As a store in Rockville, its very competitive with the other Chiense grocery stores in the Rockville area. However, when I went into the store on 7/2, I was greatly disappointed. It had no grand opening feeling. No gimmicks, except for tilapia on sale for $3.99/lb and taro root for 0.99/lb nothing much was a hot deal. No gifts/no raffles/nothing. Not even a free gift with/out purchase. Even if it wasnt a grand opening sale...there should be a feeling of a big sale for the 4th of July (due to bbqs and whatnot) It felt like a sorta cramped maze. (A person enters and the first thing they see is Lee Geum Kee.) The store is big, but the first thing people see are the dry goods. Cutting boards are cheap, but a person only needs to buy one cutting board and itll last for a good while. The samples(?) consisted of uncooked cold tofu and a a weird iced tea drink. It takes a while for a person to reach the meat/seafood dept. The aisles are also a bit tight (not easy to have 2 carts in opposite directions) The fish dept was VERY chaotic. No organization whatsoever. People couldnt recognize which fish/order was there. Also, there was a growing obvious fish smell... (it cant be helped, I guess. High ceilings and limited AC and while the food is okay, the smell will be there...) The employees were still training and you could see the handcarts still moving around. Sounds great until you get bumped and have the boxes fall over you when the employee was a bit in a rush. The food court/bakery section under normal circumstances would be okay, but with only 1 cashier to hand the chinese bbq/takeout/bakery section, it became bottlenecked. I would suggest for the bbq dept to take down the nice neat TINY list of prices and put up signs with larger font/handwriting so that people wont need to ask. Also, I would also suggest that the roasted pork be more frequent. (It was 10 am and the roasted pork was already gone...sheesh) Prices were fair, but how can people determine if the product is decent if its not there?! The takeout counter sorta seemed fast and furious, but that might also be because they mightve been in small batches. It wouldve helped if people to taste a little of some of the items. The bakery(?) area was one of the most disappointing areas. No egg tarts, no giant fried noodle, and only a extremely limited selection of breads that a person would have to self serve. Saddest thing of all, the stuff didnt look all that appetizing! (the cheapest bread as $1.20! Even as an impulsive purchase, I couldnt rationalize it due to the hassle) I would also suggest that the offer some coffee/hot milk tea or something. Nothing in the area...sigh. The parking lot itself will be okay during normal operation, but on the grand opening weekend, its impossible! Theres also no traffic signal to assist people in exiting the parking lot and onto the street. Overall, if you live in Rockville, Id say its okay. Big store, big lot. (Compared to Maxim and Kim San, its cheaper) If you live closer to the Gaithersburg Germantown area, save your time and money and stay with Lotte and Hmart. (7/3/11 Google wont let me space nicely, ugh. sorry)

A 3.5 really. Where to begin, its a mixed feeling. I find certain products very good but some not so much. In general, the mellons and roots veggies are no go for me, they all look like they are broken and has been sitting there for a long time. The leaves veggies are ok to average. Depending on type, some of the popular once are fresher than the others. Seafoods are pretty good except the obvious sale items which includes some overnights stocks. Shrimps, certain shellfishes, live fishes are fine. Once in a while you will find razor clams which is good, do check their freshness tho, they tend to let it sit there for some time to increase the chance of getting them sold. Traveling around this place is a nightmare, you enter this shopping cart battle before you get off your car. In the narrow alleys you will find people blocking you EVERYWHERE. Not cool in my opinion, but I understand how they try to maximize the space, but I still think people should prepare themselves mentally. That said, I shop there a lot because of my cultural habits, I find most of the Chinese products I need there so availability is high.

This supermarket overall isnt that bad but it could be better. I have to say my experiences here havent really been that great. The place doesnt seem to be that competitive. In case people here didnt know they always randomly jack up the prices whenever they feel like it. They also reuse old stuff like pork and seafood and cook them in the back end where theres a hot bar. But most of all I hated the staff, they all seem to lack manners. I dont know how they do it in China but this is the United States and one day you will meet a customer that will take things the wrong way and cause problems for you. The people that chop your fish are the worst, especially the Latinos. The rudest staff I ever met was a latino guy, and he f*****g yelled at me. Also nobody in this store happens to speak english. overall I probably wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Huge Asian grocery store. Fantastic selection of spices, cookware, noodles, veggies, mushrooms, seafood (some live) and just an entire slew of interesting food and ingredients. Theres also a hot bar with great food, in great quantity, at a great price. Yes, they use food that would otherwise get thrown out and go to waste--this is a good thing, as grocery stores normally throw out (literally) tons of perfectly fine food with aesthetic flaws. To the people who cant handle a grocery store specializing in foreign food with employees who dont speak English... English is not an official language in the U.S., and feeling like youre in a foreign location is actually quite refreshing--not a reason to take off stars, but to add stars.

Rude staff, lacks manners and customer service especially the cashier people who does not how to speak english whatever u ask her the answer is " i dont know" hey people youre in america! You have to speak the language, very disaapointing staff, the left over meats and fishes shrimps are being used and cooked and u can see shrimp in the hot bar all blackened but still they sell and cook it.. Unhealthy!! Even the latino guy who does the fishes are very rude to customer, and most of all the place is smelly!!! Go to germantown branch a little bit better, but Rockville is the worst.. Advise to management,do a customer orientation so ur staff will have manners and basic english and educate your staff!!!

Chinese Food at the store is good. However 80% of tables was occupied by Hispanic people who work in the store. My daughter and I couldnt find a table to eat. They didnt seem to care that we were looking for one. It was 1pm, during the lunch rush on sat. I just dont understand the store manager let their employees eat at the table during the lunch rush. Some of hispanic worker were eating their own food(hispanic food). They could eat their lunch somewhere else or when the store is not so busy.
