Keep in mind that I was a wedding/ event planner in Los Angeles, long before J-Lo played the part. Fast forward to summer of 2014, I was mostly hands-off while helping my daughter plan her own formal wedding, a black tie ceremony and reception in the Grand Ballroom at the Renaissance Capital View in Arlington, VA, close to Reagan Airport. The 15 tall ceiling demanded large centerpiece arrangements. I knew what she wanted, but how would I, living in Connecticut, be able to help her? We met with and ordered the bouquets and corsages, chiavari chairs, pipe & drape etc. through DaVinci Florist of Silver Spring, MD and we were also very happy with the results. We had received quotes beginning at $200 per centerpiece arrangement and higher, we needed 15. I had also cost out Costco bulk and local grocery stores without satisfaction that they could deliver the quantity and quality of flowers we wanted. Through Potomac Floral; I was able to purchase 16- 24" tall clear glass trumpet & pilsner vases (3 months earlier) and with their wonderful staffs help, ordered enough filler, flowers and orchids in a purple mix that created 5 high centerpieces. They worked directly with me as we decided what would work for a November wedding, literally walking into the coolers to make the selections. With a very reasonable delivery fee, everything was delivered directly to the hotel and the flowers arrived beautifully packed. Hint: always order a spare vase, it was needed! The flower team of: the Grooms Mother, myself, the Brides Godmother and our Pastors Wife worked for hours and in the end, guests commented on how stunning the centerpieces were. Yes, there was a panicked call to Potomac as we started to unpack the boxes, the roses they send hadnt been trimmed the way the florists do before you see them; quickly reassured & problem solved. The cost: less than $60 per arrangement, including the vase. Guests happily took them home afterwards and we also gave the flowers after the event to the hotel staff.

This place is very probably THE premier floral wholesaler in the DC/MD/VA area, and perhaps, excluding New York City for sheer size, on the Eastern Seaboard. As a non-florist (though I am a business owner,) I was pleasantly surprised from my first visit here, when I had wandered in simply looking for some relatively common flowers of an uncommon color, and a small number of an exotic sort to round out the bunch, by the courtesy and grace with which every employee that Ive encountered on each of my visits here so far has been willing to help me along with/walk me through any issues that Ive had (as the location is a huge warehouse, I do recommend ordering ahead for large orders/anything significantly uncommon enough as to potentially be difficult to find,) and to help me to find any specific floral items, even some that are fairly exotic and/or were soon or just coming into season. I have been pleasantly surprised by just about every experience Ive had at this establishment; from that there seems to have been no difference in the way Ive been treated between an occasion on which I was purchasing only twenty five dollars worth of floral arrangements picked out and picked up spur of the moment, with which I needed help finding the exact flower I was looking for, and was even then directed by the employee currently working to a fresher, better-looking bunch for a lesser price in a different location, despite the fact that I had hit traffic and arrived after closing (I had mistakenly thought that closing fell an hour later than it actually does,) with no one seeming to mind, and when picking up and paying for orders of several hundred dollars worth of mostly more exotic floral items placed in advance and picked up a couple of hours after I waa told to expect them to be ready.

I was looking for a very specific type of flower, just coming into season, for a wedding. My florist couldnt get them, but Potomac told me exactly how many stems they had coming in, and what day, and said I could order online or come pick them up. I went to pick them up to save shipping, and was wowd to find a huge warehouse with a giant retail room of flowers. Seeing them all firsthand, I can say for sure that some of the flowers are not in the best shape - and Im guessing florists get the firsts and retail consumers firsts but also seconds (meaning, less fresh), because B2B sales is their primary income source. That said, its a crap shoot at the grocery store or florist too - and if you want to put together a custom arrangement for a price that is way, way less than commercial, this is the closest Ive found to the Flower District in NY, in this area. They will paper-wrap or box your retail purchase at point of sale, but if you call ahead and order theyll be boxed the same as if theyre going to be shipped. Excellent source for filler, greens ,and they also have a small selection of natural and flocked sticks and curly willow, plus a very small selection of vases for emergencies, I guess! Tip: if its summer, bring a jacket - the retail room of bunches is chilled to what Id guess is upper 40s to low 50s, so more than five minutes and youll be wanting it.

I cant say enough positive things about Potomac Wholesaler. We have never had a bad experience with any products we have received from them. Always packed to ensure freshness. Every person we have dealt with is so kind and really seem to care about their customers. The flower show they do for their customers every year is absolutely amazing. I cant imagine the work they all put forth to make it all happen and the expense from it. Cant wait to see this year. Thank you Potomac!

Im a wedding planner and recently worked with Potomac Floral Wholesale to provide flowers to two different weddings. One involved a mother of the bride who wanted to create the floral designs for her daughters wedding, the other was a couple who needed dried lavender for a small DIY project. In both cases, Potomac was easy to work with and provided superior product at a great price. My couples and their families were very pleased. Thanks, Potomac Floral!

This review is a late entry but thought it is worth putting my review. My dad and I drove to this place (2 hour trip) the Thursday before my wedding two years ago. We had a blast. We were able to get various flowers for my wedding. Coral and yellow were my colors and I found appropriate flowers for this. I was also able to get tips from florists who were shopping here. It was a great experience! I would recommend this flower depot!

I do flower arranging as a hobby and just got my first order from Potomac Floral to do a friends farm wedding. The flowers were beautiful, arrived promptly were packed well. I loved that I was able to get a variety of flowers and not locked into a minimum. The last vendor I used required a minimum dependent on the flower. At Potomac. I could get a bunch if I wanted. This helped achieve the look she wanted.
