I was really excited to get a bike shop in Ferndale, and love supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, I havent had good experiences with them. Ive taken two bikes in for service & tuneups. I also went in when I was looking to buy a new bike. The first bike that got service & a tuneup went well; they were very reasonably priced and did everything well. For the second bike, though, they charged $72 for two sets of brake pads and a tuneup, and not only did they leave the old rear brake pads on, I dont believe that they did the tuneup. The chain is still gritty, with old oil on it, and the other components that they should have serviced have dust and cobwebs on them, indicating they werent touched. When I went in looking to buy a new bike, they didnt seem to have much knowledge, and left me standing around for half an hour waiting to try out a bike that I liked. When I finally decided to leave, the guy that was supposed to be helping me was just standing out front smoking. Seems like a bunch of guys that just thought it would be fun to run a bike shop rather than people interested in providing quality service.

Turned mike bike in for repair on Friday and was told that it should be ready by Tuesday and should get a call. I was very excited to get it back so when 3:00 pm rolled around I called to check in on it. I was told that my bike was 4th in line and will be done either that night or the following morning. I received no call that night or the following day. Now its Thursday and I call to check on it. The shop cant find my order and I have to tell them which bike is mine. "it will be done today" but it was not. Finally it was completed Friday afternoon. The receipt was re written and half of the services were performed. They obviously lost the original order and just did what they though I needed/wanted. what i asked for: New break pads new chain new brake lined new shifter lines new tires what I got: new break lines one set of new break pads new chain I wasnt willing to have it sit in their shop for another week for the other services. i smiled, paid and took the bike to a new shop.

My fiancé and I went to DFBS for the first time today to purchase bikes; we both used to own them, but havent had them for a few years, and werent really sure what we needed. We explained that we are casual riders and gave a price point, and the sales guy spent a lot of time with us explaining the different options and letting us test ride several bikes. I didnt feel rushed or pressured to buy anything, but I actually found a bike I love, so I ordered it and cant wait until it arrives. My fiancés bike was in the shop, so we took his home. The sales guy was very friendly and open, and at one point actually talked us out of an accessory he didnt think we needed; talk about honesty! Again, I really appreciate the amount of time he took with us and the no-pressure atmosphere.

This is the place to go, if you have a bike you love, or would like to buy a bike that you can love. they carry some of the best bikes, and not the typical brands the ordinary bike stores offer. The owner and workers here ride, and know what you are talking about when you explain whats going on. the right bike makes the difference between one you will ride everyday, and one that becomes garage art. I highly recommend the Downtown Ferndale Bike Shop, as someone who rides their bike to work and back every day.

Best bike shop around. I have 2 bikes from them now and am very happy. The staff is super helpful and the prices are really good. You can tell the shop is run by people that are passionate about biking. Dont waste your money on some junk bike at a big box store that was put together by someone that doesnt know a MTB from a cyclocross, and will probably break in couple months, also help to keep money local and support a great Ferndale business. Also check out their Downtown Detroit location as well.

I stopped in just needing a bike chain and a helmet for my child. The men there were VERY helpful, very greatly staffed and did not need to wait at all to get serviced. They knew exactly what I needed where everything was and knew exactly what to do. I had to stop by two additional times to get the chain put on and because a piece I needed was missing, they didnt ask questions and were VERY willing to help. Surely will be returning with any questions bike problems or any purchases!

Great personality!!! I got back into Bike Riding after a few year layoff, and these guys are GREAT! I went into buy a new seat , but they told me I didnt need one (That my bottom had to get used to biking again) . Wow, this kind of honesty , and professionalism from REAL BIKERS makes me stop in once a week. I strongly urge anyone living within 20 miles to check this place out. A Bike Shop that is run by Bike Riders who would have thought? STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

This is the place to buy your next bike or have your old one tuned up. Ive already bought two bikes from this shop in the last year. I now own 4 bikes because of this shop, my wife thinks Im now crazy btw. They are very cool about educating you about different bikes without making you feel dumb, and let you discover the difference yourself by test riding their bikes through Ferndale. Owners Jon and Shina have great passion for what they do. Shop local!

Cool bike shop. I ride a ton of MTB, and am constantly fixing/upgrading/tinkering with my bike. The service is great, the prices are competitive, and the dudes working at the shop are great to deal with.
