best one for me later. When it came to paying, which I was worried about, I was so relieved. They gave me 20% off for same day payment, and told me my follow up visit would be including in todays payment. It cost less than I thought it would be. I also got a free sample of contact solution. Everyone from start to finish was happy to hear about my upcoming wedding, and they all assured me Id have contacts for the big day. At the very end of my visit, the woman who was checking me out was so friendly and respectful. She didnt make me feel bad about my lack of insurance, and she was understanding of my situation. She even walked me all the way out of the office to show me to the door and say goodbye!! I felt it was important to share this experience in its entirety because I was positively impacted on so many levels from start to finish. I could not be more appreciative for the quality service!

Highly commercialized setup; always trying to up-sell services, and the eye clinic seems like merely a vehicle to drive sales for glasses and contacts. Because of insurance changes I couldnt go to my previous doctor, this is the place my new insurance suggested. During the exam they never asked whether or not I wanted to receive dilation, only which extra charge I would accept (chemical or photographical). I had to refuse the OPTIONAL service entirely several times under pressure as Id already had that done recently. After the exam I was immediately shunted to a sales office to be pitched contacts. I usually buy my contacts online, but I was told in order to receive my full insurance benefit I had to purchase contacts with a professional fitting, which was part of the exam. Because my previous contacts were no longer being manufactured, the sales agent insisted that I needed a more expensive fitting with multiple follow-ups. Though I didnt feel it was at all necessary I was told they could not and would not do it any other way. So most of my yearly lens allowance was eaten up by this more expensive fitting, on top of that their lens prices are significantly higher than my usual source. The only reason for two stars instead of one is that I also needed new lenses for my glasses. In that they performed admirably. I used my existing 15-year-old frames and they fit new lenses in a matter of 3 days. However, when I returned to pick them up its a good thing that I had my receipt because they had forgotten that I already paid for them and tried to charge me again. Ive been going to eye doctors for over 30 years and my prescription hasnt changed 20, so I have a pretty decent idea of how this should go. I dislike feeling more like a pocketbook than a person, especially when concerning health care. This experience certainly made me feel that way and I doubt Ill return here.

Dr. Blomquist is my doctor at Apple Valley Eye Care. Hes knowledgeable and thorough and makes sure I know all my options for whatever eye care I need. There are no surprises with Dr. Blomquist; if Im surprised its only because I wasnt listening. I have become even more appreciative of his expertise as I have compared my experiences with others who are having the same procedures as I. I find myself telling them to be sure of this, that and the other thing that their doctors didnt tell them, but mine did.
