Sawyer Brook Distinctive Fabrics is a hidden gem! Faten is delightful and a fountain of knowledge. When I travel to the shop she spends 2 hours by my side, answering questions about all things fabric and construction. She can tell me just what fabric will drape best for a garment. I bring my patterns and inspiration boards and she offers fabric suggestions. She helps me determine yardage. She drapes fabric over my shoulder in front of a mirror. I love hearing the history of where the fabric came from. I learn so much about fabrics each time I go. I always have a fabulous experience and I come home with beautiful additions to my stash! In addition to showcasing beautiful fabrics, her website displays many photos of each fabric including a close-up, drape on a dress form, and a description that includes suggested uses. This is very helpful to me and fun to read!

I liked this store. She said to call ahead unless its a Wednesday or the last Saturday of the month because shes there more randomly the rest of the time. I learned not to bring young kids who want to touch things! Its set up more for a boutique shopping experience where the owner is a personal shopper and and they are organized for efficient packaging since most of their business is online. Thankfully they had blocks for my kids to play with and the owners were nice about things but I wont bring them again. The only reason I didnt give this 5 stars is because I did feel so awkward with my kids, but I will be back kid-free!

The owner is so knowledgeable about all things fabric and sewing. She is patient with her customers. The fabrics are beautiful and unique. You know she loves fabric and has a keen eye for color and fashion. I cant wait to take another field trip to her shop. I would definitely trust using mail order for my purchases.
