I contracted installation of Timber Tech decking, approx. cost $14,000 of materials. I instructed the contractor not to purchase from Home Depot due issues of a previous purchase of a bathroom vanity, . Despite my orders to the contractor, he order the decking from Home Depot. The contractor kept kicking the time frame to construct the decking down the road claiming the decking was not in. On 7/9/15 I went to the Leominster MA store to inquire the status of the order. The clerk at the pro desk stated in would be in the next day. It did not arrive the next day. It was missorted to Boston instead of Leominster. Not until Wednesday 7/15 when I came home I saw a partial delivery of the decking only, no rails, sprawled about 18 feet from the street, 20 % on my driveway, 80 % on my lawn, sprawled out like I was kicking it out to the curb. My first call was to the contractor to see if it was his doing. He stated he knew the decking was arriving and instructed Home Depot to unload it in the back yard. I promptly went to the Leominster store, the store manager was out. I spoke to the asst manager. I asked why the decking was not placed where instructed. His response was the truck had a gate issue. Thats no excuse, the driver still should had delivered it to the instructions the contractor gave Home Depot. I stated I did not want that delivery due to if composite decking is cracked, moisture will ruin the decking. I also asked the asst manager what compensation Ill receive for the issues. He stated Ill receive compensation. I asked how much, he stated he will not give a number until the job is completed. Not even a ball park. Are they going to offer $50 or $5,000? I asked for the phone number for the district office, he refused to provide the number. Shortly after, the store manager called. She could not provide an answer as to why the driver did not deliver in the back yard or why the driver just left the decking by the road, or why Home Depot did not call the contractor or home owner. I refused the delivery and demanded compensation for the missort and delay to reorder as the 1st shipment possibly had damaged product. The store manager offered $750, We agreed on a mere $1,000 compensation, less than 10% off, a coupon would have been better. The manager stated that shell monitor the reorder. Home Depot sent 2 employees that afternoon to stack the decking onto skids and strap the decking. They showed up at 6:45 the next morning to pick up the decking waking me, my family and the neighborhood with the constant beeping of the truck when in reverse On the evening of 7/16 I spoke to the contractor, He stated that the driver called to apologize, he barely spoke English but from what he understood, the decking fell off the truck onto the street. The driver and my neighbor helped the driver pick the decking from the street to end of my driveway. What is the mentality of this Home Depot Driver. The decking falls off the truck, and he still drops it off at the end of the driveway instead of returning to store? They do not immediately call the contractor or home owner. If I didnt come home , the decking probably would have been installed by the contractor. Then in short time Ill have problems with the decking, and the manufacture would be the scape goat. Whod pay for labor ? On 7/17 , I asked the store manager why I wasnt informed that the decking fell off the truck onto the street, she didnt have an answer. I asked how the decking fell off the truck, she stated the strapping broke ( probably the same quality strapping found on the shelves ) The asst manager stated a gate issue. I instructed the managed to cancel the reorder, she started to offer more compensation. At this point she could have offered a full refund and deliver the decking. It still wouldnt have mattered. If the 2nd shipment was treated the same as the first it would cost me more in labor to redo the deck. Bottom line, DO NOT BE A HERO by thinking youll save a few bucks at Home Depot. Ill never even buy a nail from them

I have been a semi-regular customer for a few years. I dont always get the right answer, but I usually get good or helpful answers. I always take most answers (from anybody, even "experts") with a grain of salt anyway, until I can get confirmation. Simple problem answers from HD have usually been no problem - good answers. I like the people there - they have good attitudes. Ive gotten to recognize a few people, and there are one or two I will look for when I REALLY need an answer to a problem (which will never be a common run-of-the-mill type problem). After the bad reviews here, I had to say something nice. The folks there are good, and for a big-box type hardware store, they do pretty well. I do remember a lot worse, and I dont think Ive ever seen much better (at a big-box type).

I always buy more than I need . No prob.returning. But dont buy their gift cards. Or buy x tra stock. I returned x tra stock. They kept it. Gave me store credit which they track thru computer and ur lic. I had the slip.but w sku #. But misplaced card. They wouldnt help me. Just buy family big c.card company gift cards or cash. Big .c.card companies will issue u another card. Very disappointed. They took back the stock. Hey know lost card has 100 plus dollars in it, I need to show my LIC. To use but they are apathetic. Filing claim with mass state attorney general. M.G.L. 93 A

While I believe the selection is quite good, the service has always been sub-par. Also, while pricing on large ticket items is competitive, the prices on smaller items (nails, trim, etc) are outrageous compared to small local hardware suppliers. If you know exactly what you want to build, and exactly what you need for the job, you can make this place work for you. But if you have any questions, this isnt the place to get them answered.

I dont visit home improvement stores often, but my visit today was one of the best Ive had. We spoke to several employees seeking assistance, and all were very friendly and helpful. Our cashier, Linda, was absolutely amazing. She was absolutely wonderful, helping while we made last minute decisions, and really made the decision to visit The Home Depot worth it. We will always come here when we need something.

Two of the items we were looking for were not available (screen for slider purchased at home depot and tub doors for the tub we bought at home depot), there were stairs in most aisles and the machines to move large items all over the place as well, carts with product just sitting in aisles blocking the way through. On a side note the employees were friendly and tried to be helpful.

Ordered a large custom exterior door I was called to schedule a date for delivery WE AGREED to a date on that date my paid for merchandise NEVER showed up and I NEVER received a call to explain why! I had to call the next morning to find out why, I was given a line of BS from the delivery department guy and his supervisor it took them an additional 3 days to get me my door delivered!
