I thought this place was a great place to donate, until I actually stepped inside & looked around. I found two Hawaiian shirts and two new DVD s. One of the shirts had the tags on so I thought I had found a great deal, the DVDs were also new. The DVDs were of Tina Turner live in concert and Gone with the Wind. I went up to pay and the woman who could barely speak English told me with her thick European accent that she would not sell me the DVDs and the new shirt because they were NEW. I asked her why and she said that the new DVDs are to be donated to her border kids. I asked why are you giving these DVDs to children? Tina Turner live in concert is probably not something a child would want to watch. I love her music but I doubt if a kid will be wanting to see a DVD of her in concert. Gone With The Wind is a four hour movie. I have a nephew & a niece & the last thing they want to do is sit in front of a television to watch a one hour movie, let along a four hour one. I asked to speak to someone else & she said she was the manager. She rudely said she was not going to sell them to me. I told her that what she was doing was very UNFAIR. If you put something out in the racks to sell you cant just selectively choose who you are going to sell it too or change your mind when someone decides to pay for it. I actually thought this place was doing good and have personally donated tons of great items to them. I will NEVER go back to donating at the Clothes Closet. Sorry!

The Clothes Closet is extremely helpful to low-income families, allowing 3 free outfits per month per family member, to those whove been through the intake process at Neighborhood House. It can be difficult to find anything for plus size individuals, but the availability is entirely dependent on donations, so its understandable. On several ocassions I have felt very uncomfortable while shopping because the woman who oversees operations is extremely strict and verbally rude, even if you just didnt know the rules and restrictions. She belittles and berates minorities, and discusses customers loudly with other volunteers. If I were the Director, I would never let her be in charge of clients. Even poor people deserve respect, and there are ways to be assertive without being plain mean. Its too bad though. Shes been there forever, and it probably wont change. I guess beggars cant be choosers, and we wont be allowed to forget it...

Great clothes, great prices . Great way to help others in the community. Staff is nice and friendly except one person. She is an older foreign woman with an accent and she is extremely rude to the lower income clients who go in. I have heard her speak with them and they are embarrassed and humiliated by her treatment. She also changes the prices on the clothing when you take them up to the register. She is forgetting that this is not a high end department store. It is as though she looks at you to see if you can afford more and will change the price higher. We have stopped going in on the days she works because of this reason.

What a fantastic place! We donate all the time and now we shop here too! Great prices and clothes, shoes, etc. Always finding name brand, near perfect condition or even with original tags still on, for only a few dollars. Remember to do some good for your community, clean out some drawers and donate to people in need!
