V Ignoring the adopt dont shop person, there are really good dogs here and they are well taken care of. We got two dogs from this shop in 2012 and these dogs must have been bred well because neither dog has suffered from any sort of severe health defects or anything in the few years they have been a part of our life. We got a Puggle named Pugsy and a Teddybear named Fuzzy and both of these little darlings have been amazing. The owners of this place also are very, very nice and are willing to help you with what you need. They let you pet the puppies they have there and offer advice on what to purchase for the dog. I went inside asking what kind of harness to get for the dogs and they picked one off the shelf saying the harness is good for the dog to prevent them from breaking free and running off. Honestly, if you want a newborn puppy, you should shop here, or if you are conscious, you can adopt a dog at a local shelter. Either way these little ones need our love. :)

One of the longest standing independently owned small businesses in the area that in itself is impressive. The puppies are very well taken care of. I love that they know the breeders that they use for over 25 years and that ensures you know the history and bloodline of each dog. The owner has lived in the area her whole life and takes great pride in her pups. Myself and my daughter and several friends have bought puppies from the Shaggy Dog and I would recommend it to anyone. Any Nay sayers out there are just that, Nay Sayers whom like to start up drama. If your looking to get a dog do your research check out the breeds know what you are getting before you make that commitment. Be responsible. And support your local community.....

I bought a puppy from Shaggy Dog 3yrs ago and she is doing fine. I had considered getting a rescue dog but heard nothing but horror stories about these rescue animals. In the end I was glad I got my puppy from Shaggy dog. The puppies are well cared for and allowed to run around in little pens instead of being kept in small cages. The store is kept clean.The puppies are vet checked before you buy them. No dog wheither from a rescue or a pet store comes with a 100 o/o guarntee. I also take my dog to their groomer and she does a great job. She talks quitely to the dogs so they are not scared. Everyone needs to decide for themselves where they want to get their dog or puppy.

Bought a teddy bear puppy a year and a half ago.....Had to put her down this past week at 1 1/2 years old. Broke my kids heart. Vet said she was in kidney failure. Ultra sound revealed she was born with 2 abnormal kidneys. Now I am certain these dogs are from a puppy mill. They do not sell healthy dogs! They told me once she passed they would give me a new puppy! Seriously?? Never offered to help pay vet bills but want to give another dog??? Dont take a chance like I did! Its not worth the pain I put my kids through! Do your homework and find a good breeder!

I find it interesting that most of the folks giving a one star review here have never been to Shaggy Dog!! My dogs have been safely groomed there for over 30 years. The owner coached me through training a wild rescue dog not purchased there. The people who work there are kind and love animals. Now, because of a terribly sad accident and subsequent witch hunt by horrible people who claim to love animals but apparently have no regard for humans, lives and reputations are being attacked by strangers. Dont believe their lies.

I saw a lady hitting a dog while grooming it.. Please dont support this place. You CAN NOT trust them. I can only imagine what goes on in their puppy mills. Please adopt, dont shop. Puppy mills are horrible. I adopted a puppy mill survivor, and she has so many injuries and mental problems. Even after showing her love for a year, she is still afraid of people and noises. She is terrified of humans. We cant justify putting dogs through this to get their babies, its not morally right.

Theres a reason the only 5 stars you see on here are within the last week or so... The owners friends are trying to help out these terrible people who have been exposed! They run a mill (which is why you can find so many pure bred puppies here), abuse the animals people trust to bring there and have already killed two animals! Please if you have any compassion for animals do not go here. They have been reported by a lot of people already and people are picketing there constantly.

Its been a long time since I have bought a puppy, but my dog hush puppy that I got at shaggy dog lived a very happy very long life. He passed away a few years ago at a very ripe old age of 14. I would go back in a heart beat. They truly care about the puppies and their new families.

My family bought my very first shitz zoo puppy from here about 18 years ago, Im not sure if the same people still own it but i wanted to comment on how wonderful our dog was and how great this store is!! Amazing first pet, great health, lived a long life and had a great personality.

I bought my puppy from here and she is healthy and happy. The staff is really kind and great. My puppy loved going so this is where we will continue to take her. We went to a groomer in Fraser and they nicked her all over and shaved her bald! I would never go back to Fraser.

Took my white maltese there and got a phone call a couple hours later saying my dog wasnt listening. My dog was half shaved with flees everywhere. Also my dog wouldnt even go outside to the bathroom for a month because she was scared we were going to take her back!

I got my Chihuahua from Shaggy Dog years ago. As a Chi, she is the most loving and passive dog Ive ever owned... and yet, becomes Super Dog as she chases squirrels around the yard. We just LOVE her! Thanks Shaggy Dog!
