Holy hell was this the worst car buying experience imaginable. Went to them only because their price was good. There were a million points at which I seriously considered leaving the deal simply because of how poorly my time was being treated. Even with a deal already worked out, I spent FIVE HOURS at the dealership. How could they possibly have wasted that much of my time you might ask? I honestly couldnt tell you, but Ill try. It seemed as if every decision on their part required about half an hour to be made. I couldnt receive a particular incentive from Honda, which I was previously told I could receive, but due to their negligence the details were not discussed and I only found this out once I was there. Of course this was discovered right before we were supposed to close the deal (after already waiting 3.5 hours) and, instead of waiting merely 5 minutes to figure out what to do, they let someone else go ahead of me in line for the financial office. Another 25 minutes down the drain. During this entire wait, I couldnt even look at or test drive the car, because, despite indications to the contrary, the car wasnt even on the lot! After finally making an arrangement to have it delivered to me the next day, getting into the back room, and watching the worlds slowest typer peck away at the keyboard for another hour or so, I finally was able to leave this wretched place, thinking oh well, five hours down the drain, but at least tomorrow I will be getting the exact car I wanted at a great price. Sure enough, even that was too much to ask. I get a call the next day. The salesman is on his way, and somehow, only now, once the car is detailed and in the process of being delivered, did someone notice that, oh, hey, its not even the right color! The sheer level of incompetence required for nobody in this entire car-buying process to notice that the car is not in the color that I SPECIFICALLY mentioned MULTIPLE times is genuinely baffling to me. Understandably, as I hadnt even seen the vehicle yet, I said I would decide whether or not Id still accept the deal once I saw it. Not long after (couple minutes), someone from the dealership calls me and apologizes, and tells me that, no, I cant even see the car before making a decision because they dont want to add more miles onto the car if Im going to turn it down. Well then. So I tell him Ill call him back in a few minutes while I decide, and while the salesman is pulled over somewhere. After about 9 minutes I call the dealership again, but I cant reach the person I had just spoken to, and Im put on hold. So I hang up and call back the salesman driving my car and tell him Ill buy it. Apparently he was already on his way back to the dealership, as per his bosss orders, despite the fact that time was very sensitive, as the DMV was in danger of closing before he could get there. Nine minutes is too long for these goons I guess for me to decide to continue with a deal made under false pretenses. I told him to turn back around and give me my car only because I wanted this nightmare to be over (and the color happened to be acceptable to me). This dealership has no respect for your time or your interests, only your money. Avoid at all costs.

First of all, I dont know how the reviews on Google are so different from the reviews on Yelp (unless they are padding their reviews). On Yelp, they have 2 out of 5 stars, which seems much more accurate to me. Well, Herb Chambers Honda in Boston hit me with the ol bait-and-switch today. In case you don’t want to read the full post – DO NOT TRUST their internet, email, or phone offers! I went in for an initial visit 10 days ago to lease a Honda Civic. The prices they quoted that day were way too high and we left to shop elsewhere. Two days later I got a call from Mohammed, their internet sales manager (see also post from 6/19/17 about this guy on Yelp). He gave a reasonable quote over the phone and I asked him to email the quote to me along with an itemized list of fees we would pay on the first day. The next weekend we visited other dealerships to compare deals. After running the numbers for the different dealerships we found the deal from Herb Chambers Honda in Boston slightly edged out the competitors. To make sure the deal from Herb Chambers was as reasonable as was quoted in the email, we visited the dealership again last Sunday and talked to a sales rep about the quote. He confirmed the quote was legit and he told us exactly how much we would be paying on the day we bought the car (which was in agreement with the quote emailed from Mohammed). He also told us that the itemized fees were included in the down payment. My wife and I were happy and we told him we would return in two days to lease the car (we wanted to get a new car on our wedding anniversary). Here is how Herb Chambers screwed us with the bait-and-switch today. First, they said that our $3,000 down payment did not include the itemized fees. That tacked on $1,120 to the amount we expected to pay. Second, they told us we also needed to pay $875 for the destination fee, which was not included in any of the itemized fees they previously listed, nor was it mentioned in our visits or in the fine print on their website for the “Special Offers”. Now the amount we were going to pay for the lease was bumped up nearly $2,000 more than we were told we would pay either by email or in person just two days earlier. We then told the rep that we were no longer interested in the deal because other dealerships had better offers. When we told them the better offer, the sales manager came over to us and listed out a base price for how much we would pay that day ($1,200 higher than we were expecting). Then he asked me if I was in the military. I told him I wasn’t and he added $500 to the price! I asked him “You are adding to the price because I didn’t serve in the military?? Isn’t the military discount supposed to be a rebate?” He said the base price assumed I was in the military, and the best they could do was $1,700 over what we were told we would pay two days earlier. We walked out. DO NOT TRUST THEIR INTERNET OR PHONE DEALS!!!! They are designed simply to lure in customers, they do not intend to honor those prices. Avoid Herb Chambers Honda in Boston. Somebody really does need to contact the AG about their unlawful practices.

I will tell you my experience buying an used car at Herb Chambers Honda of Boston. Me and my wife went saw an add for a car that fit our needs online, we saw it was located at this dealership. We then scheduled a visit and we were promptly helped by the sales consultant Gerson Ruiz, Ruiz offered us a a beverage as we were going to his desk, which was nice. He was polite and friendly while maintaining a respectful boundary when we needed time. He helped us select a car and offered us similar options to our original one. He had the answer to every question we had on the tip of his tongue, he accompanied us through a couple of test drives and presented us with every detail and piece of information about the car we wanted to know despite the fact the car was not a Honda. 10/10 Sales consultant without a doubt! Credit must also be given to another gentleman (this was a finance/money person) Mr. Tim. We unfortunately couldnt catch his last name but to those who intend on purchasing a vehicle there, this man went through several hoops in order to get us a better APR on our financing, he didnt have to go the extra mile, but without us even asking him to he took it upon himself to make our car buying experience better. The staff in the front desk, an elderly lady and a young lady, both extremely polite and also with smiles on their faces. We felt absolutely no pressure and absolutely no haggling, during the entire process. We ended up purchasing the car we originally came to see, in a timely fashion and with an overall feeling of relief and tranquility. I 100% recommend Gerson and Tim as "go to" guys at this dealership. Thank you both, we are extremely satisfied and happy we came to you!
