This store is a HORRIBLE place and you can be fooled there. The reason is very simple: NO RETURN POLICY. The sign of no return policy is nowhere visible in the store and no employees ever tell you that till your purchase. You might be TRAPPED. The manager was HORRIBLE. Think three times before you ever buy anything there. My wife made the purchase and was shocked by the very expensive price charged for the ribbon. She wanted to return it but was told the No Return policy printed at the bottom of the receipt. This is the best example of cheating in the receipt--black and white, it states there is no return policy so you deserved it. If you really really want to buy anything there, make sure that you are absolutely certain this is what you want. No sorry. The manager did not help you in anyway except for reminding you the no return policy. This is a BAD practice of business. Dishonest and cheating.

High Fashion has probably the best retail selection of garment fabric in the state of Texas. On one of my visits, an employee or co-owner (family business??) SPIT on the floor and smeared it with her foot. I almost passed out, but then again, I am not a mucus person. I am just glad it is not a restaurant. The staff can be quite belligerent if you rub them the wrong way. The cutters do not like you to tell them ANYTHING. Either come prepared to go with the flow or for a fight. They stay in business because of their selection-extensive and reflective of what is haute couture at any given time. If this same group was running a Jo-Anns or a Hancocks, they would have bit the dust long ago. I rate it 4 stars simply on the strength of the fabric selection alone. Customer service is like the Seinfeld episode of "The Soup Nazi".

My wife and I have shopped there many times over the past 10 years. We go there because of their vast selections of fabrics. We make Elizabethan dresses she wears at the Texas Renaissance Festival that goes on in the Fall of every year, so we only go during this period. I have never experienced what some of the reviews are stating below. I do not sew anything else, so Im not a frequent shopper of fabric stores, but I didnt think High Fashions cutters were any different or more rude than at JoAnns or Hancocks...in fact...I have had rude experiences at the other places. I was not aware of their return policies, so I will pay attention to that. We are planning on going there this week for a new dress and cant wait!

The fabrics and materials in this place are definitely more special occasion kind of fabrics. Its mostly relevant in the chiffon/silk/lacey kind of materials. They have a huge selection of dressy fabrics, but if youre looking for casual fabrics, check somewhere else. That being said, the selections that they do carry can be a little out of date. They arent too fashion-forward or anything. Their selection is a little standard, but if youre creative, you can do things with it. Nothing in the store really speaks to me, so I dont buy anything, only browse. I havent had anyone working help me out, either, so I cant speak for the service.

Im surprised at all the poor reviews. Its definitely true that you can get less expensive fabrics at certain stores on Fondren or elsewhere, and sometimes the service at High Fashion is a little nonchalant, but the selection is pretty fantastic and I think the store is easily navigated. I once took sewing classes there, though they are no longer offered, and when they were selling sewing machines I bought a wonderful Viking for 1/2 off. Its also across the street from High Fashion home which has great (though very expensive) upholstery selections. If nothing else, go there to get inspired!

Extremely Poor Customer Service. My expereince with this store is one of the worst. In spite of the fact I was not informed about the "No Return Policy" until I completed the purchase, the manager whom I had some questions for had a very cold and stern face. She did not try to help; instead she had no explanation whatsoever. This practice sent me a message that the purchase was done and they didnt care anymore. I wont go back to this store for sure.

I didnt appreciate the store closing early when their hours are very prominently posted. I thought they closed at 7pm on Sunday but was shocked to see they close at 6pm, however, at 5:45 they were already closed. I drove all the way in from Sugar Land and I wont be coming back to buy the fabric I found there 2 days earlier. Probably a good thing anyway since they are very expensive.

The store has a huge selection and is laid out fairly well. It helps to have some idea of what your searching for as it can be daunting. My biggest complaint is the pricing. I have found matching fabrics for $5.00-$8.00 yard cheaper near Fondren /Westheimer and Harwin areas. If you're willing to visit a couple of places, you will save a lot of money.

Before moving to Houston, I had my (now) husband bring me each visit. From fine fabrics to exciting cotton prints, their selection wont disappoint. Always staff available for questions, and theyre knowledgeable beyond what youll find at any JoAnns. They always greet me by name, too.

I was very impressed the first time I discovered this place decades ago and I continued coming here to this days. They sell all types of fabrics from the simple cotton fabrics to fabrics for formal dresses for custom made and to more elaborate lace and sequence fabrics.

Vast variety of fabrics and sewing needs. One could easily spend an entire day there going through and deciding on fabric. The staff is very knowledgeable and can quickly point you in the right direction to get you questions resolved and needs met.

Theres fabrics of all kinds and colors. Unfortunately the color I needed was not carried there. Rated 4 stars because the csr that helped me was amazing giving me many ideas on how to fix the issue I had with my dress.

Some sales rep are rude and dont really know anything, while some are extremely helpful and polite they do have a huge selection of fabric but if you want something simple just go to walmart honestly

Huge selection for anything fashion fabric related including silks and dance wear nudes. Prices were reasonable, too. A must if youre creating something upscale or outside the norm.

I always love going here. The selection is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Also whoever drapes the mannequins is amazing great designs.

Not only is the selection mediocre, but the staff was terrible and customer service non-existent. Id pass unless they were a last resort.

It is not as good as the old Glick Fabrics subsidiary that used to be on the southwest freeway. I was disappointed.
