I have been going to P&T for about a year now. I bought two very young beardies (as young as you can get them) and although Id had experience with them before, Id never dealt with anything less than a full-grown adult. As such, I encountered several problems I had no clue how to handle. But P&T was always willing to give suggestions (even over the phone once, and I know theyre always busy). Their suggestions have always fixed the problem, and have even saved me money and time overall. Theyre feeder insect prices are reasonable, and Ive never been turned down for ordering too many (PetCo told me I shouldnt buy more than 50 crickets a week, cause it makes them run low.... haha thats like one days lunch for two growing beardies). They also have a variety of terrariums for sale, including those nice front-slider ones that I never see in the bigger chains, in addition to lighting/supplements/driftwood/cage liners/etc.

After over a year of research and getting so many answers my head was spinning not knowing what to believe. Along with visiting other area shops and being turned off by the care of the animals and state of the facilities, then actually being told that I have to make a purchase before they would answer any of my questions. I found this place by accident and ended up spending over an hour there with my son they were so helpful answered all my questions and made me feel at ease about my first reptile purchase. They let my son hold multiple animals to make a proper choice and even had him stick his hand in the crickets so he would know what it was like to feed his new pet. We are now anxiously awaiting the call to let us know that a they have a pair of Bearded Dragons available. we will definitely be new regulars at this fine establishment.

the only reason i go to this place is because they are the only ones who sell feeder mice around my area, other than that i dont know how the place is open either, with the days that they are closed they should def clean the place up,it always smells, has spiderwebs on the ceilings,i know that they only have a total of i think 3 people who work there but they could make so much more money if they just cleaned everything, and straigtened everything out,it is just a mess,i dont think that the animals are in poor condition, the tanks are kept up as much as they should, whenever i go there the girl is always drinking tea when the store could be fixed up,it bothers me and i would love to tell them but that would be very rude

This place is completely god awful. Its never open even when the hours on the door say they should be open. There is never anybody there. The one time we managed to find this place open and decided to go in and have a look we were horrified and disgusted. All of the animals looked sickly and neglected. There wasnt a single cage or tank that wasnt in desperate need of a cleaning and the entire store smelled of animal urine and feces. I cannot even fathom how this place stays in business when it is hardly ever open and all of their animals look like they might die at any moment. I honestly had to hold back tears as I was leaving because I felt sorry for all of those animals.

Cluttered, filthy, and sick. I understand having that many animals must be a lot of work to take care of, but if that is the case hire more people to clean them. The tanks were filthy, covered in algae, sick frogs with damaged eyes, there were old, used tanks (still dirty) stacked up all over in the back, and the prices were outrageous. Not to mention the 2 grey baby chinchillas were sick, losing their fur all over, and the tall cage with the lighter chinchilla, towards the front, we thought was just another unused cage they were storing because we couldnt imagine a pet store making an animal live in something so filthy. We will never set foot in that store again

Pets and Things is hands down the best reptile specialty store Ive found to date in the Greater Detroit area. Thanks to them, my juvenile savannah monitor is eating like a king without driving me broke. A great place to go especially if you need big feeder insects, mice, and other reptile food you cant get at normal pet stores. The prices on food are especially good if you buy in bulk, which is kind of a must if you have one of the larger species of reptile. Its a little hard to spot the driveway for the parking lot from the road on the first try though. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, and the store itself really is a cool place in its own right.

I adopted a Murphy Gecko from this wonderful place. He has an amazing temperment. I went in there looking for a tortoise. After i was well educated by a worker who knew everything about any reptile ever, he made me realize the Gecko was the best option for me. Every time i see this lizard i light up because he is just the best. After going to petsmart or petco and going here, the difference is HUGE. These are the healthiest and best taken care of reptiles i have ever seen. I learned so much on my visit and it was very fun. The staff is extremely educated and very friendly. I recommend this shop all the time.

I drove 30 miles, went past half a dozen other pet stores because my gecko was having a problem and I knew they would know what to do. Their experienced staff is unbelievable. One look and they knew what the problem was and fixed it right there, free of charge. They also told me what I needed to do for the next week to help my leopard gecko. Before this situation I had only been in their store once and I knew this was the place I needed to go. This is the store I recommend to go if you even need something reptile related. This is the only place I will ever consider buying my next reptile from.

So so pet store..Pretty dirty, but they definitely have a lot crammed into a small place..Employees tend to force their ideas and methodologies for handling/raising reptiles on any and everyone that walks in the door. Most of the animals are improperly housed / maintained but this seems to be a common trend in pet stores today. Better than petco, but not better than roadshow or great lakes reptiles..

Pretty good experience overall they have everything i frequently buy online but it is a bit over priced but i can understand considering the house they use is pretty rickety. A few things they could work on is product organisation and price tags i found my self asking about prices often but other than that i think it was a great time and pretty good deals on specific creatures.

walked in asking for assistance in feeding a baby alligator snapping turtle that i picked up out of the sewage in Lake st Claire. both workers lashed out at me saying what i was doing was illegal and that they had nothing for me to feed it. i walked out. also the place smelled extremely foul, everything definitely needs to be cleaned.

best pet shop I have EVER been to. The bad reviews must be outdated because all of the animals here were healthy, full and tanks very clean. The owner was so cool and shared tons of knowledge, he listened to the problems my friend was having with her snake with sincerity. Thank you pets & Things!
