"You-Blew-It!" is a nickname an electrician friend of mine gave this place after having several discussions with their staff. Stock: A+ Staff: C Location: B+ For the most part, this place is hit or miss. Employees are pretty knowledgeable of where the product is on the floor but not too knowledgeable when it comes to technical questions regarding the items. One time I was looking for a DVI to VGA adapter and one of the staff told me outright that they dont exist... So, I gave up trying to convince the goon they do in fact exist and proceeded to look around for other items on my list and low and behold guess what I found... a DVI to VGA adapter! After finding everything I needed (by myself) I brought it all up to the cashier who was the same guy who told me about the non-existent adapter. I said nothing but I noticed he paused when he came across it when I had brought up for purchase. He then finalized the transaction, glanced at me and said "have a great day" with a slight bit of arrogance in his voice and demeanor. To make this story short, I could have said "Know what you want, get it yourself and save your breath if you need some advice from this goof troop"

The guy who said rude and dishonest probably works for BestBuy or another sheisty competitor. The fact is that You-Do-It has inventory you cant find ANYWHERE else if your a consumer. Years ago Radio Shack used to carry supplies like these but now has adopted more a BestBuy philosophy. Fact is You-Do-It (FIRST FLOOR) has the BEST selection of tech supplies and gadgets in eastern massachusetts. I stop there often for Networking Equipment such as Cat-5 cables, Lineman Handsets, Punch Tools, Connectors, etc.. and so on. In Ravivs defense I would say that the second floor which offers Home Electronics such as TVs and Stereos, DJ Equipment, Computers etc needs a better Inventory Specialist to order better quality stuff. I personally would not purchase anything from the second floor but once again for true hardcore nerd electronics you CANNOT BEAT THIS PLACE!

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. I rarely will write reviews but this place blew me away. Not only did they have an excellent selection of electric components but the customer service was top-notch. I walked in there and and an associate asked if I needed any help on anything which I did since their selection is so large. He stayed with me the entire time helping me find each and every component and even doing cross-references to see if there were any substitute components for the few they didnt have. It made the experience that much better and quicker, since I was on break and needed to get in and out of there quickly while collecting over 25 different components. This place is a hobbyist dream and Im so glad that there is something like it near me. Keep up the great work and I will be a loyal customer for years to come.

I go here for all of my hobby electronics projects. They have everything Ive ever needed for my projects (although I wish they carried official Arduino boards instead of OSEPP ones). Often times I find myself wandering throughout the store, distracted by their selection of products even when I go there looking for one particular item. I cant speak for the knowledge of the staff since Ive never asked for help. Their prices are fair, but youre obviously not going to get a better price at a retail store than you would via an e-tailer like Amazon. A commenter below said this is in a "sketchy" area. The store is located in a very densely laid-out industrial area where there tends to be a lot of traffic during lunch or on the weekends, but I wouldnt consider it sketchy in the sense of it being a dangerous area.

I was driving back to Vermont from Boston and visited You-Do-It for the first time. I absolutely love being able to browse a real store instead of shopping for components online. It was a welcoming, friendly environment with a huge selection and very nice staff. I was able to buy several aluminum project cases, op amp chips, potentiometers, a variety of switches, prototype boards and a lot more. If you are into building or fixing, this is the place to go.

Watch out for this place. Their clerks and management are rude, they dont have prices on their merchandise and so when you get to the register they seem to make up prices. This place is also in a sketchy area. Just buy your stuff online because in todays day and age, anything you can get at this place you can get for less online and then you dont need to deal with the clerks or the manager at this place who are just plain rude and insulting.

This is the greatest place on earth, they have most everything for electronics and service is certainly better than three hours of research in forums filled with people that tell you to Google your questions. Honestly, Ive been there a million times by now and I dont even tell my wife because it would look too suspicious to spend so much time in a store. Once I get in there its like everything is possible except time travel...

I miss this place. I live in a different state and finding electronics components is a big pain. I have to order from Digikey, Mouser folks and I spend time to get them and cost a lot more. Radio Shack used to be good place for components and now they carry very small inventory and variety. I really miss You-do-it Electronics Center. I used to live few miles from it. If I travel to Newton, I will definitely pay a visit. Cheers!

I saw the review below "Nerd Heaven" and they are right. Its like a radio shack on steroids....BUT you will pay through the nose for a good portion of their products. I was in a pinch and needed an HDMI adapter. They were selling it for $24. I found it later on Amazon for $6. If you are in the area and need something RIGHT now or just want to browse this place is great. If you can wait order online from other sources.

I cant say that I have ever walked out of the place disappointed! I am often searching do unique ways to do things, and the supply of items here fits for me. Only problem I have ever had from a staff member was in 1980s! and it wasnt anything that was a big deal! Overall, its a heck of a place, and Ill be a customer for as long as I have breath. Wish they were open Sundays!

You-do-it Electronics is place to get electronic parts, kits, tools, books and A-V gear. They also have the tools and supplies need to run network connections, along with large selection of Arduino Boards and LED kits. If you need a cable or replacement part (capacitor) they are your best place to find it. The sales staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

I really appreciate that several of the staff members have built electronics, have used lots of the components and tools, so can provide advice based on real world experience. I also appreciate them understanding the difference between the needs of a hobbyist for an inexpensive tool to be used a few times, and a professional that needs robust, precision equipment.
